This is my second time staying at this hotel, and I still really like it.
Transportation: The bus stop is Shijo Nishinotoin, and the subway station is Shijo. However, please note that in the past, you could take bus route 50 directly from Kyoto Station to the hotel entrance. But when I went this year, I found that luggage is no longer allowed on the bus. So, when checking in or out, you'll need to take the subway to and from Kyoto Station. Especially if you're returning to Kyoto Station to buy a HARUKA ticket for Kansai Airport, you'll need to allow more time for navigating and purchasing tickets.
The location is a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of Shijo Kawaramachi, but the surrounding amenities are very complete. There are two supermarkets nearby, a Family Mart convenience store, and many restaurants.
The housekeeping staff are Japanese, and they are very thorough and meticulous. Thumbs up!
Kyoto in February isn't cold. Two or three layers are enough during the day (thermal underwear, sweater, jacket). You might even feel warm at noon or after walking for a while. In the evening, just add a scarf, and you'll be fine. If you have hair, you don't even need a hat; your head won't get cold.
