Have stayed here on numerous occasions for business, was booked in and had to postpone the date as had been in hospital and unable to travel. Hotel would not accept a change of date or credit to use at a later date (note a cancellation was not requested, purely a change of date or credit for future use). Given the situation any decent hotel would have had some empathy and facilitated a change, nevermind to someone who has stayed over 10 times in the last few years. Absolutely appalling and hope their retaining of the £180 is a fair trade for losing out on the repeat business, I'm back off to stay at The Greenbank as soon as I'm travelling to Falmouth again

Arrived to find no reception. Check in is all done via a computer. For a hotel of this type you would expect a warm welcome. When looking for our room, we did come across a very helpful, young, tall man who showed us around and took us to our room. Rooms fine, everything you need. Overall stay was fine, except breakfast! No milk!! Was told they had run out but had soya or oat milk. Asked if someone could not go out and get some but the waitress said they were not aloud to leave to go and get some?! Surely a supervisor or a member of the kitchen could go?? They also didn’t know when the delivery was….very poor! Breakfast food was good. Fruit juice decanters do not flow. Go and get your toast as the glass will take 5 minutes to fill. Small bite plates were a little disappointing. Items run out but no alternative offered. Not very exciting. Checking out there was two people even though we had mastered the machine! Gave us a departing gift, two cans of sparkling water and a bag of fudge. Why, what was the point, I don’t expect many people like sparkling water? Was it an over order to get rid of?!

We stayed in an absolutely beautiful room -4 with a freestanding bath and views to the sea , it was lovely and quiet and the bed was comfortable. Only a short walk to Gylly beach and on a rainy afternoon we went for a swim and used the steam room . Breakfast was lovely choice of pastries and a cooked breakfast . The staff have all been polite and helpful . This is our new favourite choice of stay in Falmouth which we visit frequently

Upon arriving at the hotel, you walk in to find no reception. It is all done on a computer situated on a sideboard. Eventually when we walked through the hotel, we were greeted by a member of staff (a very tall young man, didn't get his name but very polite and courteous), who was very helpful in showing us around and to our room. It was only due to us passing him in the corridor. The room was ok. It was clean and tidy. Everything you needed was provided. The main thing that let our trip to this hotel down was when we went for breakfast, we were told there was no dairy milk. In this day and age, you would not expect this. They did offer alternatives but when mentioned why someone couldn't go and get some, we were told the waiting staff were not aloud to leave the premises to get some?! They also replied they didn't know when the milk delivery was going to be. I feel that a supervisor or a member of the kitchen could have gone to a local shop and purchased a few pints, before the guests starting to come down for breakfast?! When we checked out, there was two people there loitering in the hall way to check us out, even though we mastered the check in process. We were then given a leaving gift...2 cans of sparkling water and a packet of fudge. What was the point, a waste of time if you ask me.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience from the moment we arrived. Simon and his team made us feel so welcome straight away, and every single member of staff was friendly and eager to help with anything we needed. We stayed in the apartment called The Lookout and it was just lovely. On arrival we were greeted with a bottle of Cornish champagne, which was such a nice touch — and it tasted amazing too. I really liked that they use local produce. The spa was another highlight for us. The treatments were great and the lady who looked after us was so kind and professional. The main house itself is beautiful as well, and we really enjoyed sitting there with a drink and soaking up the atmosphere. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. We’ll definitely be coming back, and I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

Very disappointing & not up to 5* rating. View from bedroom was a dirty flatroof & an old carpark, bedside lamp had exposed wires and flickered! No choice for dinner! Staff very nice manager rude so was too intimidated to complain

Heartfelt thanks to Simon and the team, for a fantastic visit to Merchants Manor. We had a delightful time at the immaculate spa, and enjoyed a superb lunch. The corn and coconut soup was a triumph, and the carpaccio of beef melt-in-the-mouth delicious. What a lovely way to spend a morning relaxing in authentic and yet also contemporary surroundings.
