Parkhotel Neubauer

Small hotel at the main square of a very small town south of Vienna. A cozy feeling. Old world charm. Very nice breakfast with freshly prepared eggs, fresh cappuccino. Not the greatest variety, but the fresh eggs are what counts - in many four or five star properties you just get pre-heated scrambled eggs. Furniture is a bit outdated / used, but it's all clean & comfy. And the beds are really god. What I found a bit disturbing was the fairly noisy exhaust fan from the kitchen. Not so nice in such a peaceful surrounding.

My 5-year-old son suffers from a severe cow's milk allergy. Despite pointing this out to the waiting staff and asking for a milk free sorbet, he was served a milk based ice cream. He suffered an immediate and very distressing allergic reaction after his first spoonful. The waiter later admitted that he hadn't served sorbet as requested but an Eskimo branded ice cream which did contain milk. Overall, the service felt rushed with it being a busy bank holiday. Absolutely no excuse though to be risking a customer's life. Mein fünfjähriger Sohn, der allergisch auf Kuhmilch ist, hatte eine allergische Reaktion auf ein Eis, von dem uns versichert worden war, dass es ein milchfreies Sorbet wäre und obwohl wir mehrmals auf seine Allergie hingewiesen hatten. Während wir unseren Sohn verarzteten, teilte uns der Kellner mit, dass es doch kein Sorbet war, sondern ein Eskimo Eis, das Milch enthält. Wir hatten Glück, keinen Notarzt gebraucht zu haben. Dennoch war das Erlebnis sowohl für unseren Sohn als auch uns ein Schock. Alles in allem, wirkte das Service sehr hektisch, wohl wegen des Feiertagsgeschäfts. Wenn vor lauter Geschäft aber vergessen wird, dass Allergien lebensbedrohlich sein können, liegt grundsätzlich etwas falsch.
