Hotel la Tonnarella

outside of the noise of the town , but still noisy from it's own loud air conditioning plant machinery located adjacent to the outside terraces / tables and bedrooms / sun terraces. It's a relatively old building, not well sound-proofed, so not a place to expect to be able to rest with a lie-in. The policy of not serving breakfast on the terrace "due to a seagull problem" is bizarre considering they encourage to you take lunch dinner there.

Property has a wonderful view looking back at Sorrento. The beach area was not well maintained. The walls are thin and could hear the room above using the toilet and all sounds associated with that. Could hear the room next door **********. Not the most enjoyable experience. It is walkable to town and had a pretty view. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Winter is here and we are dreaming about returning to our beautiful sunshine retreat at La Tonnarella. If you seek the glitzy, pretentious superficiality that so many hotels promote Tonnarella may not be for you. The moment you enter you know you can only be in Italy. Not just from the décor but the warmth of greeting and ambience. Reception staff all speak excellent English, are highly efficient and helpful. The location is probably the best in Sorrento offering uninterrupted stunning panoramic views across the bay to Vesuvius. It also has a superb private beach with facilities offering food, showers, toilets, lifeguard and beach furniture. You could not wish for a more romantic setting for an evening meal nor for the excellence, presentation and delivery of it. What a relief to hear Italian music playing quietly in the background, not European pop. Everyone at the hotel is so friendly and work hard keeping it immaculately clean. Just look at all those pristine tiles! Breakfast provides everything one could wish for in a spacious bright room with yet more stunning views. The wi-fi connection is good throughout and a wide selection of television channels. On site parking is available. The location is a little outside town and requires an uphill walk back. However the views are superb, well worth the effort and time passes quickly. We have been fortunate to have stayed at many four star (and a few 5 star) hotels but Tonnarella is the only one we return to. When revisiting something the reality often fails to reach the anticipation or memories of it. We have NEVER regretted returning and each time the experience always exceeds our dreams. My wife and I spent 3 wonderful nights at La Tonnarella Hotel. Our room was a “deluxe double” that included a balcony/terrace with a magnificent view of the Bay of Naples with Mount Vesuvius in all its grandeur directly across the bay. The hotel overlooks Marina Grande and is within 10-15 walking distance to Sorrento’s main shopping areas and attractions (downhill going/uphill return). An added bonus is the hotel restaurant, which serves excellent food and also provides a wonderful breakfast. The restaurant waitstaff and hotel parking attendant (if you’re driving) are a pleasure. I highly recommend.

Great friendly staff and grounds. We had a private terrace outside our room with a view that might have made it the best hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. Breakfast was extremely well done with many choices of foods. The front desk was pleasant and efficient and always had answers to our questions. They summoned cabs for us on request also.

This is by far the most unique and beautiful hotel that we have ever stayed in! The location was a 15 min walk to the city center and on the peak of a beautiful cliff that give you the most amazing view of Sorrento the marinas and the Mediterranean. The patio off of our room had room for 20 people with 2 chase loungers and a table with chairs and an umbrella. The glass doorwall to the patio was HUGe and gave you an amazing view while open or closed. the small room had (2) flat screen TV's, a mini bar, a place to make in room coffee or tea and a very updated lighting and cooling system. This was the best room of our 14 day Italy vacation. If we return to Sorrento this will be our only choice for a hotel.

Everything was great. This hotel is a outside the busy, touristy area of Sorrento, so it is nice and quiet. The views are beautiful and the restaurant had the best fried shrimp and calamari ever!

Breathtaking views from everywhere on the property. Staff was more than attentive and Restaurant was remarkable with excellent service and value.
