Camar Resort Langkawi

Pros: Good breakfast, clean beach, less crowded location, and only 15 minutes from the airport. Cons: The reception staff were arrogant and not hospitable. There were old, dirty slippers in the room, old furniture with a rusty mirror, dirty curtains, and visible dust. One of the beds was uneven, and we had to put paper under one of its legs so it wouldn’t move. It does not feel like a four-star hotel. Upon arrival, guests are given a list of rules that may result in additional charges (for example, staining their towels or bedsheets).

The hotel is totally overpriced. High ratings on Ctrip seem fake, as the hotel is almost entirely filled with Chinese guests, with very few international guests. • Poor Service: Painfully slow check-in. I was forced to pay a 120 MYR surcharge for my child, but received no extra bed, no kid's towels, and no kid's slippers. • Terrible Beach & Noise: A massive sewage pipe empties right onto the hotel beach, causing a gross smell. Cenang Beach is much better. There’s also construction noise next door. • Bad Room Conditions: The 40sqm room is so poorly laid out it can't fit a child's bed. The tap water is yellow. Drains are extremely slow, and the bathtub was completely clogged upon arrival. No disposable slippers provided. • Cheap Breakfast: Very limited food and they only serve instant coffee—unacceptable for this price point. • The Only Pro: The swimming pool is large and nice.

The resort was better than we anticipated, after reading some of the reviews. The location is excellent and the room a decent size. The breakfast was great and the restaurant served lovely food and drink at affordable prices. Don’t miss the happy hour to get tiger  beer special!! Cleanliness could be improved upon and the general upkeep needs some money putting in. The staff are helpful and willing but some could benefit from extra training to be more  efficient and more pro-active ie, clearing tables and clearing empty glasses from beach .  Reception were extremely helpful when a trip we had booked nearly turned into a disaster. They called the number in Singapore for us and helped to sort the issue. Loved the nature around the place and  the resort has such potential for great things. Some board games in the reading/ sitting area is a suggestion.  The check in/out is a bit weird and long so bear with.

If you're traveling with kids, book a room by the pool. Just slide the glass door and you're right in the water. The breakfast is really good, with a lot of protein. Refill service is super fast. Even during busy season, the buffet stays well-stocked through breakfast. The beach has plenty of sun beds, and the spot itself is fantastic. That said, in my experience, the jet skis and other activities make the beach and nearby area feel more commercial than private. It’s not your typical huge resort with buggies and all-inclusive, but it’s perfect for a quick two-night stay, good breakfast, clean beach, and sunbathing.. Cenang Mall is about a 15-minute walk, and there are lots of small restaurants nearby. Keep in mind, when we stayed there, there was construction next door, so the views and noises weren’t ideal for a holiday.

I stayed right next to the beach in a beautiful suite. Everything was clean and ready for me :) Customer service was fantastic. Definitely worth the value :)

Some of the rooms are old and tired. When we found issues the staff were very helpful in getting us moved. The hotel has a very picturesque and quiet beach. Staff are friendly. On the whole would recommend the hotel and definitely Langkawi as a place to visit.
