Continental style breakfast...quite adequate. Great pool area ..plenty sun beds and nice food from the pool snack bar..drinks sensibly price . Close to the beach and restaurants and nice and flat, but the pathways and roads in Greece are always uneven. Rooms cleaned and serviced regularly ...good library if you are an avid reader. All staff polite and helpful...Tony runs a great bar...problem is tearing yourself away from it. People come year after year to this hotel so they must be doing something right

I'll be honest, after reading previous reviews I thought we had made a terrible mistake booking to stay at Kamari Bay- how wrong was i to worry! Rooms are basic but clean, plenty of wardrobe space, comfortable beds, bathroom/wet room with a decent shower. Air conditioning works fine, we had a problem with ours during our 18 night stay after a power cut caused the unit to malfunction, we reported it and within half an hour an engineer had been contacted and the air conditioning was back up and running. Pool is clean, and plenty of sunbeds, couple of dodgy tiles ect but nothing major. The floor around the pool can be slippy when its wet, and also a bit dusty- in their defence however the hotel is next to a dusty road! Food and drink round the pool are decently priced, tasty. I read in a previous review that people thought the bar was "cliquey" that's utter nonsense! I've never known more welcoming people, lots of guests are returning customers and were extremely friendly at the bar and around the pool. Tony the barman was the perfect host, made a point of wishing guests a good evening regardless of whether they stayed for a drink or not, he quickly learned the names of his guests and couldn't have been more helpful. I can't comment on the breakfast as I'm not a ham/cheese/ boiled egg fan. If you're looking for a 5 star hotel then Kamari Bay probably isn't for you, but if you're looking for clean, comfortable accommodation, ideally located with friendly staff then give it a chance- I'm glad that we did!

I’m halfway through a two-week stay at Kamari Bay Hotel, and I already know I’ll be coming back. As someone who’s been traveling to the Greek islands for nearly 40 years, I’ve seen the full spectrum—from rustic studios to high-end resorts—and I can confidently say this hotel deserves far more credit than some of the outdated or unfair reviews suggest. Let’s set the record straight: Kamari Bay isn’t trying to be a 4 or 5-star all-inclusive resort, and that’s exactly its charm. What it offers is authenticity, warmth, and a peaceful base in one of the quieter corners of Kos. I’m here as a single dad with my 14-year-old daughter, and it’s been ideal—safe, relaxed, and welcoming. The room exceeded expectations. It’s basic, yes, but spotlessly clean with fresh towels and sheets daily (except Sundays). The bathroom is modern and well-appointed, with a proper walk-in shower—not one of those clingy curtain setups you dread. There’s a balcony with a sea view that’s perfect for morning coffee or evening unwinding, and inside, there’s tons of storage space, comfortable beds, a hairdryer, and even a phone. The fridge is handy, the TV works well, and—pro tip—bring your Firestick, because the WiFi coverage is excellent. The optional air conditioning was a lifesaver in the August heat, and at €7 a day, it’s well worth budgeting for. Breakfast is simple continental fare—fresh, plentiful, and just what you need to start the day. The pool is clean, sunbeds are always available, and the atmosphere is laid-back and friendly. Tony, the host, is a standout—he somehow remembers every guest’s name and makes you feel genuinely welcome. Location-wise, it couldn’t be better. Just a two-minute stroll to the beach and supermarkets, with tavernas aplenty and a car hire service right next door. And if you’re craving a bite that hits the spot, Manos Fast Food is just 30 seconds away—home to the best cheeseburger I ever did taste A. It’s fast food, yes, but with a local twist and a quality that rivals any burger joint back home. Whether you’re a couple looking for a quiet escape or a family seeking a safe and easygoing base, Kamari Bay hits the mark. This isn’t luxury—it’s real Greece. And for those who appreciate that, it’s a gem. I’ll be back—because when you’ve spent nearly four decades chasing sunsets across the Aegean, you know when you’ve found a place worth returning to. Kamari Bay is one of them.

⭐⭐ Kamari Bay Hotel, Kos – Where 2 Stars Shine Brighter Than Expected Arrived at Kamari Bay expecting the standard 2-star “room with a door” experience, but left with a suntan, a smile, and a mental catalogue of Tony’s greatest bar stories (the man’s a legend - someone give him a Netflix series!) Breakfast – Advertised as continental, but in reality, it’s more of a minimalist Greek interpretation: ham, cheese, and the kind of bread that says “I’ll hold you over until lunch… maybe.” Simple, yes, but I wasn’t here for Michelin stars. I was here for the beach and to make memories Rooms - Cleaned daily (except Sundays, presumably because even the mop gets a day off). Sheets crisp, floors clean, and bathrooms fresh. The Staff – Could not fault them. Welcoming, friendly, and capable of making you feel like you’ve just been adopted into a large Greek family (without the awkward political arguments over dinner). The Infamous Brummie Wedding – I’d read a grumpy review before writing this, so as a Londoner, I wanted to share … what I found was four generations of absolute legends. From great-gran to the toddlers, every one of them was fun, friendly, and up for a laugh. I’ll be keeping in touch with a few long after the tan fades. If the earlier reviewer is reading this, I hope they reflect, smile, and maybe admit they were just intimidated by how effortlessly the Brummies turned the place into a family reunion you wished you were part of. In summary: If you want marble floors, caviar breakfasts, and someone to fold your towel into a swan, this isn’t your place. If you want sunshine, clean rooms, great people, and the occasional tall tale from Tony, Kamari Bay delivers way more than its 2 stars suggest. Would I come back? In a heartbeat

This is definitely a 2* hotel at best, I genuinely feel it could be better with just a few simple bits of tidying up and maintenance as the staff are super friendly and it feels a very safe place to be. However… there is a lot of litter about the site, we walked past a dirty nappy 4 days in a row when heading to the pool. The pool could do with a good clean, it’s got a lot of staining on the tiles round it and the filter round the edge is quite scummy and some of the tiles are chipped. It’s a good sized pool and plenty of sun loungers surround it, the bar is ok, the lady running it is super friendly and the food (we only had a couple of toasties) was ok. The room is just tired, we had sockets that were coming out of the wall, a toilet seat that didn’t fit at all and tried to shut on you as you used it! And a shower that kinda worked but the main shower was so blocked it would shoot water out the side! It was also a bit scummy round the edges. The beds aren’t the most comfortable but that’s often the case when you’re away! Aircon isn’t included you’ll pay extra which is fairly standard I guess but it hasn’t even been offered or explained to us. The restaurants around the hotel are super and the beaches are super! If all you’re looking to do is have a very basic base and spend all day either on the beach or eating you’ll be fine! I found the lack of taxis or buses a bit frustrating as I would have liked to have been able to explore a bit more. It hasn’t felt like great value for money for me, but I can see how some people would be happy enough. It isn’t really for the young and adventurous, I’ve mostly seen a lot of older couples and a handful of families. It’s very quiet in general, although the bar is open till the early hours and sometimes folk are super noisy! I’m not a party pooper but by 1am I’m done with loud voices and would prefer quiet if I’m honest. Haven’t hated it but haven’t loved it either

I looked at some reviews before booking this hotel and thought, it sounds not bad for a 2 star, I'll give it a try, however:- Reception and bar area are very gloomy and dark, not welcoming at all. There are stools around the bar and seating to one side which is also very dark. Bedroom - The door itself was old and badly fitted. Blood marks on the grimly painted walls from squashed mosquitos. The tiled floor was very grubby, full of dust and leftover rubbish behind furniture from previous guests, ie, takeaway food forks etc. All the furniture was old and tired, dusty all of the time, even after room service so clearly not done properly. Under the bed had not been swept or mopped in I've no idea how long. Bathroom - Shower pipework handles etc and soap holder filthy encrusted with old soap etc. Would have needed Brillo pads to get clean. Seven Euros per day for AirCon. Linen - Not inviting at all, well past the sell by date in colour therefore although probably clean looked very grubby. Had one clean crisp white top sheet in three weeks. Breakfast - Expected a Continental breakfast and nothing more which is absolutely fine however, the Cornflakes were really cheap (like Smartprice) Processed cheese, Spam look a like meat. Poor yoghurt for Greek yoghurt, honey. and jam. Orange juice. Boiled Eggs - Always cold. No toaster, No fruit, No salad, Hostel type food. Noticed other guests must have been to the supermarket and bought their own fruit and tomatoes to eat with the bread provided. Staff - Run by a chap called Yannis. Although no personal complaints with him it's clear he runs the hotel by saving every cent he can. Other guests had issues with him. The 'working' staff were very pleasant and the girls serving breakfast were nice, it appears the staff (and there weren't that many) had to do all the jobs ie, breakfast, cleaning, outside bar, washing down pool outsider area etc. Pool area was nice but could have done with a power wash, tiles very slippy. We bought Cockroach spray and sprayed the room every day because other guests had complained about them. Thankfully we never saw one. Balcony - Hundreds of giant ants on the balcony every day. Always dusty and tiling grubby. It gets 2/10 for me. 1 for location as it was central and 1 for the girls in the kitchen and Tony the barman who was excellent at his job. This was a Jet 2 Holiday and they had given it 2 Stars. I wish Jet2 Staff could have stopped there, it is 1 Star at best and I will not be returning to this hotel.

Arrived early morning 1:00 am bar open, dropped bags in reception and made for the bar for our first Mythos (beer). Yannis greeted us with his normal friendly smile and greeting allocated our rooms. Another guest how was at the bar offered to take our bags to our rooms, and would not take no for an answer. I am a bit wobbly on my legs so a brilliant start to our stay at Kamari Bay. Facilities as good as you can get for the price and the fabulous location, 60 yards from the shops and 65 yards to the sea. Lovely pool with a bar and snacks which we used every day we were at the hotel, warm clean and plenty of beds and seating, Many local (Greek) restaurants with in a stones throw away with in flat walking distance. Hills can be severe so watch where you might book as taxis are not available. 2025 in July a local excursion company are trialing a local bus service in and around town. Great start to our 3 Island trip (Kos, Symi and Rhodes) booked Kamari bay for 2025.

Great location, literally around the corner from the beach, basic rooms but it is a 2 star, but no complaints, cleaned daily, plenty of hangers, lots of storage space for clothes, took a while for the shower to get hot. the only issue we had with the room was one the windows had no curtain, bright sunlight coming in early in the morning. We didn't use the pool, but it looked nice & lots of sunloungers. We did breakfast 1 day only, it was OK but we went to the Kefalos super market every day for a pastry & coffee & eat on our sun loungers on the beach. We didn't use the bar area, but it seemed to be busy & lots of people around it. Very small & quiet resort. Best restaurant for us was Captain Johns. Overall good holiday.
