When I walked through the door, I thought wow! The hallways to each of the floors are balconies to the lobby. The room was comfortable but this is where the issues start to rack up. Firstly the tiles on the floor of the shower are very slippy when wet, not good news for a shower. It's a shame as it was huge, plenty of space to slip over and smack your head on the floor. Next very few staff members speak any English at all. Now as I'm in a Spanish speaking country, I wouldn't expect everyone to speak English, but I'd expect the staff of a top end restaurant to do so and not have to communicate with my super duper basic one word Spanish. Next they only left one bottle of 330ml water in the room, although there was plenty of water bottles in the mini bar I could buy. Most hotels provide 2 x 500ml bottles. Really cheap and penny pinching this. The WiFi was glacial slow and that's after you get past the extra level of 'security'. Good look trying to upload that ace pic on social media. The breakfast was excellent, although we missed it one day as we were out at 0620 and it doesn't open until 0700, most hotels start breakfast between 0600 and 0630. I really didn't rate this place considering the price. Once you get past that initial wow factor when you walk in, it's not that great

Use to be the best place to stay in La Paz, but lately they service is going down quickly. I come to La Paz every year and been at the hotel several times already and can notice the decrease in service quality... As a frecuent traveler, I usually rate the experiences realted to practicity not luxury, but being 5star hotel is something you should honor in the small details, again not luxury but practical. I mean you firstly need to check the box of what you sell, a hotel room service!! First : As soon as get the room I've realized forgot my toothbrush and ask for one to the reception, as as surely you already know, the hotels lately stop putting them as default at the room. My surprise was they told me will charge for them! In a 5star hotel you pay hundred plus dollars the room? for a disposable toothbrush? come on! I will cross the street and buy a good one for half of the money. (Again, is not the money, or the luxury is the service you need to provide for a 5star hotel room!) Second : At the time I took a shower, noticed there is only ONE soap! Yes, unvelivable! you need to use the same for washing your hands and face than the body at the shower... amazing! You need to remember to take it out the shower after it.. hahahaha.. (again is too expensive to put two per room?) Third : The second day, I arrived early to the room after lunch due some meetings cancelled, at 2:20 PM the room weren´t made.. Fourth : I started to work and try to get some water, of course if the room wasn´t made, no courtesy water already there, then look for the minibar... but neither was replenished.... come on!!! Any standard service from the hotel works here? Fifth : Tired of many lack of standard services provided ask for a quality manager to talk about... came two nice ladies with a lot of appologizes I do not need, because I need the basic service I paid for!!! They told me will reverse me with some "compensation"... but never heard of them again... cuack! Why 1 star when nothing so hard happened? It is my time the valuable thing, and you make me waste it due not honoring the service I paid for. PS: See attached photo, off course they work very hard to looks very updated, but seems they took the Hotel Managment course from instagram...

My wife, son and I spent 17 wonderful days in Bolivia but only had a poor experience at the Casa Grande. We booked a family room so we could all stay in 1 room but when we checked in we were separated and my son was down the hall. He is a young adult so he was not concerned but this was inconvenient since he was down the hall and not next door or in the room we booked. We had several issues with our keys not working during our stay. You need a key to use the elevator and had to go back to the front desk multiple times as the key did not work in elevator and at times for the room door. However more concerning was that we realized after several days that our room door did not lock! Yes the door could be opened without a key. We did not realize this earlier in our stay because we had so many key issues that we did not realize until New Years morning when the key did not work and I just turned the handle and the door opened. When we informed the staff, we were told that the maintenance person was off because of the holiday and offered another room but we were leaving the next night so it was too much to pack to unpack for the night and we dead bolted the door when inside. On top of this our safe did not work. The staff attempted to fix a few times but could not get it to work. We had to go to my son's room down the hall every time to lock up our valuables which is an inconvenience especially if you're trying to enjoy a vacation! But given the door not locking and the safe not working we were more than surprised. Staying in a hotel without a locked door is a major Security issue - crazy. The staff was always helpful and tried to assist. We asked to speak to the owner: Don Carlos but was told he was away. The manager was not on-site New Years Day. But the housekeeper & young man on staff that day were very surprised and understanding of our dilemma to NO fault of their own. When we brought this to the managers attention upon check out the next day: "Nothing" was mentioned about our issues, except for we are so sorry about your experience. I spend 100 plus nights out a year in Marriott in the US for work and this has never happened, and when issues occur they are prompt to address. We had a wonderful experience at the Marriott Santa Cruz the prior week followed by a wonderful stay at the Camino Real in La Paz. Camino Real in La Paz. We were expecting a much better experience at the 5 star Casa Grande , but disappointed with the outcome especially given we paid more than $250 a night. We stayed at the Casa Grande from 12/27/23 through 1/2/24. Still never heard back from hotel manager regarding our concerns and still waiting for ANY response back. Hotel food is good and staff is friendly and warm and because of this reason only dd not lower to 1 star.

Very unique building design. Staff was very helpful and attentive. Design with all of the glass made it a bit warm in the hotel during the day, but very nice rooms.

My personal experience at first wasn’t the greatest at first upon check in, however the manager at the end turned the situation around. The staff in general was cordial and helpful. Hotel is in a great location in the southern portion of La Paz.

Comfortable and well appointed hotel in a safe neighbourhood. Room spacious but no view to speak of: the room pictures taken from select angles. Balcony door did not lock and staff seemed unconcerned. Laundry prices extortionate. Only 250ml of water in room, the rest is charged, which felt unfair given the importance of hydration at high altitude. breakfast box a shambles: stale sandwich and no water and, according to check out staff, no possibility of adding water. Not good enough.

We stayed for two nights. On arrival i was not feeling well and asked if the kitchen could make me 2 boiled eggs. we had breakfast included both days. Upon check out we left at midnight amd were not able to have our second breakfast we paid for nor were we able to have a box breakfast because it was only available from 1am. They charged us almost $2.50 for 2 boiled eggs and refuses to include it in our stay even though we paid for a second breakfast and were not able to have it. Absolutley disgusting and will never be back nor recommend to anyone! Thieves!

I stayed in this hotel constantly with my daughters. I live in La Paz, and there are no pools that we know of so we rent a room and stay there quite often. It is April 12 and I’ve stayed in this hotel about four times this year alone. They never want to upgrade you the room which is very disappointing, especially considering as much time as we spend there and money. I’m a Gold member with ******* and I also stay there quite frequent and they still will not upgrade my room. This particular time I stayed there on a Monday, which is the least busy time in la Paz and I still couldn’t get them to give me an upgrade. I am a great tipper, I eat at the restaurant, I get room service, I’ve gotten spa service, and I still can’t get them to give me a room upgrade. That to me is absolutely ridiculous. All in all it’s a nice hotel I just can’t see why they can’t twist their arm a little bit and give me that upgrade, but some people are just too petty. So sad.
