The Golden Lion at Settle

A tiny hiccup to start, the bed was a double not a twin as requested by phone many weeks previously. This was quickly rectified and apologised for by the most amazing lady. Long streaked hair, I regret not getting her name. The Character Double was worth paying for. Great size, with a settee and 2 chairs. Spotlessly clean, quality furnishings and White Stuff toiletries which I now need to buy because they were so good. Comfy beds and a nice quiet room as requested. The evening meal was delicious. I am still dreaming about the sauce that was in my seafood penne. Sourdough bread with sage and orange butter, genius. Served by the busy lady who helped us with the bed problem. Breakfast was lovely and substantial. Throughout all of the stay, I can honestly say that the standout thing was the friendliness of the staff. I work in customer service, so when the whole team display constant standards of care, they should be applauded. We loved our stay and would not hesitate to go back.

Lots of Good things. The pub is warm with a lovely fire, The food is probably the best cheese pie I have ever had. The staff particularly the waiting staff are excellent. Downside for me was poor quality sleep. We had room 10 looking over the kitchen (someone has to have it). The fan went off eventually however, the most annoying thing was that the smoke alarm clicked literally every few minutes. If you are a light sleeper you will not be able to sleep with this regardless of the ear plugs they supply.

Amazing, highly recommended the steak and the chicken burger, the pub is lovely and the best pub food we have in a while amazing and friendly and helpful staff couldn’t thank Tasha abbie and rob enough for there friendly and welcoming service x

Called in for a drink and what a lovely welcome from the staff, especially our two dogs. We sat in the courtyard and my husband had a pint of the Paradise IPA which was superb and I had a wine. We will be back to sample the food as it looked fab. A great pub and place to stay in a wonderful market town. Well worth a visit.

Great British Pub in the centre of the lovely town of Settle. Lovely atmosphere nice efficient staff and very good food. Highly recommend a visit here. Good choices of food and beers. We came in twice in 3 days and enjoyed the warmth and hospitality.

My mother in law and aunty were booked to stay there on 27th October for a wedding. They checked in and were given a key. As the room was not ready they took their luggage and were told to use the main door as they would be back late. When they arrived back the door was locked when it should not have been. Key card would not work. The number listed just rang out and out and several voicemails were left by them and me. 1am the morning and two elderly ladies left outside in the cold. Why do they not have a night porter/emergency number? We had to travel from Lancashire to come pick them up in the early hours and then drop them back off. The emergency procedures need seriously reviewing and someone putting on call to answer the phone in the case of emergencies, and to not to lock the door when guests need to get in. They were banging on the door and we left numerous messages which still nobody has had the courtesy to ring up and apologise. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired
