Perfect, cosy retreat We really appreciated having the space to spread out and relax after a week on the road. We also appreciated use of the washing machine. Top tip: make sure you have supplies before turning up to stay, it's a long way from any shop!

We had 2 lovely days here thanks to paul the cottage was lovely and welcoming. The wood fire was great and the couple of days without tv was nice. Bring some cd,s for the player so you can enjoy the datk nights and music together. Heartly recommend this place.

We stayed in the cottage which was originally the Smithy’s workshop. It was great experience, Paul met us when we arrived and explained to the history and the various facilities. The cottage is nicely decorated and comes with everything you could want. We had a great overnight stay and would definitely recommend and come again. One tip, there is a skylight window which Paul does explain how to draw the blind on. However, we didn’t manage it! If you do mind the light coming through, then suggest you ask him to do it before he leaves you. It wasn’t great bother for us.

This is our second trip to the Smithy house and have enjoyed it both times. Paul is very friendly and helpful. We love the glittering toilet! The beds are comfortable and the room is tidy. It’s quiet and a short ride to the Stoer Lighthouse where there are amazing views.

Out of a 17 day trip this was our favorite location! We would have loved to stay several nights. This is so tranquil and cozy. A full kitchen, family room, sheep out in the pasture, we just didn't want to leave. Perfect place to stay for heading to Handa Island and then returning.

Quiet peaceful cottage, a perfect two night stopover for some relief from driving these roads. The cottage is warm and comfortable with heaters and a wood burner fire. Good kitchen facilities for self-catering. There are walking opportunities and beaches close by. Paul is very friendly, helpful and accommodating, he is a great host.

Stunning location and property. There was so much space inside the property it made a welcome change from some of the more typical hotel accommodation we have stayed at on our #NC500 tour I'm actually sat in the cottage writing this review and love the fact the bed room is separate from the kitchen/lounge which is especially useful if one of you likes to get to bed earlier. Like a lot of non-hotel remote properties this does not have a TV but does have Internet access and they provide a portable DVD player (we didn't use this) and a selection of disks. There is also a selection of books. The owner is very friendly and helpful and we highly recommend this property.

This was a fantastic 2 days on our summer NC500 trip. Paul was a fantastic host and made us feel totally at home. Everything you could possibly need, including eggs from the pretty hens. Loads of books, games and DVDs, cosy log burner with all fuel prepared for you in the nearby log store. We have rebooked for a longer stay of a week next summer and we can’t wait to get back there!!
