PpostcardsandstampsWe enjoyed our stay here, so when we returned from Shangri-la to Lijiang, we made a repeat booking at this place. The cleanliness of the place and the friendliness of the staff were the main reasons for our return. Location: This place is situated near the border of the Lijiang Ancient City. It is close to the main road (2 min walk) which makes it easy to meet your driver for airport transfer or any tour you join. It is also extremely convenient to get to the main attractions such as Mu Residence (5 min) and Zhongyi Night Market (6-8 min). You will be away from the hustle and bustle at night, and get some peace and quiet. Room: We were lucky that we got a room on the ground floor, as we had very heavy luggage. It would be very difficult to pull them up the stairs if we were on the upper floor. Every room has a different name, and shows that the owners put some thought into giving each of their guests a unique experience. The room we got was of moderate size, with a small sofa area for you to enjoy tea and snacks. There was also a kettle and four cups, and a 5-litre water dispenser that dispensed hot and cold water - I appreciated this, which was more environmentally friendly and generous than other accommodation which gave us 2 bottles of water (500ml each) each every day. The room was also equipped with heating, for the room and the floor, and they were controlled by the front desk. There was also a humidifier. The room's interior decoration was warm and cozy. Outdoor: We also enjoyed sitting outdoors, idling, gazing at the fish, watching the flowers bloom, while enjoying many cups of tea. Toilet: It was of decent size, with a shower cubicle that dispensed hot water pretty quickly. They provided us with everything so there's nothing you need to bring: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, slippers for shower, towels for body and hair, one-time face towels, hair dryer, body lotion, soap, detergent. Service: The staff was hospitable, friendly, and the service was impeccable. We enjoyed chatting with them over many cups of tea, and rose pastries. They even recommended travel routes and restaurants to us, which were very good, and we even got discounts or freebies by telling the restaurants where we were staying. It was easy to communicate with the staff on WeChat, they responded promptly, and arranged free airport transfer for us as we stayed more than three nights. Food: Breakfast was served every morning, which included a bowl of Yunnan mixian (noodles), a steamed bun, a hard-boiled egg, corn, and some spicy preserved vegetables. Every booking came with one serving of afternoon tea, which included rose pastries and a variety of fruits. We arrived after midnight and the staff prepared some rose pastries and fruit for us, in case we would be hungry, which was very thoughtful of them!

RRenee C.I had a truly memorable stay at YUNDU and would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, tastefully designed, and warm place to stay in Lijiang. Overall, the experience was very positive, with excellent service, cozy design, and many thoughtful touches. There were a few minor areas for improvement, but they did not take away from how much I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was excellent and honestly better than many meals I had outside. The local auntie who prepares breakfast is incredibly warm and friendly. The mixian is very foreigner-friendly, light, comforting, and not oily or salty like many outside options. I requested extra vegetables and additional boiled eggs, and she was more than happy to accommodate. This care really stood out. YUNDU’s Samoyed dog, Sanjin (三斤), is truly the heart and mascot of the hotel. He is extremely friendly and intelligent. Staff would say things like “去拍照，去跟姐姐玩” and Sanjin would immediately come over. During my afternoon tea, he quietly came over and sat beside me, which was a very heart-warming moment. Upon checkout, I even received Sanjin fridge magnets and a Polaroid photo, which was incredibly thoughtful. First impressions were great. As part of the package, YUNDU arranged an airport pickup from Lijiang Airport using a clean, comfortable EV. The driver was friendly, chatty, and helpful, and the ride to the hotel was smooth and relaxing. I was pleasantly surprised with a free room upgrade. The upgraded room was spacious, perfect for morning stretching, and included a large and very clean bathtub. Bath balls and a sheet mask were provided, which was a lovely winter touch. The bed was very comfortable. The pillows were a bit soft for me, but there were firmer ones available, and layering them worked well. The blanket was thick, soft, and warm, and even during power outages, I stayed comfortable. Facilities were well thought out, including a Laifen hair dryer with strong airflow, a large high-definition TV facing the bed with VIP streaming access, and a large humidifier suitable for overnight use. The bathroom layout was excellent for winter, with separated toilet and shower. The electronic toilet has heating and auto-flush, and the shower area includes warm air from above. The mirror lighting is also great for makeup. There were some minor layout quirks. There is no floor heating, and the slippers were placed far from the entrance. The electric kettle was placed on a cabinet with no power socket nearby. Service was one of YUNDU’s strongest points. Staff helped with luggage, provided room tours, and checked in regularly via WeChat. When I mentioned possible altitude discomfort, they even gifted me an oxygen tank. The boss was friendly and happily helped me take photos with Sanjin. The only small gap was the butler service. I only realised who my butler was on the last night, and one included service, a butler-accompanied visit to Baisha Ancient Town, which never happened — neither I nor the staff remembered it until I reviewed my package later on Trip.com. That said, my butler was extremely efficient in arranging transportation to Lugu Lake, with smooth coordination and reasonable pricing. The entire property is tastefully decorated, cozy, and inviting. The fireplace in the lobby is a highlight and perfect for winter evenings. During my first two nights, there were power outages. While this delayed some of my work, the room stayed warm. The upside was zero light pollution, and I could see a sky full of stars, which became one of my favourite moments of the stay. I strongly recommend YUNDU to anyone looking for a beautiful view, thoughtful design, warm service, and a cozy yet affordable stay in Lijiang. If you love Lijiang, come to Baisha. If you love Baisha, come to YUNDU.

GGuest UserI just want to show my appreciation to the staff at the motel!  First of all, the staff was super nice and attentive! She spoke softly and gently.  And most importantly, we booked for the most expensive type of room, and it’s definitely worth it! The view was amazing!!!  The room was also spotlessly clean, with heater and humidifier (which are crucial in winter)  Honestly, there is not much in the neighbourhood, but I did enjoy the quietness and peaceful moments there! We took a free taxi (offered by the staff) and visited lijiang old town (around 20 mins away)  The breakfast was good enough (given it’s a small motel) My kids got their portion of breakfast for free too. And the staff kept asking if we needed more!  I wish I had stayed for 1-2 days so I could have more time to enjoy the peaceful time!  Will surely recommend this place!

Here are the highlights: 1. **Excellent Location**: Just a two-minute walk through the alley brings you to Sifang Street. It truly is a quiet oasis amidst the hustle and bustle. 2. **Attentive Service**: The service was thorough and detailed in every aspect. The guesthouse arranged complimentary airport pick-up and drop-off. The transfer of people and luggage was seamless and very efficient. Since we were flying to different cities at different times, the guesthouse thoughtfully arranged separate drop-offs for each of us. The laundry service was also incredibly convenient for long-term travelers like us. 3. **Mountain View Room**: You can see the snow-capped mountains right from the room. It felt like being embraced by the mountains, perfect for relaxing and watching the clouds, mountains, and sunset. 4. **Complimentary Tea Room**: The tea room offers free tea. We bought some interesting fruits from Zhongyi Market and had a 'fruit test' while sipping tea, which was a delightful experience.

HHemeixin☁️ Lijiang Ancient Town in Yunnan – Returning to Lijiang after ten years, I chose this guesthouse located on Lion Hill (near Jiefeng Tower) and had a fantastic stay! I recommend everyone check a map of the ancient town before arriving to help with exploring later (because the ancient town is huge) [smile] 1️⃣ The ancient town is large with many guesthouse options, but you can choose based on your needs. This time, we picked a guesthouse on Lion Hill with a view of the snow-capped mountains. After confirming the booking, we contacted the guesthouse owner in advance to arrange airport pickup and discuss various questions. The owner was very patient. 2️⃣ The guesthouse itself is quite spacious and offers excellent value for money. It has four floors. You don't have to worry about the housekeeper or owner coming to Jiefeng Tower (the drop-off point) to pick up guests and help with luggage. Each room has its own unique style and character, with pleasant views. The third floor has a communal terrace where you can sit, chat, daydream, and enjoy tea or coffee. The fourth floor features Japanese-style rooms and corridors that are very photogenic [happy] 3️⃣ We stayed in two different styles of rooms, one on the third floor and one on the fourth. The size was just right, and I personally found them very cozy. The room on the third floor with a terrace is perfect for an afternoon of daydreaming. The tatami tea table in the fourth-floor room is ideal for enjoying tea while gazing into the distance. Both rooms offer views of Yulong Snow Mountain ⛰️ and the entire Lijiang ancient town at night. The bathroom is large and clean, and the shower facilities have a local touch. The air conditioning and humidifier work great and are noiseless (sleep-friendly). 4️⃣ The daily breakfast is either Yunnan rice noodles or a congee set. For several days, I had plain congee with sweet potatoes 🍠, which were absolutely delicious [crying with laughter]. The owner mentioned they soak the rice the day before. The owner also said that although it's a simple breakfast set, they continuously observe and inquire about guests' preferences for side dishes and change them accordingly. I believe this reflects a commendable attitude towards service that we can all learn from [bowing]. 5️⃣ From the perspective of service, safety, and facilities, I believe this is a high-quality guesthouse that I would definitely revisit. I actually screened many guesthouses beforehand, but after staying here, I became even more convinced that I made the right choice, and it completely exceeded my expectations [folded hands]. OOris7643Our friend recommended this amazing guesthouse at the entrance of Yuhu Village, and the meticulous care and attention truly exceeded our expectations. They don't treat you like a distant 'god,' but rather like a caring friend who anticipates your every need and even goes beyond. Firstly, they ensure your arrival and departure are hassle-free; since we booked for two nights, they provided pick-up and drop-off from the train station and airport. Secondly, it's a 'one night, two meals, and one afternoon tea' package, meaning breakfast and dinner are included. The Laxi spare rib hotpot for dinner was so generous we couldn't finish it all, and the afternoon tea starting at 2:30 PM is substantial enough to fill you up even if you skip lunch – it's practically three meals a day! There's also 24/7 complimentary coffee, milk tea, and various soft drinks, plus unlimited fresh fruit, so you'll never know what hunger feels like. The rooms are ultra-modern, with Xiao Du (smart assistant) always ready to serve, and aromatherapy candles to help you relax. Daily activities are plentiful too: forest foraging, horseback riding, Naxi traditional weaving, making roasted milk tea, and crafting – you won't get bored even if you just stay at the hotel. You can also opt for a paid activity like horseback riding and hiking in the Grand Canyon for a close encounter with Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. In short, you won't be disappointed.

11865187****Let's start with the positives: 1. The auntie who makes breakfast noodles with sauce is fantastic; I had them for three days straight because they were so delicious. 2. The hotel staff are very enthusiastic and respond quickly to any issues. They work tirelessly from morning till night. The 4.5-star rating is based on these two points! 3. The location on top of Lion Mountain offers easy access to and from the ancient town. 4. The hotel is relatively new. There's a small viewing platform next to the front desk with good views. Now for the issues, to be completely honest: I was drawn in by the 4.9-star rating. I'm not sure how Ctrip calculates its scores nowadays. 1. I stayed in room 205, which was advertised as 28 square meters. It has one double bed, and a bench at the foot of the bed. The actual floor space in the room feels like about four double beds could fit, but one double bed completely fills the sleeping area. The only small round stool was one I had to ask for. Honestly, I've traveled for over 20 years and seen many 28-square-meter rooms, and I can't agree with this measurement. There's just a bench at the foot of the bed, then the projector screen. 2. The bathroom is tiny, pitifully small. It's just big enough for the toilet. I'm 1.59 meters tall, and when I sit completely, my legs are as shown in picture one; if I try to sit a bit more normally, the bathroom door won't close. 3. The glass sliding door is dangerous! It's stiff and gets stuck when opening or closing. I struggled to slide it when showering. 4. Shower water: I stayed three nights. On the first night, around 11 PM, almost midnight, the water was lukewarm – I couldn't shower. The staff member did resolve it immediately by asking us to wait half an hour for the water to heat up. This ended up taking until about 1 AM, which was exhausting. The second night was fine. On the third night, showering around 9 PM, the water was either scalding or freezing when adjusted, fluctuating back and forth multiple times. I ended up having a rushed shower, which was quite a frustrating experience. 5. Air conditioning: On the first night, I set the AC to 26°C, but I froze all night and woke up with a stuffy nose. The staff told me I needed to set the AC to 28.5°C; I was stunned. I had just come from Meili and Shangri-La, which are much colder than Lijiang. I guess I've never encountered an AC unit that needs to be set to 28.5°C to be warm enough… you can imagine its heating effectiveness. 6. The hotel's smart design: As soon as you open the curtains, you can see the bed opposite, and everything on it is clearly visible. Zero privacy. 7. My final point is a suggestion: I stayed three nights, and the breakfast didn't change at all. I personally suggest a little variety would be a more thoughtful touch. Someone will probably ask why I didn't change hotels or rooms given these issues. Honestly, frequent travelers don't particularly care if a hotel is luxurious or not; clean and decent is usually enough. Switching back and forth is truly a hassle – packing and moving luggage is too annoying. It's just for sleeping, after all. Oh, and on the last night, around 10:30 PM, the projector TV suddenly started fast-forwarding, pausing, and blurring on its own, which scared me to death. It might have been a machine malfunction, but it gave me a significant fright. I first came to Lijiang in 2005 and have visited 5-6 times since, in different seasons, staying in various hotels and guesthouses. In this very weak off-peak season, there are many choices for a 398 CNY per night room, and this one really wasn't worth it. Lijiang was originally just a stopover for us because of altitude sickness, prompting us to come down from Meili earlier and stay an extra night, but it was truly disappointing. While strolling through the ancient town, we saw guesthouses touting for business, and we even checked some out. So, there's definitely room for improvement!

SSheryl 宜芬Cleanliness: room was slightly dusty. Spiders and insects in the room, but expected because it has many oriental decorations that require constant cleaning to prevent dust accummulation. Location: convenient, it’s of walking distance to the north gate, easy to stroll around to different parts of the ancient town. Service: I have never given a bad review for the service attitude of any accomodations which I’ve stayed at in China, but I honestly think that the service here is mediocre and more reactive than proactive. They fulfil the basics of bringing your luggage up to your room, giving directions to the laundry and breakfast areas and arranging for pick up from the station to the hotel for a stay of at least three consecutive nights. I cannot speak for all the service staff, but the service staff that mainly tended to me during the stay definitely needs to be improved. He was helpful when I needed help for the laundry setting. However, when I needed help with booking tickets to snow mountain (I’m a foreigner and do not have a local number), it was a rather frustrating experience. He shared that the booking of tickets to Yulong Snow Mountain can be done 3-4 days in advance, and he could help me when I arrive at the accommodations. When I arrived, it was 4 days in advance but he was rather nonchalent and did not manage to help me secure tickets for my intended date of visit and had to eventually rely on the tour group to help change dates. The night before the tour visit, I had to reach out on wechat to ask about when and where the meeting point is for the tour. Even after the tour, I even had to ask several times to pay for the tour tickets as he had helped me to secure the ticket to the glacier park cablecar eventually. I had already shared that I could not transfer money on wechat and could only do via scanning his wechat/alipay qr code or vice versa. I feel that given that you guys are located in Lijiang and located near to Jade Snow Mountain, you should have encountered other customers who need help with the booking and this shouldn’t have been such a stressful tour booking experience. Amenities: they have two all-in-1 washing machine and drying amenities which was rather helpful. In the original room which i had booked, the air con leaked at around 10pm+. I texted the service staff on wechat and another staff came 5-10minutes later to check. This staff said it’s normal for the air con to leak at times especially if it’s blocked. After checking, he offered to change rooms for me. He helped me to move my luggage to the new room. There was no form of apology by any of the staff on the day itself when the incident happened. It was only on the next day when I requested for check-out transportation services to the railway station for the following day, where the staff who mainly tended to be apologised for the aircon leakage and offered complimentary transport services to the railway station. I’ve stayed in many accomodations in Yunnan but this was the most disappointing stay thus far and I will definitely not be back again.

It is such a Beautifully Constructed Hotel with West Lake like Environment surrounding with Villas giving you a Big Beautiful Chinese style Garden Ambience. I am lucky to get a Free Upgrade to a Villa with Swimming Pools and Jade Dragon Mountain View right in front of Bedroom with a Garden (many thanks to their front office staffs). What impressed me the Most is all their Staffs are so Well Trained on All the Details Focusing on giving you the Best Services that Anyone would ask for. 5 Stars to their Top Management Direction, Management Implementation, All Ground Staffs Dedication to giving World Class Services. Their Restaurant Foods Quality is also very Good and at very Reasonable Pricing for a 5 Stars Restaurant. Do get their Restaurant Breakfast Package which is really Worth it for their Variety and Good Quality Foods. I will highly Recommend this Hotel for anyone that is Visiting Lijiang as even their Location is Perfect at the Middle of the 3 ancient towns so traveling around is within 10-25mins and away from the noisy busy ancient towns. It's my first time spending so much time and efforts to give this honest review because i simply think the Whole Banyan Tree Team deserves it. GGuest UserI booked for two days as a solo traveler. The room was very spacious, and having an elevator made it much more convenient than staying inside the old town. My main activity was hiking, which meant my clothes would get sweaty and dusty. The hotel having a washer-dryer combo was incredibly convenient for this, but unfortunately, it suddenly stopped drying on the second day, which was a real shame. The room was well-equipped, though some amenities had minor imperfections. For example, the Xiao Ai smart speaker wasn't connected to the internet, so its smart functions couldn't be used; the hotel might need to ensure it's properly connected. Overall, at this price point, it's an excellent choice. I'd definitely come back again.
