Tulamar is a fantastic place where I felt like I truly had a vacation. I got a break from the cleaning the cooking and laundry. You can’t go wrong with any of the villas you choose. They are all tropical beautiful with so much wildlife surrounding you and the beauty is indescribable. The only disappointing part was to getting to and from the beach. Its a very steep uncomfortable walk and really need the shuttle. Frustrating I would wait for a very long time for a shuttle, sometimes never showing up and was difficult to contact anyone. The beach was OK. Everything else about their resort was fantastic though, and the staff are amazing.

Amazing first stay at Tulemar and we will definitely be back! From the beautiful villa, stunning views, fantastic tours, great food and amazing wildlife, we just didn’t want to leave. What truly made it special were the people - Alex was an attentive and responsive concierge who helped with everything we asked, the drivers at the resort (Johan was great!) and the restaurant and beach staff - everyone was kind, genuine and helpful. Can’t wait to return!

Our family absolutely loved this place. We saw more wildlife at Tulemar than at the national park. There were monkeys and sloths and iguanas every day. The staff is all top notch. We brought our 3 young daughters here who are learning Spanish to experience Costa Rica. The staff all spoke English but they made it a point to help the girls and speak Spanish to them. Everyone was so friendly and kind. Our concierge Miguel was amazing and helped us with everything on our wish list. The beach is amazing. And we met two incredible people that worked at the beach. David and Kaylee. These two treated us like we were family and made our trip extra special. Boogie boards for the kids. Kayaks. A chair in the sun or the shade. The beach was very special and our daughters spent hours in the waves. I would highly recommend Tulemar to everyone. Great location. And a truly amazing staff. Sebastian and Stewart were also very accommodating and made my daughters more confident to speak Spanish. We loved it all.

Tulemar is a fabulous resort: exceptional location and service, lovely bungalows, three pools for kids, a gorgeous private beach and lots of fun activities. My children and I had a great time on a night hike, sloth tour, and surfing lessons.

I’ll start with the best part - the wildlife was unreal. Seeing sloths outside our room daily made this vacation well worth it. Communication with our concierge was excellent prior to our stay, but that unfortunately wasn’t the case when we arrived, and we felt like we were a burden to him. On the last day he said our shuttle to SJO had to pick us up at 4pm (8 hrs before our flight), which was very odd (no traffic per Waze). We found another company to arrive two hours later and we got to the airport with 3 hours to spare. Seemed like there was an ulterior reason for this which we didn’t appreciate. We were also offered showering accommodations due to our late flight, but it was a staff shower (cold only), where staff stared at us impatiently while we rushed to get ready. In general the staff didn’t seem thrilled to be there. We’d just come from a resort in La Fortuna where the staff was the highlight, so this was quite a change. Casa de las Flores was nice, but only slept 4 as opposed to the advertised 5. Someone had to sleep on a non-pullout couch. The cleaning wasn’t great (visible dust between the mattress and bed frame). Our kids enjoyed the pools but cautiously, as none of them have a shallow end under 4 feet. Food was meh. Definitely go to Emilio’s Cafe within walking distance. All in all, it was ok but not worth the money. We didn’t feel welcomed and won’t be returning.

We had no idea what to expect on our first family trip to Costa Rica and Tulemar set the bar very high. We stayed 4 nights and we were sad to leave and missing Tulemar after arriving at our second destination. From the incredible property where we began and ended our days on the balcony listening to howler monkeys and watching macaws soar through the sky, to the warm service we experienced by everyone from the shuttle drivers, restaurant staff, to the shop staff and helpful concierge’s. Miguel took great care to make us feel welcome and the activities he book for us were so fun. We used the shuttle service provided by Tulemar to pick up from San Jose and our drive felt like a tour….he was so knowledgeable and enjoyable to chat with. As a bonus the two bedroom was perfect. We look forward to returning one day!

The views and the wildlife made this stay extraordinary. We were in an ocean view bungalow and awed every day at the beauty. We had monkeys climbing on our balcony, views of macaws, easy viewing for sloths… so magical! Our 4 year old and 8 year old especially appreciated the wildlife and pools. Having a small kitchen made it easy to cook our own breakfasts and then take advantage of the onsite restaurant for lunch or dinner. We would absolutely return to Tulemar.

We had an amazing holiday staying right in the middle of jungle surrounded by the most wonderful wildlife. So good sitting on the balcony in the evening watching troops of different monkeys moving through the trees. Lots of great restaurants nearby too.
