The location is strategic with a numbers of food cafe nearby. The Kuantan Tower just around the corner and the roof top cafe will be the best to have a sightseeing activity.

Located at the centre of Kuantan town, the hotel has easy access to the shops and diners around Jalan Besar. It takes a 5 minute walk to the Ramadhan bazaar which is in MPK field, and a 3 minute walk to Menara 188. The tower is situated next to the parking lot behind the hotel. Free parking is available, but it seems safer and more convenient to park in the city council's paid parking lot in front of the hotel if you're bringing small kids and heavy luggage. Check-in service is a bit slow, and you have to pay the amount of RM100 for damage deposit along with RM3 tax per night of your stay. Some staff at the counter took too long to assign guests their room, so just sit back and wait at the nearby sofa for your turn. My room is just meh 😕. It says the room has a window, unfortunately my window only has the view of the other side of the hotel block, which is quite frustrating and could dampen the spirit of an Apache warrior. The only thing that consoled me was that the room is equipped with a minibar and kettle. Unfortunately, again, the kettle is malfunctioning and cannot turn off on its own... I nearly set the fire alarm because I was taking a bath while the kettle was on boiling mode, thinking that the damn thing could automatically turn off on its own. Oh yeah, more upsetting news. There were cigarette burn marks on the curtain and bedsheet. The dryer was not working at all. The tv sometimes goes mute and you can try to gain the ability to lip-read what the heck the actors are saying in the story. The service is the worst. I mean, I had just cancelled another hotel I reviewed before this one due to their bad customer service and now I had the unfortunate experience to meet another incompetent staff. I went down to the counter to lodge complaints about the malfunctioning dryer and the absence of house-keeping service (the hotel doesn't even provide the door reminder tag nor the call number for house-keeping). The guy at the counter took almost an hour to assign rooms for the guest in front of me. There were no other staff at the counter. When it was finally my turn, I was disappointed that the staff treated me like I was some hillbilly from an ulu kampung - him putting on airs as if I know nothing about how hotel management work. Young man, you certainly don't know which hotels I've stayed at before you were born. When I complained about the hair dryer, his only reply was that "most of the hair dryers in this hotel are usually not working". About the house-keeping service, he answered that "house-keeping service is not available all the time due to safety... we're afraid there might be theft cases if we allow house-keeping enter guest's room at any time." He later added that I ought to take my complains to the booking app's review form if I was unsatisfied with the hotel service. So here I am. And the hair dryer problem still didn't get resolved until like forever... even after I made a second complain about it with another staff the next day. I didn't get to enjoy buffet on the rooftop since there were many people reserving that area for their iftar party. I didn't mind that but their party was kind of noisy that I could hear the patrons' awful karaoke singing from my room. I decided to dine at the Swiss-Belhotel's THERE restaurant in Tanjung Lumpur that night and drown my sorrows there instead. You better avoid taking the breakfast option. I paid RM19 for sahur and regretted my decision later. The choice of food is too limited and the food tastes terrible. The hotel should hire a new kitchen head and cook. I am not sure if I will ever return to Hotel Sentral Kuantan since it has too many competitors nearby that provide better service and hospitality (for example, Megaview has good choice of menu, Classic Boutique has wonderful staff). The only saving grace for HSK is its strategic location in the city.
