Myself and My Wife stayed in this Beautiful Hotel as part of our Honeymoon and the only thing we didn’t like was that we didnt book to stay longer. The staff from the moment we arrived to the moment we left were so friendly and helpful. They really helped to make our stay memorable and enjoyable. The location is excellent and the lift is of course a huge help as there is a lot of steps. We would love to return in the future and would HIGHLY recommend.

The rooms are small and no place to unpack or even place your luggage but they are clean and the staff is friendly enough. We took one of the tables on our balcony and unpacked our suitcases outside. I feel sorry for those who didn't have a balcony. We went toward the end of the season so the staff at restaurants seems to be without supervision; young and timid. There was one young guy in particular who spent most of his time lurking around other areas of the hotel such as maids chambers and all the girls seemed very uncomfortable. The cook for the morning looked like he hadn't bathed in weeks and was mostly angry. Their restaurant is also just not great. Hotel staff and bellmen were so nice and helpful. We stayed 7 nights and had no incident but we spent most of our time out. Those stairs are brutal but definitely worth it. The views are magnificent.

Charming hotel with a really nice staff. Beautiful antique living room, amazing views of the sea, great lunch and dinner offerings, clean rooms, and nice gardens throughout.
Cons:
The food and drinks were really overpriced. 20 Euros for a Jack and Coke or lemon spritz in Maiori is ridiculous. The breakfast offering needs work. Beware of the amount of stairs and climb for your stay. Please prepare to climb 3 stories every time in addition to the 2 lifts.
As a note to HBSL, for the 4th floor center balcony…maybe build a half wall between the balcony for some privacy and exclusion.

Contrary to its impressive 4.5-star rating on TripAdvisor, our stay at this hotel was far from satisfactory. We were met with rooms furnished with ancient, uncomfortable pieces, marred further by an unacceptable level of dirt and filth. A troubling infestation of ants and bugs in our room was alarming, and the sight of rats on the premises was beyond distressing. The lift malfunctioned during our stay, forcing us to laboriously climb eight floors with my injured hip, which was an agonizing experience. Despite voicing our concerns and seeking a cancellation and refund, the staff were unresponsive and unhelpful. The only solace was the mesmerizing view, but the overall experience was deeply disappointing. Truly disheartened.

Amazing stay at the Hotel Botanico San Lazzaro. Staff was extremely accomodating, amazing facility. Hope we can make it back to the region in the future to stay there.

I never write reviews unless its really good or awful. This place was awful. Do not go here. We are writing this only because we requested a partial refund and it was denied. It looks great from photos, but there are no signs to look for entry. The Room with the Hot-Tub had ants everywhere and spiders, and the alcohol in the mini fridge was in-fact drunk. When they upgraded to switch rooms, we saw that the same alcohol drink was full versus the one in the first room which was half full. Then we closed the door, it locked us out, and instead of waiting for hours to get back in- we left the hotel entirely and left about 400.00 worth of flowers in the room. I requested a refund by email partially since we stayed 1 of 2 nights were denied. Still ants in new room. They tried but it was a failure, and at least a partial refund would be suitable.

Not for anyone who have mobility issues***Just returned from a 4 night stay. It took a while finding the hotel as you wouldn't expect to find the entrance in the back of a car park with no signs especially not for a 5 star. Diego the porter found us looking for the hotel and directed us to the entrance. He gave us a lovely warm welcome and took our car keys and took us up to reception via a vunicula (cable car) then 2 flights of steps. The room was beautiful without outstanding views. The only disappointment was there was no shower curtain so when we showered everything would get soaked. The disappointment of our stay was the vunicula (cable car) broke and we had to face going up 228 very big steps which is not ideal if you are asthmatic like me. The owner was there who saw how distressed I was and ordered me some water. This had ruined my holiday as we didn't expect that from a 5 star hotel and understand things do break. However measures need to be in place for this. The breakfast service was hit and miss, we asked for ketchup and didn't get this until our omelette had finished. I asked for milk for my tea, this didn't arrive and when requested again my tea had gone cold. Definitely not a 5 Star in today's world but more of a 3 Star.

I loved my stay! The property itself is beautiful with the best view in Maiori! I was nervous about the parking situation and finding the hotel based on the other reviews. When we arrived at the location google maps said it was located I called the front desk and someone came down within 10 minutes to greet us and take us to the parking area. He also carried out bags and brought us up the lift. We were given welcome drinks and ate a light lunch at the pizza garden. I thought the food was very good despite the limited menu. I tried everything once and I truly loved it all. The location is perfect to walk to the shops, restaurants and beach. While the listing says there is a “private beach” what they mean is the hotel has a blocked off section beach front with chairs and towel included which was amazing. The staff were all so friendly! I had a massage and I love that as well. The only negatives I would say is that there is not a traditional shower. Just a tub. And the bed was not very comfortable but I’m sure it’s hard to order new mattresses due to the location. I preferred to stay in Maiori over Almafi (25 min drive from hotel) or Positano because it was a lot less crowded with the same beautiful views and great food! I would return!

Terrible experience. Ruined our last part of our holiday around Italy. The Hotel is right up a cliff. We had to move rooms due to having no shower. The room we moved to had no curtains at the windows. Filthy old furniture and no space to hang clothes or unpack anything. My husband had to pile his clothes on the floor in the doorway. The safe didnt work at first and it became embarrassing to keep going down to reception. We were made to feel like we were being difficult. In all the hotels we've stayed in this is by far the worst and how it has 5* I'll never know. The views are stunning but thats it. Breafast was basic and we decided not to risk anything else to eat here. Oh and the gym consists of a treamill that doesn't work. A cross trainer, spin bike and a basic weights bench all outside and worn. We paid for a day pass at a gym down the road.
