Located in a nice and lively village only a few minutes from the highway. Very friendly and helpfup staff, beautiful details in the library, bar, restaurant, etc.

Lovely courtyard and pool with good sized rooms and large bathrooms. The vibe was very peaceful and it was set in a picturesque village. But I wouldn't say it was 5 star or a wellness retreat. The spa wasn't working, mattresses were poor quality, broken swimming pool tiles and the jacuzzi had broken shower and plug. For the price it was fine, but set your expectations accordingly.

This is a lovely boutique hotel in the village of Kalavasos. It being so early in the season the hotel wasn't full a lot of the time and consequently there were some service issues which is why only 4 stars. Our room was not cleaned on 3 days. Twice because the one cleaner didn't get to us until 5pm when we had just got back from a day out so we sent her away! The other time was apparently her day off and no replacement. This lovely lady was also expected to help in the kitchen and restaurant at breakfast and dinner so not surprised she needed a day off! As it was quiet we had to order a place at dinner in advance for a set menu each day. Despite this, dinner seemed to be served (and cooked?) by just one person rushing about with long waits. Said person was then seen at reception later on. The food was of acceptable standard. Everyone was very nice and tried to be helpful but clearly they were overstretched. Trying to order a coffee in the lounge after dinner was nigh impossible. Either they didn't speak English or couldn't work the coffee machine! The library lounge is lovely and cosy with an open fire. However despite it being extremely cold at the first week in March was never lit, so guests were all sitting round with their coats and scarves on! The hotel in general wasn't warm (our room was North facing) and the hot water was a bit variable. The room decor was quirky and individual but would not describe it as luxurious. We enjoyed our stay nevertheless but maybe better for a summer visit.

Our ten days at the Library Hotel in Kalavasos, Cyprus, were absolutely wonderful. It was a nice change from the hustle of city life. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly, making us feel right at home. The sound of the water in the pool and the chirping of the birds made the atmosphere extra relaxing, something we really enjoyed. After a busy day of exploring the island, it was lovely to come back to our hotel. We were especially charmed by Mary, the cleaning lady, whose smile brightened our day, and Ariadna, who treated us like old friends. Ariadna's kindness and helpfulness were truly appreciated, and it was clear she genuinely cared about making our stay special. The village of Kalavasos was also a pleasant surprise. With its cute shop, cozy cafe, and traditional taverns, it felt like a place full of peace and charm. Cats were everywhere, making it even more enjoyable. We highly recommend this hidden gem for a peaceful getaway."

Whenever you go to Cyprus and you like a friendly crew go to the Library! Everything is great. The special service is nowhere to be found. Thanks to the owner Anne Maria and her wonderful guidance. So don’t have any doubts and book the hotel!!!

The location is fabulous, in a very picturesque village & opposite the church. There is a restaurant on site, but also a great taverna literally 1 minute walk away. The hotel restaurant did a set menu, the soup & dessert was very nice, the main course was ok & the breakfast was good. The room was lovely & comfortable. Fridge, coffee/tea provided & kettle, but no milk. There is a unique feature to this room, whereby the lift opens with access directly to the room. There is a lovely courtyard & a plunge pool, which would be great to use through summer. All staff were very polite & helpful. We tried to book spa treatments over a week in advance & were informed on numerous occasions someone would call to confirm. Only to be told a day before arriving, they could not accommodate our request. This is the only thing we were disappointed by.

Find somewhere else - anywhere else. Hopeless from start to finish. Incompetent host with zero idea what it means to welcome visitors. Struggled to find our booking even though it was paid up front several months back. Having eventually found us, we were shown to our room and left there. No tour of facilities (other Greek-speaking guests seemed to fare better). There was a set menu but no-one seemed to know what it was. Three hours later we were told “steak or calamari”. That was it. No idea if there was a starter, dessert or any detail - e.g. price! We declined and having spoken to others this seemed a wise move! Breakfast fared no better. Some tinned fruit and some fresh. Bananas so brown they could barely be distinguished as fruit of the same name. Hygiene standards looked poor (black mould on some things). Best avoid for fear of illness. The whole place is tatty (see photos). One small soap between the two of us and one hand towel - towels all threadbare. My wife said they were only good for washing our dog - he might have declined an encounter with them. Cheap wire coat hangers (the type you get your clothes back on from a dry cleaners), faded (yellow) switches, lots of silicone between the jacuzzi (which you have to haul yourself into as that is where the shower resides) and the wall tiles. No hot water on day 2 so no shower. When we raised this with the host she said “really”. No apology. No offer to find a solution. Nowt. Nada. Zilch. If you are going to work in the hospitality industry, at least try like the lady from Cameroon who seemed to clean, open up and prepare breakfast. The host did zero of anything. Three tavernas / cafes in the village. I can’t tell you about any of them and neither could our host. Useless. The whole establishment classes itself as 4*. An utter joke (see photos). Cracks, ageing, tired, uncomfortable - pick your negative adjective of choice. The owners need to get a grip or sell up and let someone else try. Save your pennies/cents and find somewhere else. Lovely Cypriots try so hard at hospitality and this place diminishes their endeavours.

We were staying just down the road from The Library Hotel however decided to pop in for a drink one afternoon. We were unhappy with the accommodation that we were staying in elsewhere in the Village and potentially looking to move. We were made most welcome by Kalliopi (hope I have that right). We had a drink and played cards awhile. The hotel was peaceful and calm and relaxing. We took a little look around. We decided to book a meal for that evening. We were told that it was a set 3 course menu at €19. The food was extremely good. Simple, but good quality and well cooked. Would have no hesitation about booking this Hotel if we were in the area again. Oh....and it transpired that another member of staff (Ariadne) had helped us in finding our accommodation earlier that week

After an absence of over 30 months, we managed the sheer madness of air travel and arrived at our favourite corner in Cyprus, the Library. Covid has definitely left its stamp - the tourists have not yet returned in droves - but absurdly, it made the love and care invested in this boutique hotel, the wonderful, generous, open hearted personality of the owners , the cleanliness, and the warmth you feel when staying here shine even more. Sadly the Mitos restaurant chef passed away suddenly a few months ago. Kindly, Anna Maria offered to cook a fully fledged meal for us, which we ate in the courtyard whilst her father kept us company with witty conversation and she checked from home that everything was ok. It was just like visiting old true friends, and as soon we left we planned to come back. Because that is just how it is with the Library. Have a good summer.
