Afon Duad Inn

This was my third stay at Afon Duad Inn. The accommodation was booked to support my exhibition preparation at the National Wool Museum, Drefach Felindre, Llandysul. After such a positive first stay, I asked my colleagues to book Afon Duad again. The Inn is warm, which is not an easy achievement in winter in rural west Wales; the bed was very comfortable, I fell asleep immediately, and the evening meal and breakfast were delicious. I greatly appreciated the inclusion of local produce in the menu. What transformed my stay into an exceptional experience was the genuine friendly welcome from Sandra and Sion. I felt like I was part of the community, which, as a solo traveller, meant so much to me. I wasn't at the Wool Museum when my exhibition opened, but I was really touched that Sandra and Sion went to see it. I have more trips to the Wool Museum, and if Afon Duad has availability, this is where I will stay.

Seems a common theme regarding 'A drink on the house' Do not have a tab , pay for your drinks when you receive them and if given a sample or a drink you didn't order tell the owner to take it away you don't want it otherwise he WILL charge you for it. His view was 'I have to make a living' . Having had personal experience of this establishment I am surprised that more reviews don't reflect the owners disingenuous tactics to get money out of customers as I am certainly not the only one to be duped.

Great nights stay Excellent place to stay with great facilities and hosts who make you very welcome! Highly recommend stopping off.

1 Night stay A lovely Inn out in the countryside with a great history to it. Friendly and helpful.

Sandra and Sion are exceptional hosts. They welcomed us with true Welsh hospitality and made our 5 day visit to the area that much more enjoyable. I can’t reccomend their Inn enough, we really felt like honoured guests. The breakfast and dinners were all of high quality sourced from the Celtic pride quality label of producers. We were asked if we wanted things that weren’t on the menu, then miraculously those items appears either on the menu the next day, or were available as a special for us to eat the next day. They’d get 5 stars for that alone in my view however their genial, local and authentic approach to guests, their pride in Wales and Welsh hospitality are evident from the moment you walk in so I’d giving them an extra star (6 stars) I’ve never had such bespoke service from anywhere I’ve stayed, therefore I would wholeheartedly and unreservedly reccomend this to anyone wishing to stay in the Carmarthen area. Thank you Sion, thank you Sandra, you made my son and myself feel like special guests.

I stayed over on my way to a car show the food was great and I had a great night with Sion and Sandra lots of laughs made to feel really welcome will be staying again next year for the show.
