Lilac Tree Suites

Lilac Tree is the perfect hotel for a Mackinac Island stay. The balcony overlooking the street allows you hear the clip clop of the horses. It is in the center of town so a quick walk to dinner or shopping. The room was very clean and the staff very friendly. Cookies and milk at turn down was a nice surprise.

We have stayed here the last two years. It is very clean and rooms are spacious. The beds are very comfortable. Usual get a balcony room so I can sit out there and read when the rest of the family rides bikes. Will stay here again. Left my yeti cup and they are sending it back to me.

A lovely classic hotel in the heart of Main Street. The room and bathroom were recently updated. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Just so relaxing to sit on the balcony and hear the clip-clop of the horses. It takes you back in time. Easy walk to a number of good restaurants and bars.

I brought my mom to the island for the first time for Mother's Day. I've always wanted to stay at The Lilac Tree and thought this was the perfect opportunity. I booked a 2 Queen Island View room and it did not disappoint! We had a view of Market Street and could even see The Grand through the trees (they didn't all have leaves yet). The room was gorgeous and HUGE! It includes a living room area with a wet bar, and the bedroom area is quite large. It was perfect for my mom and me since we have different sleep schedules typically, and we weren't disturbing each other. I loved the Pink Pony bath products, I wish I could buy them at the store! I also loved that Poppins, Little Luxuries, and the Island Bookstore were steps away from the elevator. These are some of my favorite stores, and I spent a lot of time at all of them, thanks to the proximity. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, and I never heard my neighbors. In fact, I didn't think anyone was in the room next to us until I ran into our neighbor while dropping off some shopping! For the price, room size, and amenities, I think The Lilac Tree is an amazing value. I will absolutely be back, and I can't wait to book a balcony room!

We stayed here for the Lilac Festival and really enjoyed it. It's centrally located right in the middle of Main Street, so not too far to walk either to Marquette Park/the fort (and then further down the marina to the Mission area), or in the other direction towards Windermere Point and the boardwalk. Plenty of nearby restaurants, fudge shops, both ferry docks, the bike rentals, etc. Our room was very charming - there were 6 of us and we had a room with a bedroom with 2 queens for me, my husband and our two kids, and then a little sitting room that had a pull out couch where my mom and sister stayed. This also had a balcony overlooking Main Street and even a bit of a lake view if you looked out. It was a great place for people watching (although sometimes a little noisy) and watching the parade on the last day of the festival! Both rooms were decorated in a very charming way - ours had a blush pink/spring green theme and our beds were soft and comfy. The sitting room had a little kitchenette area (sink, fridge, microwave) and a coffee maker with plenty of pods. They were separated by a spacious bathroom area with two sinks and plenty of counter space for all of us, and a bathroom with a full tub/shower. Even the lobby, elevators and hallways are all very nicely decorated, everything with a floral and lilac theme. Overall it was comfy and relaxing, although my mom did say the pull out couch was very uncomfortable. For future nights she slept on the couch cushions on the floor (my sister was fine with the pull out). We also enjoyed using the outdoor hot tub over at the Chippewa a few blocks down the street, but it is kind of annoying making that walk (especially coming back!) but the hot tub is large and right on the marina. One of the nights it was quite hot but the other it was barely bathwater temperature. There's no food/restaurant onsite, but we did purchase breakfast tickets for the Pink Pony for one morning (attached to the Chippewa) and that was fantastic.

Excellent hotel in the downtown area. The room was quiet and decorated beautifully. The staff was attentive and helpful. Definitely enjoyed my stay there! My only suggestion would be to add black out curtains. The shutters let in way too much light at night.
