I came on business trip from the UK and needed to be meeting a company 5 minutes away from the IBIS hotel. I stayed here without much choice and was concerned about my impending stay after seeing many negative reviews on TA and can confirm that they are correct. I will write the good and the bad. The bed room is very small, so is the bathroom. Bathroom has no bath but a good shower. Bedroom and bathroom both were very clean. Wall décor is old fashioned. No electric points at all other than one for the TV so you must unplug your TV if you wish to charge up your mobile. Check-in lady was very helpful. Location is excellent, can’t be more central. The hotel is directly opposite the entrance the St Etienne train station. I was given Room 404 which stank of smoke. I asked to be changed and the lady immediately offered Room 303 which is a non-smoking room. The heater was not working, basically just missing one of the two switches. The lady on reception came to my room with a pair of scissors and pushed up the knob. Heating was then full blast and I woke up the next morning feeling dehydrated. In short, it is ok for a one night stay but not much more. Definitely not for holidaymakers. I would describe this hotel as a no frills hotel.

Stayed here for one night for a football game and the hotel served our needs really well. Easy to access by tram and the train station across the street. Great restaurant on site. Friendly staff that were able to accommodate our needs. The beds were great, air conditioning worked really well, and the place was incredibly clean. Standout for us was the friendly staff including the reception and the custodial team.

Stayed here for 3 nights during the Rugby World Cup to see Fiji v. Australia. Came in by train - so VERY handy as just across the road. Also handy for the Fan Village and Stadium - 25 minutes walk. Now rebranded as an Ibis "Styles" Hotel since the last review (TRIPADVISOR - take note of the name) and presumably smartened up a bit. We found it clean and friendly - rooms were OK and bathroom a just about decent size. Beds were comfortable and soft pillows supplied when requested. And the Air Conditioning worked! A bonus as the weather was gorgeous and still quite hot. Nice breakfast supplied in a funky downstairs area. BIG bonus was being attached to the Maire Kanter restaurant and bar on the ground floor - great atmosphere on the outside tables with all the rugby folks coming and going. Ate in the restaurant once - pretty good. Saint-Etienne is a very nice town to walk around - lots of wide boulevards with squares and cafes to while away a lunch, and some interesting sites to visit (we didn't make it to the Mining Museum unfortunately). We probably won't get back to Saint-Etienne but if we did - then yes, we would stay at the Ibis again.

Au delà du bruit ambiant du quartier presque insupportable La literie est inconfortable et l’on se réveille à coup sûr avec un sérieux mal de dos On ne se repose pas on subit ! La saleté ambiante est omniprésente Araignées et mouches prises dans les toiles d’araignée dans les luminaires au dessus des tables pour le petit déjeuner ! Les bactéries et insectes peuvent donc s’inviter dans votre repas Poussières cheveux saletés dans les chambres Comme le démontrent les photos ci dessous prises ce jour Aux heures de ménage le personnel sûrement déjà trop fatigué par le nettoyage non fait évoqué ci dessus monopolise l’unique ascenseur pour monter du 0 au 1er ou descendre du 0 au -1 sans considérer que le client devrait en priorité jouir de cet élément de confort Simplement un Hôtel à éviter à moins que le management ne se réveille et reprenne les choses en Mains mais la tâche est vaste Voyageurs exigeants passez votre chemin

Hotel certes bien placé , proche de la gare et du centre , mais : - chambre peu spacieuse , avec le passage récent d' un fumeur . - parking à l' accès compliqué - petit déjeuner moyen - accueil décevant . Tout cela pour un prix assez élevé .

Hotel ibis Gare Chateaucreux Auf meiner jährlichen Geschäftsreise muss ich auch nach Saint Etienne. Leider ist die Auswahl an guten Hotel hier nicht vorhanden. Zur Beschreibung. Der Empfang entspricht nicht ganz dem Bild auf der Homepage. Es ist eng und der Durchgangsverkehr zum Früstücksraum verläuft direkt vor dem Empfang. Der Früchstücksraum selber ist sehr klein. Das Büffett ist Französich, weiche Croissant und Weißbrot, Obst und Jogurt. Es gab jeden Tag die gleiche Wurst. Die Zimmer sind sehr klein, Sicherheitszimmer, man fällt immer auf das Bett. Für die einzige Steckdose im Zimmer musste ich auf den Boden, um unter der Kofferablage an die Steckdose zu kommen. Das Badezimmer ist ebenfalls sehr klein, aber sauber und schon leicht verwohnt. Personen über 1,95 m Größe ist dieses Hotel abzuraten, da alle Flure auf ca. diese Höhe angehängt sind. Die Zimmer selbst sind etwas höher. Wer nicht gut einparken kann, dem ist die Tiefgarage nur mit einem Einweise zu empfehlen. Sehr klein, sehr eng, sehr verwinkelt und überall steht Sperrmühl rum. Leider "duftet es" . Es ist veroten, selbst mitgebrachte Speisen auf dem Zimmer zu verzehren. Selbst eigene Snacks dürfen auf dem Zimmer nicht gegessen werden. Positiv ist die gute Verkehrslage, direkt gegenüber zum Bahnhof, dennoch sind es noch ca. 10 min Fußweg bis zur Innenstadt.

A part l'emplacement, je ne recommande pas du tout cet hôtel, je m'explique : Environ 80 euros la chambre sans petit déjeuner, les chambres et l'hôtel sont vieillots bien en deçà de la norme pour ces hôtels de chaîne, les couloirs sont bruyants les portes claques et on entend ses voisins de chambre. Il est interdit d'emporter un repas en chambre mais quand vous commander en en-cas ça devient carrément du vol ! 17€ pour un soda un croque monsieur cramé et un gâteau décongelé de qui se moque t-on ?? (Voir photo) L'accueil du personnel est moyen, bonjour mais pas plus, pas vraiment pros alors qu'ils accueillaient un congrès de professionnels du tourisme.... ils n'ont pas vraiment saisi l'occasion. Bref pour ce prix là fuyez... les voisins vous accueilleront ds de meilleurs conditions. Convient néanmoins pour une nuit de passage le quartier est calme la nuit.
