Apex Koh Kong Hotel

Very nice place!!

Unfortunately this place is coming apart at the seams. Rooms are fine although we had to ask for a television because there wasn't one as advertised (travelling with kids it is a necessity for those afternoon naps). The Internet is absolutely atrocious in the place. They have many different options but not a single one works apart from the "apex outside" which meant you had to sit by the pool for the Internet. Not ideal when trying to keep in touch with family members or needing to use for video calls. Staff were very slow to respond to you waiting to be served. I went to get a coffee in the morning...stood at the bar for ten minutes, staff saw me waiting and carried on talking amongst themselves. Very rude and not good hospitality. My partner experienced the same and when he went the staff were actually behind the bar and carried on chatting instead of serving him. There was a dripping noise coming from the window in room 310 which we put a towel outside to stop it as it was that annoying. Air con was great. Spacious room. When we asked for the TV we were told it was broken the day before and a new one was coming the following day. We later found out that this is their excuse for everything not working. We asked about the lack of Internet when leaving and we're told the company doesn't come out. There is a great little bar next door-ish - Rene's bar. Lovely gentleman and his wife so if you do stay pop there and if you arrive in November he will have his own guesthouse nearby. I would avoid the Apex. We moved to a nice little place by the beach and when we got there they guessed where we had moved from because the reputation isn't good anymore. Great for budget travels but if Internet is a need of yours do not bother.

An excellent budget hotel with swimming pool in centre of Koh Kong. My only criticism is that the windows are always left open and if you are not thinking you could easily leave the window open and someone could very easily enter you room. The default position should be that the windows are always locked and it is up to you to unlock and open. I particularly commend the staff who were willing to change a non refundable non changeable reservation when I had not been able to count and booked a day later than I should have because my visa would expire ( I stayed there when I arrived in Cambodia and the second stay which I needed to change was a month later.)

This is a good value budget hotel and if you take advantage of the room offers on the booking sites then it is comparable to the other budget hotels in town. However unlike most there is a swimming pool and a small cafe. Right in centre of town near market I was in a basic fan room clean, hot water (a luxury after a month showering in cold)

The rooms were old, musty. Fly screens were broken, aircon remote did not work. There were dead roaches in the room and outside. There was also large moss stains in places from water leaks. The place is in need of an upgrade. The receptionist was the rudest person. He had his face in his mobile phone even as he showed us the rooms. He kept complaining under his breath and insisted that there were no rooms with aircon available as they were all 'broken.' When I spoke to his boss via phone, he then showed me a different room, but upon sitting on the bed and finding it wet, I lifted the sheets to find that the mattress was wet and the sheets had been placed over it, thus causing large black stains to form. My friend who had a different room also found the mattress covered in dark mildewy spots and other stains. I therefore do not recommend this place.
