Friendly staff. Good hot tub, just take a dressing gown as access is via the car park.

Fantastic short stay at the Grey Gull. Room was more than adequate, shower room a tad small but working around an old building must bring it's own challenges. Clean and comfy. Gorgeous views across the loch. Food was excellent as was the service of all staff. Shout out for Leah who was so welcoming and friendly. Finished late at night and bright eyed at breakfast service. Area was lovely and walk along Crinan Canal us well worth it..

My wife and I won an overnight stay with dinner & breakfast included at the grey gull hotel in a local raffle. We arrived mid afternoon and it was all downhill from there. It was such a bad experience from the dirty hotel exterior, the unwelcoming entrance, the dirty hallway & stairs to the absolutely awful dinner we were served. It was so bad that after ‘dinner’ we decided not to stay and drove 2 hours back home instead! Possibly the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. It was so bad we didn’t stay even when it was free!

I had the ground floor room, ideal for those with accessibility needs. A little living room area was good to so not having to sit on the bed all the time. Room was clean, good shower, although water was cold on the second day. Lovely breakfast, staff were helpful. All amenities in walking distance. Will stay here again.

We stayed 2 nights here. I usually try to find positives to start any review but am struggling with this one. The entrance is unwelcoming - tired decor and a dirty frayed carpet leading upstairs. Reception is a grey cubicle. The first impression is of a neglected rundown building. The receptionist was friendly and helpful as was the waiter in the restaurant. The room had a brown theme, with curtains falling off the track and filthy windows with bits of cardboard wedged into draughty gaps. The bathroom had been updated and was clean. There was luke warm water for a shower on the second morning. We felt lucky to get hot water the first morning as some guests didn’t. Breakfast was very poor. Old black bananas on the first morning, 3 basic cereals and juice. The porridge was fine. We were told they didn’t do boiled eggs but the cooked breakfast was “ok” according to my husband. The room was not cleaned or attended to at any point during our stay. I love staying in hotels but couldn’t wait to leave this one and shudder to think what impression it gives of our country to foreign tourists

I'd like to leave a review of a recent stay that wasn't too enjoyable, speaking to the manager since leaving has just made it worse as it feels like we have just been fobbed off First of all I had to go looking for someone to check us in, he then advised us he was hugging the pot washer in the kitchen to heat up. We went in the room which had been decorated as I had asked which was great fully appreciated but it was absolutely freezing and took ages to heat up. The bathroom door didn't stay shut, the radiator didn't work so bathroom was ice cold with the tiles The bath ran cold, we had to use the kettle to boil water to heat it up! We went down for dinner and we were the first people in the restraurant, the girl that was serving made it clear that she had just been left to it.. didn't know if we had a booking, was telling us how she was left on her own to do the bar, serve, clean up! Not very inviting when your just wanting a nice meal, every other table that got seated got the same speel! She forgot a drinks order, then the table next to us wanted a Strawberry daquari or another cocktail and she advised to choose the other one as the daquari was the hardest to make! My partner ordered muscles and they weren't available, no apology just "the muscles aren't available, you will need to pick something else" The food came and we were disappointed in that aswell especially for the price we paid for it Overall dinner wasn't a great experience. When we checked in I asked about using hot tub and the guy asked a time as he was on his own and would need to turn them on so I said about 730/8, I then asked the girl at the restaurant if they would be ready on-time she said she would go and check as she didn't think they were on She then came back and said they hadn't been filled up so we couldn't use them, again no apology or anything. Other people in the bar advised the hot tubs had water in them and they were warm, when I asked the girl she just snapped at me and said the water doesn't cover the jets so I wouldnt get in them! I booked the hotel specifically because it had the restaurant, hot tob and the bath in the room and drove 2.5 hours to get there to then be disappointed with dinner, not use the hot tub, use a cold bath and then sit in a freezing room! I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone as this was not an enjoyable stay. The girl that was on for breakfast was good and helpful, so that is why I never complained to her as none of it was her fault.

It's my first time eating at The Grey Gull and I was blown away by how delicious the food was. I even did a little happy dance.... that happens when it's beyond my expectations. The soup was flavourful, the pakora and breaded mushrooms crunchy and juicy and the pizza was light, cheesy and with a fantastic tomato base sauce. I wish I had a bigger appetite so I could eat dessert but if anything it's a great excuse to come back. I can't wait to try other menu items on my next visit. Eleanor was also friendly and attentive while also giving us space. Bring on the next food adventure 😋

Ordered off the special February menu. Two courses 12.00, three courses 14.50. Three choices per course. Excellent value for money, tasty well presented warm food served by a very pleasant and hard working waitress. Good to see a local establishment making an effort to get customers offering excellent deals. We'll done.

The staff where very polite and friendly but we where let down by the food which was fish and chips , the chips where actually really tasty but the fish was disgusting, when cut through the batter inside was just slimy mush we both couldn't eat the fish you can tell it must of been frozen fish or it was off fish as it was so mushy and slimy inside it put us off eating it , we wouldn't order that from the menu again
