Ala Hotel Kyoto

I'm sorry, I had no issues with all four elements - cleanliness location service amenties, but I had to get your attention. NO WINDOWS!!!! YOU CANNOT OPEN WINDOWS!!! THE ENTIRE HOTEL AIR IS LIKE AIRPLANE AIR!! YOU CANNOT EVEN CRANK IT OPEN A BIT! ALL WINDOWS ARE LOCKED!!!! They give you some options like air purifier/humidifier/AC but we just could not stay in the hotel for long and the air felt so stuffy and dry everywhere. Everything was beautiful as seen in the photos, but the air quality was so, so awful please take note of this.

Situated along a vibrant street adorned with delectable beef restaurants and adjacent to a 24-hour drug store boasting competitive prices on cosmetics and medications, the hotel's location promises both convenience and immersion in local culture. A relatively new establishment, Ala Hotel Kyoto boasts one of the finest outdoor onsens I've encountered on my travels. Perched on the 10th floor, the onsen is accompanied by a tranquil zen lounge, ideal for unwinding post-soak or awaiting laundry completion. Though laundry services are complimentary, guests should note that detergent is not provided. While complimentary snacks were notably absent, the expansive onsen facilities and serene ambiance compensated for the oversight. However, it's worth mentioning that the onsen's operating hours are relatively limited, closing at 11 pm nightly, with only two hair dryers available. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised by its spaciousness—ample enough to accommodate three luggage pieces comfortably. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the bathtub affording breathtaking views of the hotel's surroundings, perfect for soaking in the beauty of sunrise or sunset. Complete with access to YouTube and Netflix, the room provided ample entertainment options. For a delightful treat, indulge in soft-serve ice cream from the cafe adjacent to the hotel—an ideal conclusion to a day of exploration. The bed exuded comfort, while the addition of a sofa near the entrance provided a convenient spot to unwind without soiling the bedding with outdoor attire. Overall, while Ala Hotel Kyoto may lack certain amenities, its spacious accommodations, strategic location, and reasonable pricing make it a standout choice for travelers seeking tranquility and convenience in equal measure.

Amazing hotel. Clean, comfortable and spacious rooms. Great location, close to the Porta subway entry and local restaurants. Highly recommended.

The location is great! Just about 5 minutes walk to JR train station as the bus terminal. It’s in the transport hub so very convenient to every part of Kyoto by bus or train. The hotel is new and facilities are well maintained. It has got onsen as well even though its location in the city. So it’s good to relax after a tiring day. The room is clean and spacious for Japanese standard and in the big city like Kyoto. Overall is great

Stay at Ala Hotel Kyoto was really good! Booked this hotel because of the Onsen facilities. Enjoyed a good onsen treatment after a long day of walking. Location is super close to Kyoto station, and stay in generally is good. The reception service people are also super friendly and able to converse in English :)

This is the second time I’m staying here. Great location and the room is comfortable and of good size. One room f my preferred hotels in Kyoto.

What I like about this hotel is the bathroom and toilet are separate. The room is spacious with sofa and working desk in the room. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful.

Had a great stay at Ala Kyoto Hotel! Room was spacious and clean, breakfast was delicious, staff friendly, and location convenient. Unfortunately couldn't enjoy the spa due to a tight schedule, but will definitely come back!

Unlike many hotels in Japan, rooms are spacious. Housekeeping is top-notch as I came back to very cleaned rooms on a daily basis!
