The whole resort has a very good atmosphere. You can watch the sunset. There is also a saltwater lake where you can go snorkeling. You can see turtles at the shallow end, and you can also see a lot of fish, tropical fish, and dolphins. There is also a large swimming pool. The holiday atmosphere is superb. It’s just that there are small flying insects in our room, which is annoying. In addition, the house is old and the facilities are old.

When you first arrived at the hotel and looked for a parking lot, you discovered that parking costs fifty dollars a day. For a househusband or a couple traveling together, you feel that these fifty dollars are not worth it because it is not close enough to the hotel. Then you hurriedly found the front desk, but they couldn't find your reservation because the three hotels were combined. You need to take a 1km/h train to reach your front desk. Then after a long wait, a voice of aloha called your attention back. After your soft and hard offensive, the hotel finally agreed to your request to check out at 11 o'clock, and upgraded you to a seafront room. Sure enough, you were awakened by the noise of birds the next day, and the running and crying of children made you feel that you were not on vacation. Okay, I can't make it up anymore. It's a good hotel.

The hotel is very good and very cost-effective. We were delayed by the car rental company for 2 hours, so we checked in late, so the lady at the front desk gave us an upgrade? I was given a room with a garden by the swimming pool. The room was very cozy. The toilet and bathroom were very new and very good. I had the best sleep in this hotel in Hawaii. I don’t understand why no one commented on it. The hotel has its own We also saw real turtles on the beach, yes real turtles! And it was the guy who handed out towels by the pool who I asked at the beginning. After a long time, the guy came to me and asked me if I had just asked a few of them if there were turtles in the hotel. He said he saw turtles and came to call me. I'm really grateful to remember this.
The hotel has its own small supermarket and boutique, so you don’t have to worry if you don’t have enough medicine or if your swimsuit doesn’t look good, you can buy them all! ! And the selection is high-end and comforting. In addition, if you stay in the hotel for about 3 days, you will probably get tired of the restaurant. Of course, there is nothing delicious outside. Hawaii seems to get off work at 4 pm, so there is really no choice outside the hotel.

I can recommend this hotel. There are a lot of extra fees that you have to pay for example 37$ per day for a resort fee and 35$ per day if you want to park your car. So for 4 nights we ended up paying almost 400 dollars at the check out only for fees and taxes. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay. The location is great right by a beautiful beach where you can rent snorkeling gear (for free) and swim with fish and turtles! It also offers a lot of complementary activities and a good (although not amazing) breakfast buffet.
All in all we felt very relaxed there and would come back.

Very Good
GGuest UserThe hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, making it super convenient for dining, entertainment, and sightseeing. Right across the street, there are tons of restaurants, and the beach is just next door, perfect for boat trips and swimming. Plus, the most bustling market is within easy walking distance.
Ssulee17We embarked on a long-awaited trip to Hawaii. Our first stop was the Big Island, which took two stops and a day to reach. We chose to stay at the Outrigger near the Kona airport because we weren't driving and it was conveniently located near a night manta ray dive.
We stayed at the hotel for three nights and changed rooms once. We were assigned a third-floor oceanfront room facing the pool and slide, but the view was obstructed and noisy during the day. On our second night, we moved to the fourth floor, which was quieter and had a better view. Of the three hotels with the best ocean views, Manta 1 and 2 were better than the three Lu'ao buildings I stayed in, with direct views of the Pacific Ocean and the sunset.
The breakfast at the Outrigger was lackluster, but my Chinese stomach is used to eating in the morning, so I couldn't miss it.
If I were to visit the Big Island again, I'd stay at the Courtyard by Marriott in Kona Town. The beach is right outside, and there's snorkeling nearby. The Chinese food in town is excellent, with fresh seafood and affordable prices. I always take an Uber from the Outrigger, and it costs $20 each way. More importantly, the stargazing tour pick-up and drop-off location is at the Courtyard by Marriott, making it perfect for those who don't drive. Oh, and I went for the manta ray night dive, which was truly breathtaking, but the waves were strong at night, so those who don't know how to swim shouldn't sign up, as you can't wear a life jacket, and the strong waves at night can be quite scary.
GGuest UserThis is a true outdoorsmen experience. I stayed in the Monkeypod tent. It was very comfortable. I had a very nice Queen bed with plenty of pillows. The tent came with a folding table, iron racks for hanging clothes, a lamp, multi-plug power strip, and WIFI. The porch had one chair and a table, and the nights were very quiet. The property shares a kitchen with on the needed appliances and dishware available as well as a porch with tables and chairs to watch the sunset. There are two showers, one in door with solar heating and one outdoors (still private) with gas heating. The property has a protected gate with code. Overall, a very good experience and I would stay here again.
GGuest UserThe hotel itself is better than expected; You can tell that they went through a massive renovation in order to give a chill vibes based stay (on the outside). Inside of the room, it’s definitely an old hotel… I liked the furniture, but the windows were too open for my liking (you get the feeling that anyone can look into your room); Not as much of an issue since we used the curtains! The bath towels were covered in hair (ranging from long strands to tiny ***** pieces) which I found to be disgusting. The staff were more than willing to switch out the towels (there was still hair on them but a little dusting off mainly did the job). There was tiny ***** hair pieces in the bathtub as well, but I washed them down the drain so no biggie. The main issue that I had with this stay was that you could hear everything that was going on in rooms next door or outside. We heard loud screaming and fighting into the early ams, and it took a while for them to stop. This is not the hotel’s fault, but if you do stay here, keep in mind that the rooms aren’t very spacious, you can hear everything, and there might be hair in your towels. Overall, I really loved staying here and found it to be quite charming. The view in front of the hotel is INSANE. Though I listed negative traits about this hotel, I feel that it’s important to give some transparency to readers of this review. Mostly everyone goes into a hotel thinking that it’s 1000% clean and perfect. However, for me, the negative reviews are what I look for so that I know what to expect. You will definitely love the vibes and views this hotel has to offer, as well as the friendliness of the staff who worlds here.
AAnonymous UserI was assigned to the adjacent building this time. I forgot to mention that the balconies of this hotel are too close to the neighboring rooms; you could practically step over. So, I always locked the patio doors when I left and when I slept. I only found out the next day that there was yoga 🧘♀️, which I really wanted to try! But I didn't bring any workout clothes, and the pool hours are from 8 AM to sunset. However, my itinerary was packed every day, so I didn't have time to experience any of it. Also, I have no idea what the breakfast is like, as I couldn't find any reviews mentioning it.
GGuest UserTremendous space & person! I arrived late (after 8pm) as a surprise for my Family Reunion & so after dinner. The caretaker met me kindly after I got into the door (clear & simple instructions were given) to help me to get my bearings, carry my 2 carryons to my room & lead me to my room. He also provided a cold bottle of water, MUCH appreciated! I found the place to be very clean, spacious & well-organized with simple instructions in the bathroom, kitchen & shared spaces. I appreciate the simplicity & cleanliness, while still giving me my space! TY again for this last-minute booking that turned into a true treasure for myself as an introvert needing space, cleanliness & simplicity. Mahalo & May ke Akua bless U always! Dawn
GGuest UserExcellent location to walk in the bay and park and gardens. Near good eating places too. Near airport as well. Enjoyed local food call poke as in pic.
EEmily Rose LDelightful hotel in a prime location: surrounded on a peninsula of sorts by lagoons/“ponds” filled with wildlife like herons, turtles, and fish. Each morning there are people fishing and enjoying the park next door and the pool is situated to enjoy all of this beauty.
The rooms are basic and dated but you have what you need and if you have a relaxed Hilo mindset you’ll probably enjoy the 60s tropical vibe as much as we did! Very basic continental breakfast (bread and fruit only), but an okay-looking restaurant on site. There is also a small party/liquor store and a gift shop.
Advice on how to make your experience feel like a resort:
- book room 416 or something around there: one with a balcony in the Oceanside.
- grab some meats and cheeses from the supermarket and if you can, hard boiled eggs or the like to supplement your breakfasts (there’s a fridge in your room and you can put your continental breakfast from the hotel in a To Go container that you re use each day).
-get up early each day to have breakfast in the balcony and enjoy your view a couple hours before the day’s activities. So special and relaxing!
AAnonymous UserThis hotel is definitely good in Hilo, Big Island, with beautiful scenery and a free botanical garden next to it where you can see the Hawaiian state bird, the nēnē goose. It is about a 10-minute drive from the airport. The interior decoration of the room is relatively ordinary, with large white walls. There is only a small outdoor swimming pool. The sea view room I booked does face the sea with all windows. It is very beautiful when I open the curtains in the morning.
There is another thunder point. This hotel does not clean the room by default for consecutive stays. You need to make an appointment for cleaning in advance or tell them that you need to clean every day when you check in. Otherwise, their room service will not enter the room!
The breakfast I booked on Ctrip included three breakfasts, but in fact, their hotel can only book two by default. When I got there, I contacted Ctrip again, and Ctrip refunded me the breakfast fee for one person.
Later, when I checked out, I asked the front desk to print out the bill to figure out how they calculated the breakfast. Here I will also introduce it to you: the hotel breakfast is priced at 25 yuan per person. It is not a buffet but a meal. After ordering, it will be posted to the room bill and charged according to the actual fee. But when I checked out, the front desk didn't mention the breakfast bill, and directly calculated the total bill. I found that the settlement email sent to me was the total bill including breakfast. I went back to the front desk and reminded her that I had booked a breakfast-included package. She said, ”Oh, sorry to check it.” Then she said she would refund 25 yuan/day/person (50 yuan/day) to my card. If I hadn't checked it, I would have charged it again without knowing it. So it is recommended that you don't include breakfast in this hotel. The quality of their a la carte breakfast is still good, and you can go to the restaurant to order it directly.
In addition, the beverage coupons given in the lobby bar can be used in the lobby bar, but I didn't find out until the last day that it can also be used in the breakfast room. One coupon can be exchanged for a glass of juice or soft drink. Then the hotel also has free hot coffee and hot tea, but it is hidden next to the restaurant. You have to ask to understand.
There are also two large cookies given when you check in, and you can ask her for them at any time. The front desk will be happy to give you two.
Here I provide information for people with social anxiety and friends who are not good at English.
AAnonymous UserImpressive service at the front desk and lots of chic amenities provided at the hotel. The rooms are very spacious and thoroughly cleaned prior to my stay. The balcony was a nice touch to the room and the view of Kona city center was unobscured. Very value for money!
