Tulemar Resort

We stayed at Tulemar for our daughter’s senior trip… it’s where they chose to go… and I’m so glad they did! Our family of 4 had a fantastic time here! Costa Rica is phenomenal… as is this resort and ALL of the staff! Miguel was tremendous both before we arrived and once we made it to CR. He’s the best! Stuart and Axel (sorry if I’ve missed spelled names) drove us all over the resort and helped greet us and provide exceptional service and smiles! I literally can not say enough about all the staff we encountered… sorry I know I’ve forgotten some names… but they were so patient and kind after I injured my calf muscle (because I was having too much fun and forgot I’m not 20-something still) I felt safe and appreciated all of their insight and interactions! Everything we needed or requested was delivered with smiles and a genuine sense of care. Miguel’s assistance with tours and travel gave us the ability to relax as he is excellent at his job! My daughter and I had tears when we departed while saying goodbye to our Tulemar friends! I know some of the magic is Pura Vida and Costa Rica in general BUT Tulemar is also a magical, joy inducing place!

We recently returned home from our 5 night stay at Tulemar Resort. Overall, we had an amazing experience and each member in our family had different favorite moments. This was our first time to Tulemar so I learned some things I would do differently if we do return back. What I misunderstood was that the villas and bungalows are independently owned and the owners decide pricing and how each place is decorated and upgraded. When I reserved our bungalow I read so many reviews and I thought we would get one of the nicer ones. This was my error. What I reserved was the most basic and honestly uncomfortable, old and just unappealing bungalows which still cost around $650/night. Immediately after walking into the bungalow I contacted our concierge and asked to be moved. The resort was sold out but for 2 nights we had the option to move to a villa for the price difference of $130 a night. We took it immediately and the difference was night and day! The villa was beautifully decorated, very comfortable and had a jacuzzi on its deck. This villa was the vision of what I thought we rented. Sadly, we had to move back to the original booking for the remainder of our stay and I hated it. One of the nights our air conditioning decided to stop and although our concierge called the engineers and they did fix the problem it just added to my unhappiness with this rental. Any type of negative experiences is only with this terrible bungalow and nothing to do with any of the resort staff (who are wonderful!). Our concierge, Laura, was quick to respond and very friendly. She was also very knowledgeable and we loved all of her suggestions. The shuttle service was very quick and I loved how they would stop and show me all the animals. Johan and Axel were wonderful shuttle drivers and loved seeing them throughout the day. And David at the beach was always friendly . Always greeting with a smile and made sure our beach stay was comfortable. Now to my favorite part - the animals. We had so many monkeys on our deck and being next to them felt priceless. They are definitely used to humans and one of them decided to go into our jacuzzi while I was sitting next to it. And on our last night as we left our bungalow to get some ice cream we happened to come across a sloth that was on our neighbors porch. The sloth stayed for 2 hours moving between beams and she even came inches to me as I was siting on the bench admiring her. This moment meant everything to me and was the perfect conclusion to our adventure in Costa Rica.

Amazing first stay at Tulemar and we will definitely be back! From the beautiful villa, stunning views, fantastic tours, great food and amazing wildlife, we just didn’t want to leave. What truly made it special were the people - Alex was an attentive and responsive concierge who helped with everything we asked, the drivers at the resort (Johan was great!) and the restaurant and beach staff - everyone was kind, genuine and helpful. Can’t wait to return!

Our family absolutely loved this place. We saw more wildlife at Tulemar than at the national park. There were monkeys and sloths and iguanas every day. The staff is all top notch. We brought our 3 young daughters here who are learning Spanish to experience Costa Rica. The staff all spoke English but they made it a point to help the girls and speak Spanish to them. Everyone was so friendly and kind. Our concierge Miguel was amazing and helped us with everything on our wish list. The beach is amazing. And we met two incredible people that worked at the beach. David and Kaylee. These two treated us like we were family and made our trip extra special. Boogie boards for the kids. Kayaks. A chair in the sun or the shade. The beach was very special and our daughters spent hours in the waves. I would highly recommend Tulemar to everyone. Great location. And a truly amazing staff. Sebastian and Stewart were also very accommodating and made my daughters more confident to speak Spanish. We loved it all.

Wild life lovers dream vacation. Got a premium bungalow with a balcony. Get the balcony! 1000 percent worth it! Had 3 separate visits from monkeys on our balcony. They were very curious. Saw more monkeys and sloths than I could begin to count. Service was fantastic and maid service did an amazing job keeping everything clean. Shuttle drivers were great. All staff was helpful in pointing out wildlife. Beds were very hard in our unit ( only negative of resort). Be prepared for cost of food in town all pretty expensive. We ate about half of our meals for the week at the resort and the rest of the meals outside of the resort spent about $2000 for a week of food for 2 adults and 2 children. We took 4 tours and all were awesome. Beach was fun, kids loved the buggie boards. Our concierge Migel was so helpful. He even checked on us after a small earthquake we experienced while in Costa Rica.

This place is amazing all the way around! Service, scenery and amenities. Lots of wildlife throughout the resort with multiple pools and private beach.
