The hotel is very conveniently located in the city centre with multiple tram stations within minutes' walk away. The Southern Cross railway station is just 4 minutes walk away. There are convenience shops and good cafes near the hotel too.
I had everything I needed in the room - from washing machine to dish washing liquid.
My room was facing the river and the view was great.
Downside is the trams and trains do get noisy, especially if the windows are open. It didn't affect my sleep though.
Reception is only open between 8am - 8pm. A friend also booked this hotel and he was arriving at midnight so he arranged security box to pick up his keys and it was smooth.
The aircon makes some clicking noises, that did wake me at night. My friend mentioned the same issue with the aircon in his room.

The location ist amazing. The kitchen is nice and big with several airfryers as well. Unfortunately there was not enough cutlery and other tools you might need for cooking. I was in a 10 bed dorm. The room was nice and spacious and the beds have thick curtains. The downside was the bathroom. I stayed for 7 nights and the bathroom was maybe cleaned twice. So it wasn't a really good experience to use it. There were also no additional bathrooms on any upper level. One bathroom is simply not enough for ten people.
To summarize I expected better bathroom cleanliness and more bathrooms also on the upper levels. And also the early kitchen closure at 10pm was pretty annoying.

The hotel apartment is located in the CBD, and it's a 5-minute walk to the tram stop. The suite is quite suitable for family trips. All facilities are complete except for a washing machine, but a washing machine should really be a basic amenity for a hotel apartment. As for hygiene, I can't say anything good about it. The duvet cover was wrapped in a sheet, and with the slightest movement, the sheet slipped off, revealing the duvet insert. It was yellowish and greasy, clearly unwashed. It was absolutely filthy. I hope the hotel can make some improvements.

The stay at this hotel was incredibly convenient, with a prime location close to everything we needed. The staff were exceptionally friendly. The room was new. Highly recommend!

The room is quite outdated compared to the pictures! The bed is not stabilised to the floor so it moves every time you sit on it. Bathroom tap was dripping and the floor is very creaky! Location is good as it is very close to Southern Station although the surrounding is not great! Police was often outside for what look like for anti-social behaviour!

I was a bit nervous when I booked it, wondering how small a 9-square-meter room would be, but it was actually perfectly sufficient for one person. The bathroom is a bit on the smaller side, but it's adequate for an Asian person. The location is excellent, right opposite Southern Cross Station. It's a five-minute walk from the SkyBus stop, and there's a 7-Eleven right downstairs.

The hotel's hygiene is excellent, and the lobby is spacious and bright. There are plenty of elevators, so even during peak hours, you don't wait long. The rooms are also spacious with beautiful window views; one side should offer a clear view of the river connecting the North and South banks, perfect for watching New Year's fireworks. Housekeeping is arranged from the third day of your stay, and they do a thorough and clean job. Overall, I'm very satisfied, although the location is a bit far from the CBD and Melbourne's main attractions. However, once you cross to the North Bank, you're not far from the tram free zone, which makes up for it. 👍👍👍

This hotel boasts a great location, being very close to the train station and shopping malls. The cleanliness, however, might be a matter of personal opinion. What truly impressed me was their problem-solving attitude. As is common with most Australian hotels, check-out is typically at 10:00 AM and check-in at 2:00 PM. But when I checked out on the 12th, I saw a family from Inner Mongolia traveling – their child, tired from an overnight flight, had fallen asleep on the lobby sofa. After explaining the situation to the front desk, they immediately arranged for the family to check in early. This kind of flexible handling, based on real circumstances and prioritizing needs over status, is truly commendable. 👍

The location is great—close to the CBD, so no issues there. However, the bathroom layout was disappointing. There was no holder for essentials inside the shower, and the towel rack was placed far from the shower area. I'm not sure how they came up with such an impractical design.
Overall, I’d say the hotel deserves an average rating.

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in Melbourne city itself. It’s located within the free tram service of 11 & 48. Estimated 10 to 15mins walking distance to Parliament metro station. Stayed at level 48 facing the stadium and Fitzroy garden. You will be expecting to wake up to a lovely sunrise every morning. Convenient. To travel along the city either via tram or walking. Walking distance to the art gallery, state library and all.
The staffs have been accommodating and always ready to answer your questions. Shoutout to the staff Lein and I can’t remember what the staff’s name at the the ground floor lobby. Room service has been good. Love the welcome card and fruit platter provided by the hotel( though I can’t finish). Thank you for making my stay in Melbourne comfortable and will definitely come back soon!

Great
MM342478****The room was decent, and the bed was incredibly soft, a real 'white-people bed' as they say, with excellent blackout curtains perfect for sleeping. We booked a one-bedroom suite, and the staff thoughtfully added an extra bed for us. The only downside was the somewhat chaotic front desk management. When we checked in, they told us the suite we booked was unavailable, claiming it was double-booked and offering us a standard room instead. It was the first time I'd heard of being downgraded because a room wasn't available! 😂 After I showed them our confirmation, they fiddled around a bit and eventually 'found' a suite for us. However, our booking included breakfast, and after the room change, we couldn't access the breakfast area the next day. We had to go back to the front desk to explain the situation again, and they finally gave us a card. On the second morning of our stay, we again couldn't get breakfast and spent another half an hour sorting it out. It was quite a hassle, making me feel like the money spent wasn't really worth it. Throughout the whole process, there was no mention of compensation; they just fixed the immediate problem. In previous hotels, when there was an issue, they usually provided a better experience after resolving it.
As for the restaurant teacups, honestly, they weren't clean; many had coffee stains.

BBeiandezhanglaoshuaiLocated in the center of Melbourne, convenient for travel. The two-bedroom room I booked was very spacious and had a large balcony. I could have given it a full score, but I was not satisfied with the parking. The entrance to the hotel garage is in a small alley at the back and is not easy to find. You need to enter 2 malt house lane in the navigation.

GGuest UserIt was my birthday when I checked in. My flight arrived at 7 AM, so I went straight to the hotel, and they let me check in at 9 AM (I've never experienced this before; even with available rooms, you usually have to wait until after 2 PM). I was so happy because I really needed to catch up on sleep after a long flight. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant, and since it was my birthday, they brought us wine and a small cake! It was truly a perfect experience. The hotel offers great value for money, the room was very spacious, and the view was fantastic. I'll definitely be back!

AAnonymous UserThe Savoy Hotel was a jewel find after much searching for a convenient accommodation near the Southern Cross Station. It was just across the road!
The staff were friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and clean. We had to request for slippers as some amenities are provided on request.
Dinner was delicious 😋

EEatjormehI had a positive experience at this hostel, primarily due to the friendly and attentive service. The staff were always willing to assist and respond to any needs that arose during my stay.
Location:
The hostel is conveniently located just a three-minute walk from Flinders Street Station. Additionally, there are trams nearby, making it easy to navigate the city. The transportation options are excellent.
Facilities:
The hostel offers shared spaces, including a quiet working room, a communal kitchen, and a small library of books for guests to enjoy. The atmosphere is lively, providing ample opportunities to meet new friends.
Room Experience:
However, sharing a room with ten people can feel quite cramped, and the experience heavily depends on the cleanliness and habits of your roommates. I often heard phone conversations at night, and personal belongings were sometimes scattered across the floor. While these factors are beyond the hostel's control, they can affect the overall experience.
Restroom Condition:
The bathrooms could be brighter and feel a bit dated. A renovation would be beneficial to improve their appearance.
Overall, aside from the issues mentioned, I found my stay satisfactory. I would consider returning in the future if the opportunity arises.

JJason369369I recently stayed at Novotel Melbourne on Collins, and overall it was a great experience. The location is unbeatable — right in the heart of the city, with easy access to shops, cafes, and public transport.
The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, with large windows overlooking Collins Street. The bed was very cozy and ensured a good night’s sleep. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially at check-in — they made everything smooth and welcoming.
Breakfast had a good variety of options, and the dining area was bright and pleasant. The gym and facilities were well-maintained, though the pool was a bit small.
Overall, it’s an excellent choice for both business and leisure stays. The combination of great location, comfort, and professional service makes it one of the best value stays in Melbourne CBD.

GgowanchaidotcomWe stayed altogether three nights here. The hotel was converted from a historical building dated back to 1890s . We enjoyed the stay-included breakfast at Alluvial restaurant. It got charming vibe. the King Classic room we stayed is spacious consider it is in zone 1 of Melbourne. The hotel is in walking distance to many of the Melbourne city attractions we are even able to take some rest in the room in our planned city walking trip in the middle of a very hot summer sunny day.
The bathroom provides Byredo toiletries which we like. However, the decor is a bit dated and need refreshing and we are not happy with the service level of the staff. For example, the phone handfree function is not working properly; the safe is according to the hotel ”in the process of replacement” and not working either; the call to ”Instant Service” for help often took more than 5-seconds ring especially during the night time. There is even a false fire alert during one of the morning time of our stay. I doubt it is a standard of Intercontinental hotel or a 5-star rated hotel.
For whom consider staying at this room type of this hotel, please note the windows is fixed and facing the hallway so the room has 1. no natural sunlight 2. no fresh air and 3. needs closing the curtains all the time if you prefer privacy. Another point worth noting is the bathroom floor is very slippery after bath, I would call it a death trap if you wear the one-off slippers that is provided in the room as you can easily get a slip and fall on the bathroom floor even for a grown adult.
