Spacious double room, well equipped, complimentary hot drinks and biscuits in rooms. Stayed for an evening meal and breakfast. All service and food superb. Plenty of menu options. Staff very attentive leading to a very enjoyable friends Birthday celebration. The pub itself is full of character but all clean and tidy.

You can find some of the best pies in Wiltshire in this beautiful pub in Lacock. Spacious, comfortable, but informal dining room with fast service. We are certainly looking forward to our next visit. It is wheelchair friendly with just a single low step to negotiate

As a family group of three we arrived at 5.45pm and asked if they were still serving food. Being told yes we were shown to a table and given menus. The restaurant was not that busy. About 15 minutes later a waitress came to the table to ask if we were ready to order. On hearing that we were she said she would go to get a pad. Another 15 minutes later she had not returned. My husband went to the bar to complain and received an apology and was assured someone would come straight over. A further 10 minutes went by and still no one had come to take our order. At this stage after waiting a total of 40 minutes I went to the bar to complain again. I said I was not prepared to wait any longer and we would pay for our drinks and go. A woman behind the bar said " I am just coming to take your order now, I have been dealing with another customer". When I suggested she was 40minutes too late and we should have been a priority as we had been waiting so long she acted as if I were being unreasonable and certainly did not give a meaningful apology. We left and went to The Bell just down the road where the food, prices and customer service were all first class. Always vote with your feet when your custom is not appreciated.

Lovely pub and very nice friendly staff. But the food I ordered was appalling. It was just slop served in a tin bowl. It was on the specials board and described as a Winter Warmer. I didn't know what it was. IT came with a side of soggy vegetables which were clearly from a frozen packet. Honestly the worst food I've ever had in a pub/restaurant. Its such a shame because the pub is very special and the staff absolutely great. If the food was amazing too, then it would be a great place to visit.

Lunch visit. A venue living on past reputation. Visiting on glowing recommendations, we were very disappointed. Our two lunches lacked flare. The steak pie had hard pastry and the meat was chewy. The pasta was bland with a dry chicken breast. Both dishes could have been hotter. Seating not good, we were pushed into a corner with no Christmas atmosphere. Shame, we will not be returning. Not considered to be value for money.

Stayed here so we could walk to the Abbey and around the village. Friendly staff clean room and simple but good food made are stay a pleasure. One evening there was quiz in the bar and we were invited to join in. All good fun and well kept drop of real ale.

TLDR: Decent room, but operated by inexperienced staff, with many many irritations. Breakfast weird. Long version: Wadworths do what they can to get under your skin. Every time you reopen your computer or phone, they want you to complete a survey (Which of these beers do you like?) You have to check in from home on the internet to avoid the check-in rush. (There are five rooms! You have to tell them your email address three times). Ditto check-out -- got a text before the breakfast service started to check out on line (yes, to avoid the checkout rush). We emailed in advance to ask if there was a/c -- my wife suffers with the heat. No response. We arrived and a young man "showed us to our room". I am 77 and was finding it a struggle to get the luggage up the stairs. No help offered. There was going to be karaoke, as well as live rugby on the tv. I asked if we could have a quiet table for evening meal. No problem, we agreed a particular table. Came down to the meal and there was another couple sitting there. Full English breakfast: not wonderful. The (one slice of) toast was actually under the fry-up. No butter, no jam.
