Very nice room. Good service, and a great sleep. Lots of little hidden features like dividers and a curtain to separate the bathing area from the main room, as well as tea and coffee in the cabinets. Slight negatives were the music we could not find a way to turn off, as well as a their requirement to turn in the key whenever leaving the premises while checked in.

Great service. Very nice staff who were all extremely helpful. They provided many restaurant suggestions and helped us make reservations. The room was amazing and it came with a silk bath, drinks and snacks that were restocked daily.

Very nice hotel very friendly staff .on the expensive side for the service provided.room nicely designed and feeling in Japan which is very nice especially in Kyoto .did not try the restaurant so I won’t comment on this .all the best for the futur

We had a very pleasant stay with the hotel which is comfy and nice! The hotel staff are also very friendly. And the breakfast and dinner were impressive. Surely will come and stay again when we are in Kyoto next time.

I cannot overstate how wonderful my four-night stay at The Junei (Hirashimaya) was and how underrated this hotel is. I am already plotting on when I can return to Kyoto and place myself there again. GOOD: Do not miss out having breakfast in the restaurant attached to the hotel. As a food-lover, I was constantly spoiled every morning by what was presented to me in terms of quality and flavour. The room I had was silent—so silent the HVAC system sounded like a roar at times. It must be the Japanese way of quiet that ensures I felt like I was the only one in the place despite seeing the guests in neighbouring rooms. I appreciated this peaceful oasis so much. I love the amenities and the products provided by Mikimoto Cosme. There was anything one could wish for in the dressing drawer: hair styling equipment, hair brushes, hair ties, the usual conveniences expected from any self-respecting luxury hotel… And the towels provided were glorious. Housekeeping was meticulous and the room (especially the glasses and cups) was spotless. I read certain complaints about the location but those strangers must not know how to read a map. The hotel is 5 minutes from two convenience stores, less than 10 minutes walk to a major subway line (literally a left and a left, can’t go wrong)… and it was a 20-min stroll to both Kiyomizu-dera or the Gion area. As a solo female traveller, I felt absolutely safe in the neighbourhood. For monolinguals, the hotel staff speak excellent English! BAD: This is a gripe not even worthy of the label “first-world complaint”. The Junei has spoilt me so much. I did not realise it until I moved to the social media-famous Hoshinoya and found myself missing The Junei! I will certainly be returning next year.

Kyoto The location is quiet and comfortable, very clean and beautiful. Warm reminder that there is no TV📺, but I felt very comfortable and relaxed😃. It’s worth a thumbs up👍👍👍. The supplements in the room are replenished daily. A full set of skin care products are provided for ladies. If your skin can accept any brand, it’s great. For me who don’t have sensitive skin, I can’t stop praising it👍. Refrigerator drinks are also free and replenished every day. If you have a drink, you can clear them every day. 🧑The clerk speaks English very well💯, is polite and friendly, and helps travelers a lot, such as making restaurant reservations, asking for directions, arranging cars, room supplies, etc. The bath in my own bath is very good, the bath is big and has enough water power. If you are traveling by car, there are many parking spaces near the hotel. I really enjoyed this hotel during my trip to Kyoto.

The place felt like a hidden gem, tucked away in a secluded spot, making me want to recommend it to others. The interiors truly embodied "small luxury," creating an inviting and relaxing atmosphere. The Hinoki bath had a very Japanese feel, which was delightful. The dyed decorations in the room, the amenities, and the bed were all of the highest quality.

A perfect place to stay if you want a luxury and peaceful vibes with a modern and traditional Japanese style design. Staff were speaking perfect English and very respectful. Location was close to everything and overall 10/10 experience.
