Lovely medieval building, set on a hill above an industrial area. No real opportunity to stroll into a charming adjacent village. . The rooms vary widely in quality of decor, amenities, or charm. The hotel staff is friendly but understaffed. The Michelin starred chef left a year ago. Current staff is overwhelmed and food options are very limited with no choices and very basic execution. Breakfast is adequate, but with grocery store croissants and powdered scrambled eggs it is sonewhat of a challenge to satisfy.one’s appetite. This is not at all an experience one expects at a Relais et Chateau property.

Magical place, swimming pool and tennis court made it so special to us! We enjoyed the upgrade so much! The food and the wine were out of this world.

Loved it! What an amazing chateau! So beautiful. We had a turret room which was grand. Did the wine tasting; had amazing dinners cooked by the incredible chef. Breakfast had everything you could possibly want from cheese, salmon, meats, muesli, fresh yogurt, Eggs, Fabulous breads and jams, whole box of honeycomb. Cannot recommend enough. Only disappointment was it was too cold to swim in the beautiful huge pool.

Relais and Chateaux-no- no NON! Where to even begin? Our experience at Château Mer was one of the most disappointing hotel stays we've had in recent memory — especially considering the Relais & Châteaux label and the premium pricing. We arrived on the afternoon of Monday, September 15th, and the lack of welcome was immediately noticeable. It took quite some time before anyone appeared at the front desk. Though the staff were pleasant enough, the entire welcome experience lacked polish, warmth, and organization. It felt chaotic, under-trained, and oddly indifferent — think Fawlty Towers, but without the charm. We were offered an iced tea in what I assume was meant to be a tranquil garden. Unfortunately, the space was poorly maintained: wilted plants, uneven pathways, and furniture that had seen better days. The setting felt unloved. And yet, despite all this, the building itself is stunning — a beautiful old grande dame perched in an enviable location. That makes what follows all the more frustrating. Room Disaster (a.k.a. “The Upgrade”) After a long wait with no communication, we were told we’d been “upgraded.” Normally, that would be welcome news — but this so-called upgrade turned out to be a turret room spread over two floors. The first floor had a small room - basically an entryway - with a desk and a bench, a room with a sit-in tub/sink and another with a toilet. Up a stone spiral staircase was the sleeping room which had a round bed and a bizarre layout that made

We visited the castle in early August. It looks fantastic. Personell is friendly and English speaking. Unfortunately there were several negative issues to be mentioned. Internet is not secure. Air conditioning did not work. Visiting La Table gastronomique at at Château de Mercuès I Igor Sh We had reservation for The Chef's Table on August the 5th, 2025. Normal degustation menu costs Euro 200. Chef's table menu (the same) costs Euro 250. We arrived at the restaurant and very quickly realised that the Chef did not want to communicate with us. At all. He even did not come to say hello. In one hour of his absence from our table we decided not to disturb him from his work and asked somilleier to relocate us to the dining room which has been done quickly and effectively. This is not the first time when we ordered this option and I understand the difference between a Micheline starred Chef who is eager to communicate with the guests and young chef without any stars who who hates comunication with his guests. His cooking was not bad but it looks like it was his revolt against the owner of the hotel who had advertised this option against his will. I wrote a letter with complaints to the management and asked them to remove not valid option from their Web site not to confuse other perspective customers. I did not get any reply. Nobody apologised for the issue on departure but they charged for normal menu only.

We had a great experience at Chateau de Mercues where we stayed for 2 nights. The site is stunning with fabulous views over the river Lot. Excellent dinners, wine facilities visits and a very large swimming pool which is not so common.

We are just on our way home from a wedding where we spent two days at this absolutely delightful chateau. It had all the usual fantastic elements such as a picture perfect view, beautiful grounds, fantastic food and wine, lovely rooms etc but what set it apart for me was the amazing standard of service by every single staff member. I have stayed in many expensive hotels all around the world but the staff at this particular hotel were by far the most courteous, polite and helpful that I have ever encountered by some considerable margin. I could have picked any single staff member and they would have typically been the one exemplary person you might occasionally get somewhere else but here it was just simply everyone which is something I have never encountered previously. Will definitely stay again one day!

The hotel was a wonderful ancient building, superbly positioned on top of a hill. Our room was very good and the beautiful gardens and swimming pool much appreciated. All the staff were very friendly. We would stay again. The restaurant was quiet and we felt a bit "overserviced" with staff coming to our table more than was required. We felt the restaurant was not the same value-for-money as the hotel stay as the wines by the glass seemed overpriced.

This property trades on its location and the fairy-tale chateau. Beyond that the property is tired and uninspiring, service is okay (but not enough staff), room cleanliness was poor and the eating options are very limited. I particularly didn’t like being asked three times at checkout whether I was sure we didn’t have breakfast…hhmm, let me think!! Not the special experience our friends had promised. Wouldn’t come again.
