Maison Heler Metz, Curio Collection by Hilton

One of the nicest hotels I've ever been to! It is fairly new and the rooms are quite funky - lots of concrete. We had dinner at the restaurant which was lovely and the breakfast was excellent. Try the chocolate cake made on the premises. Yum! Because they had wifi problems, the rooms had to be opened by the staff. They were unflappable. While Metz will most likely not be on many lists of my friends, this was a worthwhile stay en route to a few major cities in France.

Extraordinary building featuring a house on top of the structure. The room decoration is somewhat unique and may not appeal to everyone. The bedroom walls are made of cement, with no paint or wallpaper, giving an impression of being unfinished. However, the architecture is truly remarkable. The rooftop cocktail bar is excellent – a fantastic design, creative atmosphere, and very good cocktails (although they are not cheap). I called the front desk several times without receiving an answer. The staff are not always knowledgeable, and the lift experienced technical issues, particularly with the button for the sixth floor. As the establishment has only recently opened, it still requires some fine-tuning. These small imperfections lead me to give a rating of 4/5 instead of 5/5.
