Zenitude Hôtel Résidences Marseille Saint-Charles

The front desk staff were incredibly nice. Downstairs, there are iconic landmarks and a wide variety of dining options. It's very convenient with a subway station and bus stops nearby. It's only one stop away from the Old Port and within walking distance, and the train station is just a 5-minute walk away.

The room itself is pretty good. It's a small apartment, suitable for families, and the view outside is nice, you can see a small chapel. Overall, I think it's okay, I'd say it's quite good.

I first stayed here for two days six years ago when I visited Marseille, and I had a good impression, so I booked it directly again. It still feels like the best stay of my trip so far. The location is excellent; a few minutes' walk to the right are Carrefour and the train station, and about ten minutes more to the Palais Longchamp. To the left, it's an even bigger concentration of attractions, with plenty to see and do along the way. The facilities are incredibly complete; you could practically live here.

Coming out of the train station, head towards Marseille's Arc de Triomphe. You'll know you're there when you see the Arc de Triomphe Hotel; the entrance is on the right and the hotel itself is on the left. If you have luggage, use the side entrance as the main entrance has steps. The rooms aren't cleaned daily, and extra towels come with an additional charge. It gets incredibly hot in the room, even though it doesn't get much direct sunlight. If the price difference isn't significant, I'd recommend booking a room with a balcony. Those rooms face outwards and offer a view of the Arc de Triomphe. There was a bit of a mix-up with my Ctrip reservation. The younger guy at the front desk couldn't find my booking, but the more experienced staff member was really helpful and sorted it out even before Ctrip could. The French lady at the front desk during check-out was excellent, very proactive, and even said goodbye in Chinese!
