In April 23, my partner and I had a most enjoyable stay at the Hotel Paradiso, Porto Venere in Italy. We were given a room on the top floor with a stunning view of the bay and surrounding hills. A full and delicious breakfast was available each morning but we were most impressed with the staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as happy as possible. The Hotel Paradiso is ideally located on the bay and just a short walk to the town centre with its many restaurants, ferry service to Cinque Terra and historical attractions.

Although we didn't stay at Hotel Paradiso (our apartment was a short distance up the road) I have to complement Stefano, Fabrizio and Alex on their bar/coffee service. The Hotel is a short distance up Via Garibaldi from the piazza and worth the walk for the views from their covered terrace, and their warm welcome and hospitality. Wine bar open all day ... with good prices and generous serves. We highly recommend Hotel Paradiso and will endeavour to stay there on our next visit.

Last minute trip with my son to Italy, Switzerland, and London. Stayed from 2* to 5* hotels and this was our VERY FAVORITE stay. We had the family room with 1 king and 1 twin - a tiny window to see the view. Very basic accommodations with everything we needed for 3 nights. Paid the extra fee for our car - and it was worth it. Walked into town to catch the ferry every day. Had dinner in town - watched the sunset every night from the look out near the church grabbed gelato and walked back to our room...The breakfast was wonderful with hot and cold offerings and espresso made to order - all with an amazing view. The staff was friendly and helpful. Upon arrival we were greeted at the front door -quickly unloaded our bags and my son was directed to where to park the car. The service did not end there. There are 2 rooms to relax and enjoy the view with a "bar" that never closes (bottles behind the front desk) As mentioned we stayed at a 2* campground in Rome to 5* Mandarin Oriental in Lucerne - campground was interesting and the Mandarin was quite luxurious...but the Hotel Paradiso was by far our favorite of the 5 places we stayed. I will return.

So glad we chose this hotel as our home base while exploring the Cinque Terre and Portovenere. The staff could not have been more lovely, the views were incredibly beautiful, the location was perfect. The rooms were small but what we expected. They were clean and the ac worked great, especially during the heat spell while we’re there. Everything was in walking distance and the day started with an amazing complimentary breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel.

The location is excellent. And that's really the only good thing I can say about this place. The rooms were tiny, with smaller than normal beds and no space to walk to the bathroom, no space for luggage. The "closets" are about 4 inches deep so you can't really put anything in them at all. The hairdryer was a non-functional weird vacuum tube into the wall. But the worst part was the service. We were on our honeymoon and are both quite tall, so I paid extra to book a family room and confirmed ahead of time we could push 2 beds together so we'd actually have enough space to sleep comfortably. When we arrived the afternoon of check-in, the hotel had decided that since we were only 2 people they would put us in a single room. They told me they gave our room away and there were no other options. They gave us 40 euros to make it up to us, even though I had paid far more than that for the upgraded room. We called ******* to help us, and they confirmed with the hotel that they had made an error so tried to book us into another hotel. There wasn't anything available at all in town that night, but they were able to book us into another hotel the following night. While I was talking to *******, the hotel folks called our room. We told them we were on the phone and we'd talk to them when we were done. Then they called again. And again. And again. We asked them to stop calling us, told us we'd come down to talk to them in a moment. They called again. They called incessantly so we took the phone off the hook. I finished the call with ******* and went to use rinse off in the shower quickly while my husband went down to find out what the hotel wanted. All of a sudden there was a loud banging on our room door. I told them I couldn't come to the door right now and that I would be down in a minute. They banged again. I told them to go away. They started banging loudly and without stopping, and kept going for at least 3 minutes straight. I was scared and screaming for them to go away. I kept saying "leave me alone" and "no" and "stop" but they kept banging on the door. When I was able to get out and get dressed, I ran to the door and opened it and screamed at the man to leave me alone and went down to find my husband. The second front desk person told me they had found another hotel for us. We told them no (it was not in the same area and it was more like an AirBnB, and we were happy with the hotel we'd be moving to the next day). He got very aggressive and threatening and told me he would make me write a note that I rejected the room he provided so that he would still get paid. I told him I wouldn't be doing that. I told him that we would stay the night and move the next day. He wasn't happy, but I was able to calm the situation down enough that I felt somewhat safe staying the night there and leaving our bags in our room while we went to dinner. It was really a terrible experience. We tried to shake it off, but I felt so threatened and scared. We made it thro
