"Views were good with a good active party atmosphere and good food. However the rooms and bathrooms were outdated and quite frankly not fit for purpose. The beds were red with rust and rattling, very unsafe. During our stay it rained and due to the door not being fit properly it was flooding inside and the footpaths to the bathrooms were like rivers. They have one “renovated” room and the rest are completely neglected. The air conditioning broke and nothing was resolved during our stay. When speaking to reception they were very patronising and didn’t offer any resolution. The wifi doesn’t reach the rooms and you can’t get any signal. Overall an uncomfortable experience and I wouldn’t recommend. One star is generous."

"The motel is easy to get to from the ferry using the bus system. No one was around to greet us upon check in (around 4pm) but we did find a key box with an envelope. Not a big deal although usually we’d get a text to let us know if someone wasn’t going to be there at other places. Found our way to the room. Appeared tidy but not very clean. There was a big yellow stain on the skirting of the bedding, hairs in the bathroom, mould in the bathroom, questionable as to whether the quilt had been changed as it had sand and small sticks folded throughout. The bed was two singles zipped together and you could feel every spring. Flat pillows. Meals next door were great & having the pool was really handy. Pool towels were provided at the bistro. TV reception was terrible. After a long work week, I really wanted to just chill out and watch some tv. Our neighbours had asked someone to help with their tv and was told “the owners are away, I don’t know.” Not what we’d expect for $170 per night."

"Really good especially for the price. Dont expect much on service, because you basically don’t have any. Check in and check out is done without talking to anybody. The room was spacious and tidy. There is a kitchenette with some plates, cutlery, microwave, toaster and a fridge. So good for a small breakfast. Everything was working and the resort itself is nice as well although it has much more potential, but again they are probably trying to reduce cost but offer lower prices as well so all good. Location is good. You can walk to the ferry terminal if you want otherwise there is a bus stop right in front of the resort. Would recommend"

"Very disappointed considering the price of the stay. I called ahead to confirm check in time and was told 2pm. We arrived just before 3pm, to be told the room was not ready. I asked to put a bag inside and change my baby who was due for a nap. We entered the room to find one cleaner outside having a break, and a dog inside. I changed my baby and we waited downstairs in the pool area until the room was ready, which was not until 4pm. Inside of the apartment the maintenance was lacking. There was no main light working in the ensuite, the light cover missing from the main bathroom, the air conditioner did not work in the 3rd bedroom at all, sheets were questionably clean as they had marks on them, and in the main bedroom the air conditioner dripped water on my head each night! The worst of all was the state of the port-a-cot. It was not usable at all. The "mattress" was covered in mould on one side and what looked like vomit on the other. This was visible in the folded state, without having to even unfold it - so would be clear to the cleaners at just a glance. So disappointed considering how much we paid to stay here. I tried to speak to the manager but my last call was unanswered and there was no one at reception at 9.30am when we left."

"To say this hostel is overrated would be very fair. I stayed with my girlfriend and we loved being at one with nature. We cannot fault the room and the kitchen/ bar area. They are great social areas. The bird feeding activity would have been fun if we’d have seen any. The hotel lets itself down when it comes down to the organisation and events. The hostel is out of the way. We used buses to get around so having the bus stop out the front was ideal. We were promised free welcome drinks each night and we didn’t have any either night as we were told it was ‘understaffed.’ Don’t advertise something if you can’t put the events on! There was also a bingo event however it was tiresome and boring- rather than entertaining like Nomads. The happy hour and food was good. However food took an hour to arrive after ordering which wasn’t good enough. Really disappointed although I cannot fault the accommodation and facilities."

"My partner and I came to Nomad’s to stay for 2 nights in a private room with shared facilities/bathroom. We were told to check in at 3pm after arriving at 12pm. After waiting for almost 3 hours at 2:50pm, we asked if we could check-in to which we were told it would be no more than 5 to 10 minutes as we’d receive an email/text to say the room was ready. After going back to reception at 3:25, the woman at reception told us that she had check us in despite having received no email or text message, or even approached us to notify us of the room being ready. After going to our room finally, we discovered that the sheets on the bed - which had no duvet cover or protection - were stained with a red liquid which could be anything and is completely unhygienic and not safe at all (see pictures). Furthermore, the menu in the evening was pretty poor which only offered burgers until 8pm with live music starting at 4pm and finishing at 7pm weirdly on a Friday night. Overall, the cleanliness and health standards - yes it’s a hostel but the stained sheets aren’t anywhere near close to being acceptable - are very low and need to be attended. Positives included the view from the room balcony and social aspect."

"I had a lovely stay at Peppers Blue on Blue Resort. The location is excellent, right next to the ferry terminal at Nelly Bay, which makes it very convenient to access the island. The resort has a beautiful lagoon-style pool and relaxing marina views that create a peaceful atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. However, the pool looked a little bit dirty during our stay, and it would be more convenient if the room provided a kettle and small cooking essentials like an oil spray. These small additions would make the stay much more comfortable for guests. Overall, it was still a pleasant place to stay while visiting Magnetic Island."

"Booked and paid for 2 nights and left after the 1st night and just accepted the one night loss. As mentioned in other reviews you have to either park in the car park near reception or out on the street, then cart your luggage etc up hill for a reasonable distance to reach our very run down room. After vigorously complaining we were give a bottle of wine. Being Saturday night we thought we would dine at the restaurant, another mistake, whilst the restaurant looks lovley and clean, approximately half the items on the menu were unavailable, so we had our wine went back to our room and had our own cheese and biscuits. Don't stay here it's rubbish and there are many better places on the island."
