Hôtel & Restaurant Five Nations

The location and golf course were both beautiful. While reception staff was friendly, this was not the case at breakfast nor in the brasserie/restaurant. Poor and even hostile service. Long waiting times and poor quality food. Very shameful while golf club members were treated like royalty.

Never again. Rooms are only cleaned daily for an additional charge of 25 EURO. I might still be able to deal with that. Service in the bar area was very unfriendly, you don't feel welcome as a guest. Food was ok, but nothing more. No taxi to get to the town of Durbuy unless you are prepared to pay 60-70 euros for 10km. We will come to Durbuy again next year with 8 people, but we will choose a different hotel.

Room was good but housekeeping was only every 2 days. Not possible to buy big bottles of water. Golf course looked good but all of the greens were very bumpy, there was no golf ball cleaners or rubbish bins on the entire 18 holes and the buggy paths were in terrible/dangerous condition.

Yesterday's weather was miserable but the site was impressive anyway, esp. for golf players (which we are not). Beautiful nature all around, manicured gardens, elegantly repurposed old farm buildings, inviting bar and restaurant, impressive seminar facilities, simple but cozy and functional rooms, comfortable beds, impeccable cleanliness. A bit on the expensive side for the rooms but keeping up everything around them is surely not cheap. Only observations: 1. The place was difficult to find. Of course Google maps, Booking, etc. know about it and the address is advertised everywhere. However that address was unknown even to our (upper-class) car's GPS, when I programmed it by pointing at the place on its map, it steered us first through the service entrance, and the local signage is really too small and not visible enough, esp. in the mist of a dreary afternoon, and confusing as the most visible is a discouraging dead-end road sign. 2. While the room was clean and perfectly 'usable', it suffered from a couple of oversights that room staff should have reported and fixed: one of the ceiling light bulbs did not work; the desk lamp did not work ... until we noticed it had been unplugged behind the desk; more importantly, no matter how hard we tried, one could not shower without water seeping under the door and running over the bathroom floor. Bad design or merely an ill-fitted door?... whatever, not good over the long run.

Ouiet nice view

Very nice boutique-like hotel, incl. golfshop. Fantastic renovated. Our room was very clean, great shower and had luckily a good working airco (it was 30 degr. outside) 3-course diner and breakfast on the outside terras was fantastic. And both golfcourses (Durbuy and Main) are very nice to play: challenging but fair, with nice views. We could not find even one small negative point. We've had a lovely 3 days and will happily stay another time.
