☁️ Lijiang Ancient Town in Yunnan –
Returning to Lijiang after ten years, I chose this guesthouse located on Lion Hill (near Jiefeng Tower) and had a fantastic stay! I recommend everyone check a map of the ancient town before arriving to help with exploring later (because the ancient town is huge) [smile]
1️⃣ The ancient town is large with many guesthouse options, but you can choose based on your needs. This time, we picked a guesthouse on Lion Hill with a view of the snow-capped mountains. After confirming the booking, we contacted the guesthouse owner in advance to arrange airport pickup and discuss various questions. The owner was very patient.
2️⃣ The guesthouse itself is quite spacious and offers excellent value for money. It has four floors. You don't have to worry about the housekeeper or owner coming to Jiefeng Tower (the drop-off point) to pick up guests and help with luggage. Each room has its own unique style and character, with pleasant views. The third floor has a communal terrace where you can sit, chat, daydream, and enjoy tea or coffee. The fourth floor features Japanese-style rooms and corridors that are very photogenic [happy]
3️⃣ We stayed in two different styles of rooms, one on the third floor and one on the fourth. The size was just right, and I personally found them very cozy. The room on the third floor with a terrace is perfect for an afternoon of daydreaming. The tatami tea table in the fourth-floor room is ideal for enjoying tea while gazing into the distance. Both rooms offer views of Yulong Snow Mountain ⛰️ and the entire Lijiang ancient town at night. The bathroom is large and clean, and the shower facilities have a local touch. The air conditioning and humidifier work great and are noiseless (sleep-friendly).
4️⃣ The daily breakfast is either Yunnan rice noodles or a congee set. For several days, I had plain congee with sweet potatoes 🍠, which were absolutely delicious [crying with laughter]. The owner mentioned they soak the rice the day before. The owner also said that although it's a simple breakfast set, they continuously observe and inquire about guests' preferences for side dishes and change them accordingly. I believe this reflects a commendable attitude towards service that we can all learn from [bowing].
5️⃣ From the perspective of service, safety, and facilities, I believe this is a high-quality guesthouse that I would definitely revisit. I actually screened many guesthouses beforehand, but after staying here, I became even more convinced that I made the right choice, and it completely exceeded my expectations [folded hands].
