We don't speak French and felt completely excluded from all the activities. Rooms were dirty, towels and bed smelling bad. Hotel is very old and needs renovation. Food not worth the extremely high price they ask - next day we went to eat out and pad much less and had a delicious meal. We also had a feeling that white people are less welcome or treated differently than black people.

About our stay in Caraiyou… The place is wonderful, green and ”beachy” but the service sucks… We went there for our first night of honeymoon… this was explicitly informed while the booking was done. The lady for the hotel informed that they would prepare a honeymoon service in the room. We also asked for a late checkout so we could rest the day and profit of the swimming pool and the beach (we wanted to pay for it of course) and it was said that we should request that the day we arrived which we had no problem with it… Our arrival date came and as it was our reception party we arrived about 15mins before the last time of checking in… We were received with a cold reception and the receptionist was kind of “lost” on her duties… and as we asked for the late check, she said that she couldn’t do it only her colleague in the morning… we were disappointed, but we trusted that in the next day we could get the desired the check out… Arriving to the room… we’ve noticed NO HONEYMOON SERVICE!! 😒😡😤 We started verifying the room and everything is old and outdated, the air conditioning has water drop… ahh and we’ve asked for a sea view and we got a glimpse of it in the corner of the balcony🙄 Next day, we woke up early, as the breakfast os only until 09:30 and no room service option to take it in bed… after breakfast, I’ve headed to the reception to ask for the late checkout, for my surprise the receptionist said : if you’d asked earlier… 😳 an I’ve said, that we did while doing the booking, receptionist said that they were full and that they could only give us 1:30 more… 😓 The disappoin**ent was so that we left earlier… In my opinion, the hotel has a lot of good assets that are not being used… the employees need to have a training how to well receive guests, how to sell their services. Also I’ve felt a little deceived as I would prefer that it was said to me right away that there was no late checkouts and I would maybe decide to go somewhere else… Important to say that there is also the need of modernization of services, it’s like they’ve stayed in the 80s which is not very attractive…old decoration, old furniture, linens ants in the bedroom..😬🙄😕. Maybe if you are coming on vacations it will not be as bad… but in Martinique there are a lot of other very nice hotels, less expensive and with an impeccable service! Where you can happily have your deserved vacation! If you don’t want to be disappointed, don’t choose Carayou Hotel & Spa !

Rooms are spread over a large area of tropical gardens, with plants identified with markers for those interested. Rooms are large and comfortable, but there is no coffee available in the rooms. Meals are served buffet style in a large hall, with breakfast included, but other meals for additional but reasonable cost. Lots of choices on the menu. There is a small beach, and two pools. A catamaran offering cruises docks at the hotel. A marina nearby has a number of restaurants and shops, and is the place to catch a boat to Fort de France in place of a cab, and for a much lower price. The guests are mostly French.

STAY AWAY! When I arrived at 11am from the airport, the rude staff refused to allow me to leave my suitcase, relax by the pool or even remain on the property until the official check-in time of 3pm, unless I sat in the bar. Even the tiniest hotels in Paris do this for guests with reservations, and check them in as soon as a room is ready. I finally carried my own baggage to a room at the back of the property and up a flight of stairs. My room, overlooking a parking lot, was not only very out-of-date and remarkably ugly, but I had to leave immediately as it also smelled terribly of cleaning chemicals for several hours. The air conditioning was freezing cold and could not be adjusted, and the relic telephone had no dial tone. The only option for dinner at the noisy restaurant with plastic chairs, was a buffet for an exhorbitant fixed price of 35 Euros. I was told the beach, which I had been looking forward to, was under construction and not to be used. One swimming pool blasted loud music, and the other was spoiled by boisterous unsupervised children. Having travelled from Canada to enjoy a brief stay in Martinique, I could not have been more disappointed! Only one manager the next day was polite and helpful. The fantastic location and view is 5 star, but the hotel should be demolished and rebuilt with a better layout!

Staying in accommodation at the residence via an individual, I did not have lunch at the hotel and therefore will not judge the catering or the accommodation of the individual which was perfect. As for the rest, it's borderline unsanitary, slippery floor panels everywhere, humidity everywhere with plants sticking out of the walls and tiles, the ceilings of the corridors collapsing. For swimming pools the same, tape to demarcate dangerous areas around the swimming pool, the liner and coping to be renovated, wooden deck which is rotten with boards which are crumbling and screws which protrude, the condemned gate, the obligatory pediluve which doesn't make you want to set foot there... No wifi everywhere, you have to be close to reception otherwise nothing. in short, far from a 3 star. A shame because the setting is superb, the hotel is ideally located next to the Pointe du Bout marina, 2 good-sized swimming pools and a private beach. Major work is to be planned to restore the splendor of the place.

A little throwback to our superb week at Carayou in Martinique. A team of top entertainers!!! Very attentive staff from our arrival on April 16 to our departure on the 22nd. Thanks to everyone and in particular to Gisèle who took care of our room, the 125 lawyer, and to Greg at the bar. The hotel is very well located, with marina and shops just a few steps away. Excellent cocktails, very good food with grilled fish (captain, snapper, parrotfish...) every day. Local dishes: fried bananas, christophines gratin, accras... Very complete sweet and savory breakfast. Magnificent beaches just minutes from the hotel Martinique is superb, lots of things to visit. I advise you to rent a car to visit in complete freedom. The people of Martinique are adorable. The return to mainland France was complicated

Family stay with our 4 year old child. Top location with a breathtaking view. Spacious but dated room, decent cleaning. We know that 80 rooms will be renovated shortly but in the meantime we have to stay in them. 5-star entertainment team ⭐️ Restaurant: big flop, it was very canteen-like, few specialties, poor in fruit (zero mango, zero coconut). Sad room decoration, no real change of scenery, luckily the view is crazy. The waitresses are generally not friendly, their dress code of black outfits doesn't help at all. Nice swimming pool but also dated furniture, tiles and pool liner. To summarize: an ideal location but if you want to discover don't stay locked in the hotel. Go and discover the surrounding restaurants and beaches.

My husband and I had a great stay and can't wait to go back. The complex is really well maintained and welcoming, the rooms are always clean with superb good bedding, the impeccable catering plus 5kg on the way back 😂. The staff listens and a big plus for Greg who is a very attentive person and always available to customers. Always smiling, pleasant and gives great tips for walks 😁😊 really a good asset for the hotel. We hope to come back soon 🤩
