4star with hostel level, incredibly overpriced. Picked myself a deluxe twin hoping to get a little more space, but the room was way too ascetically equipped. Entryway with no bench to put on shoes, no closet for your things. Need to get into bed to switch off the lights in the hall . Towels are under the counter at the room, nothing close to the bathroom. Have to pick up your water, slippers and toiletries from reception downstairs. Randomly untidy - like greasy sticky light switches, smelly pajamas, stains on bedsheets, stains of leakage under coffee machines. Plastic cutlery at the restaurant is simply unhygienic, breakfast options are quite so so. At least was very well soundproofed. Self check-in and check-out instantly downgrade experience. Staff is super sweet though, and location is great. Would be super frustrated if it was my only stay in Kyoto
