We had a wonderful stay at Ala Hotel Kyoto! Our room was spacious, especially compared with the hotels we stayed at in Tokyo. The service was exceptional—the staff went above and beyond to help us and make us feel welcome. Breakfast was excellent, with delicious food that we thoroughly enjoyed every morning. Of all the hotels we stayed at in Japan, this was our best experience, especially for the room, service, and breakfast. We were extremely happy with our stay. Highly recommended!

The hotel is conveniently located near Kyoto Station, only about a 5-minute walk away. The twin room was spacious enough, and the room itself was very new and clean. However, they charged a total of 550 JPY per person per day for accommodation and hot spring taxes, meaning our room was charged 1100 JPY/day, which was more than what was shown on Trip.com.

I accidentally booked a king-size bed when I needed a twin room. The price was the same, and I sent multiple messages requesting a change but received no reply. Upon arrival, I was told it would cost an extra 5,000 JPY per night, so I decided against it. I was also charged 2,100 JPY in tax for three nights. The breakfast was too expensive at 3,500 JPY per person. Otherwise, everything else was great – the facilities, gym, and hot spring were all excellent, and the spaces were quite large.
