Vijay Vilas Heritage Resort

We had booked a villa but due to some confusion we reached a day late as we were traveling by road. We were accomodated in their heriratage room. Although grateful, we ended up paying too much for a shabby room with no character. The room was not in any state or condition to be part of a 'palace resort'. The food was tasty but very limited spread served in run-down dining hall. They do have a private beach, which is clean and tidy, but the property is quite far from their beach area. You can only reach there using a transport riding through thick forest. The dinner was served on the beach in a featureless and dull shed. There are hardly activities that can be enjoyed at the beach, making the experience really boring and monotonous. The palace is a tourist attraction, and there is always a huge crowd there. Wirh just one counter, there is a long queue to procure the ticket for the palace. The staff was uninterested and lazy. This was not the experience that we expected.The place needs a complete overhaul, for sure.

We stayed at the heritage rooms. These are horribly maintained rooms with broken, worn out furniture and cracked window glass, over hanging cables from the TV, dark curtains. Bathroom was 3 star category. There was nothing either luxury or heritage about the rooms. Definitely not worth the price. You may get misled that it’s a beach front property by seeing the description. But the property is actually 1 km walk from the beachfront. The walk is through the forest and therefore not safe to do alone in the night. The beach is secluded and beautiful. Hotel provides transportation to go back and forth in the evening. The pool in the hotel is very small and is not serviced or has an operational filtering system. So enter at your own risk. Complimentary breakfast includes limited options ..dosa or idli sambar and one type of parantha and banana or watermelon. Don’t expect anything elaborate. Taste is average. Paid food is better. They serve dinner at the beach for rs 600 per person. Includes 3 dishes and naan/rice. This cost is without taxes. If you want a bill, then taxes will be extra. You can not pay by credit or debit card as the hotel will refuse to bear the 2% bank charges. They bill it to the customer.

The food is good. Room is good. However, one of the 2 rooms we booked had a sewage fumes rising and filling the room overnight. We raised this with the management in the morning and they quickly responded. We cannot confirm if the issue was taken care of as we checked out at 10. We left the door open and the odor seemed to dissipate.

I was served my food in dining hall all though initially manager asked me to take food in there private beach compulsoryly which is at a long distance from the hotel later he changed his decision and arranged to serve food in nearby dining hall. The *** attended in dining hall took a good care of us.

Like other places in our Gujarat trip..as we prefer Bhunga or haveli stay, we never hesitate twice to opt Vijay Vilas Heritage Resort as our stay for 2 days at Mandvi ...and this property gives something more than our expectations.. The best thing obviously the Heritage Resort itself..with ethnic decor..spacious rooms n Toilet..very clean and well equipped with all modern amenities.. The ambiance is just excellent..the Villa and Swimming pool with garden in other side..that part is charming too.. Vijay Vilas palace is within very close proximity to visit in morning before crowd gathers.. The staffs in Dining are very friendly and they add more taste with their warmness to hot n freshly served awesome food for dinner n breakfast both.. As in our 2 days stay..one day we getr beachfront Dinner with music..and as the day was our Anniversary date..the Ambiance is something special for us..we will remember the day forever..specially the voice.. The Most attractive part is the Personal Beach..900 meters away from our stay and it is India's Largest private beach, where we can enjoy morning time..Sundown show without any unwanted crowds..its a large advantage to stay here.. Price is worthy if one compared with other beach resorts of Mandvi..and total ambiance is magical We Strongly recommend to travelers to make stay here while you are at Mandvi..Taste the best essence of Heritage with Luxury..

Great place, i will sure come again with more days stay. The dinner at beach is specially great. The cottages are good sized for comfortable stay.
