B&B Hotel Madrid Centro Plaza Mayor

The location is great, just behind Plaza Mayor. It's about a 5-10 minute walk from the metro station, and the hotel is right on the corner. They also offer luggage storage, and they hang breakfast on your door early in the morning, which is a nice touch. There's a free tea and coffee area on the basement level. However, I'm not sure why there's no elevator from the ground floor in hotels here; you have to carry your luggage down and then up, which is inconvenient, especially with two large suitcases. Maybe older buildings in the city center can only be converted this way. Luckily, my partner is strong. The air conditioning, shampoo, and shower gel were all provided, but you need to bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, and slippers. I even brought insect repellent, essential balm, sulfur soap, and a disposable bedsheet, but I still got bitten! I woke up around 5 or 6 AM from the itching, and there was a clear line of bites, definitely bed bugs. It was horrible! Maybe this is a common hygiene issue abroad, but I didn't get bitten in other city hotels and Airbnbs later on. Everything else was fine.

I stayed for eight nights, and the lady at the front desk provided excellent service; she even helped me carry my luggage from the lobby to the elevator. The hotel has a dedicated lounge area that offers complimentary coffee, fruit, and cookies, which I visited daily. The hotel's location is also fantastic, very close to Sol (a metro station), with supermarkets and restaurants nearby, making it very convenient for getting around. The housekeeping service was superb, and they even hung complimentary breakfast snacks on the door every morning, which never disturbed my sleep. The only downside was the very poor Wi-Fi signal. There were a few days when I was too tired to go out, and it was quite boring without reliable Wi-Fi.

This hotel was perfect for my Madrid sightseeing trip. The location is excellent; Sol station and the market are less than a 10-minute walk away, and Atocha station and the Prado Museum can be reached in 20 minutes. I felt safe as it wasn't as crowded as the area around Sol station and had a good, secure atmosphere. The room was simple, clean, and couldn't be faulted. The only minor inconvenience is the lack of an elevator and the surprisingly numerous stairs, which might be an issue for those with mobility difficulties or heavy luggage. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with things like the keys, but otherwise, they maintained a pleasant, hands-off approach, which made for a very comfortable stay. In the mornings, donuts were left on the door, which was especially appreciated for their sweetness and perfect portion size when catching early high-speed trains. And the donuts were surprisingly delicious! But what I loved most was the complimentary drinks and fruit service in the basement! It was wonderful to always have water and coffee available, whether finishing breakfast at the hotel, taking a short break from sightseeing, or wanting to sober up after a night out. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Madrid.

Mediocre experience. The staff was quite overbearing, and the hotel was undergoing renovations during my stay.

The front desk staff were very friendly. The hotel rooms are a bit larger than those in other hotels. They thoughtfully provided two complimentary bottles of water. The room was clean and tidy. The mattress was soft, making it easy to fall asleep. The hotel is conveniently located near a subway station; it takes about an hour to get to the airport by subway. There are also many restaurants nearby since it's close to Sun Plaza.

Overall, it's clean and the location is fantastic! The coffee room in the basement was surprisingly convenient and a great spot to take a break. With how hot Europe has been lately, location really matters.
