Only needed someone to stay for a weekend family party and this place did not disappoint. We booked a lodge & we got more than we anticipated. SO clean, full kitchen kitted out with all your necessities, comfortable beds and brand new bathroom and all for £100 a night. Very good for the money. Very friendly staff too.

Over the last few years we have visited acorn almost every thursday. Some days for lunch and some for just a cuppa and the children can play in the park and we love it. Sadly the last twice we have visited have been awful. We came a few weeks ago with our 2 small children and there was another family there with 2 small girls, our children and these 2 small girls waited an waited while a group of teenagers were sat on the trampoline. We waited a while before the girls mum said something a they got off they started shouting and swearing so we left. We thought we would give acorn another chance as it wasn’t their fault so we went for lunch this week(31stjuly) yes it was very hot but the girls working their with shorts so short you can see their bums…. Not what I want to see and not what I want my children to see. I understand it’s hot but also there should be some sort of standard especially in a kitchen. We sat outside waiting for our food the play area is a mess the flooring is so old there is holes everywhere it’s very unsafe. And then the food arived it was awful the sandwiches were so soggy they literally fell apart. The children had chicken goujons I couldn’t even cut with a knife they were rock hard and the chips were covered in cracked black pepper which was just too much on a children’s meal. All in all we have been so disappointed we won’t return and such a shame because we visit our aunt at Manor Park every Thursday and we always walk to acorn for lunch but will defiantly avoid it from now on.

Great campsite! We were in the ‘wild’ camping section, and it was super peaceful whilst still being close to the toilets. The showers and toilets were clean and warm and it was great to have the shop and cafe on site. Really friendly staff too and the nearby beaches and walks are wonderful

Booked for Fathers Day lunch been as it was a special menu took 3 attempts to check I was booked in even driving down to check as well as no return call. Turned up ordered food and drinks sat and waited for our drinks to no avail chased them up about 15 minutes later to be told it’s help yourself - ok so help yourself to a glass ice and cider how when they were behind the counter. The girl couldn’t even remember serving or what we’d actually ordered. Then were asked had we booked replied yes and we checked in at the counter they’d not ticked us off that we actually there. Then told the gammon listed on the mixed grill wasn’t available only 2 slices of bacon instead on a special Father’s Day menu I may state that was only issued a few days prior. . Overall the atmosphere was flat and really poor considering it was Father’s Day not very welcoming with BBC radio 2 on wasn’t a great thing to listen to whilst eating. Food was mediocre sadly which surprised us knowing the chef our daughter’s burger was hard and not edible she left that the food wasn’t up to standard really I much prefer breakfasts I live and learn. We sat in playground for a while this needs an urgent tidy up the ramp is blocked by pedal cars how do people with accessible issues access please? Benches in poor condition only down to 1 swing and everything was filthy sadly I’m sorry Acorn I don’t know what’s going on but poor and it’s somewhere I love to visit

Last year I stayed here for two nights on a hardstanding pitch with no electric for £16pn. It's a pleasant enough site so all good. New owners have just taken over, and have doubled the cost to £32pn for the same thing! - one person, hardstanding pitch, no electric. Unfortunately the 5* prices are not matched by the 2* facilities - very run down and dirty and in need of an upgrade, with many of the toilets and showers 'out of order' (I can only speak for the men's side). Very disappointing.

Booked for one man and his well behaved dog in a tent for a two night weekend. Met by Diane, who explained where everything was, took me to my (sheltered, flat, grassy and excellent) pitch and was very friendly and helpful. Shower block large and fine. Plenty of hot water, clean toilets, all good. Café excellent. Had cooked breakfast and took fresh rolls for self made lunch. Very pleasant, dog friendly. About a mile walk through a farm to Llanwit Major beach. Coastal walks in both directions. Really liked this campsite. Felt safe, friendly and a good base to explore from. Will return. Thanks!

We stayed here as a family of 4 and our dog over bank holiday weekend (camping with electric). Check in was easy and the lady at reception was very welcoming and helpful. We had no problems there at all. The staff were lovely and very pleasant. The shop stocked bread/milk so very handy if you need last minute bits and bobs. The cafe looks lovely, we didn't use it unfortunately but my family came to visit and they said the food was lovely. Showers and toilets are a bit of a walk from the tents but not overly far. I found them clean and spacious. My little boy loved the park so we hardly saw him the weekend because he was so busy playing. Shops and takeaways about a 5 minute drive from the site. I would definitely stay here again as we really enjoyed our stay.

To say they are dog friendly is an understatement! I took my palliative Dog Ellie for what may well be her last trip, the staff especially Rachel were so kind stung and patient, the food was excellent, the site was clean, the location was stunning! But most of all the staff were fantastic especially Rachel what a kind hard working person she is!! Thank you we will be back!
