Hôtel Logis Restaurant la Fontaine

This was an overnight stop for my family of three plus pet dog. It is a smart looking hotel, located on a semi-rural dual carriageway, not far from the motorway network. There is plentiful on-site parking (although could be tight if many locals come here for lunch/dinner). There are extensive grounds to walk your dog. Our very clean bedroom was cramped, especially with the occasional third bed, but not a major issue if staying only one night, with a single overnight bag (leaving rest of luggage in the car). The very clean bathroom is similarly small, but not a problem. We slept well, on comfortable beds. The double sealed-unit glazing completely shut-out any road noise and the aircon kept us cool through the sultry night. We had no fridge nor tea/coffee making facility, which was a minor irritation. However, the much greater irritation was the room key, and I mean key as opposed to key-card. The key gets you into the room and is then used to energise the electrical supply to the room. And you only get the one key. So you can forget about keeping the aircon going when you all go to dinner. And, you all have to come back to the room together, otherwise the early sleeper has to lie in bed with the room unlocked (or be secure but woken up when others return to the room). This needs to be addressed! Having read previous reviews we were looking forward to dinner in restaurant. We sat outdoors on the terrace under canopy, which was pleasant. The French-language-only menu promised well but the food was actually bland and not well cooked (my pave ‘saignant’ came out medium and my daughter’s medium burger came out rare). My curried prawn starter had lots of veg but too few prawns. Price / quality ratio was not good. In the morning, we were possibly the last down to breakfast, at which time, what little was left was not appealing - so we skipped. Overall, staff was pleasant but not very engaging, possibly due to pressures of being understaffed, which was evident. Not that it made any difference to me, but when I checked in, the lady at reception ran her finger across a paper sheet with guest names hand written in a table, rather than calling up details on a computer screen. Very quaint but also symbolic of a place that needs a shake-up.

The perfect place for us to stay for two nights but you do need transport if you want to visit a small supermarket or a Patisserie nearby. The hotel is in a countryside setting with a field of sun flowers nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel had a lovely restaurant but it was pricey. Our room was lovely with a balcony and everything we could possibly need.

Excellent hotel, friendly staff, warm welcome. Rooms are cosy but very well equipped. Spotless clean shower room. Triple glazed with zero noise. Cherry in the cake the food. Exquisite. Great waiters. I will definitely be staying again. Thank you to all.
