Goodstone Inn & Restaurant

Booked this trip back in January to celebrate our 28th anniversary this weekend. Had lots of plans to relax at the pool along with a winery tour. Received a phone call the night before are stay that the pool would be closed from 2-midnight!!!! Right when we would return from our private driver tour and planned to lay at the pool and relax the rest of the day!! No time to cancel at this point. We scrambled and our driver was luckily able to accommodate our much later time frame. So, Friday we plan to spend laying at pool as well. All we hear is tent jackhammering for wedding, we get to look at high tops with plastic bags of table clothes all around pool, 80 chairs on the lawn, back and forth rehearsal, three sales tours, you get the point. We spent almost $2,000 for our two nights and had no peaceful pool which was our whole reason for coming. This morning we think, let’s go lay at the pool. Guess what? They removed all the loungers for the wedding and didn’t put the back; horrible!! Stallion Suite was perfect. Lobby and restaurant, beautiful. We had dinner at conservatory and decide to sit in bar after for a drink and a game. Two young girl employees were laughing so loud the entire time (just ask the bartender) there was no relaxation there either!! At pool an ice truck idled behind us for over an hour…. Noisy!!! Please tell drivers not to idle at pool. I could go on unfortunately….. just feel like this wedding made our money unimportant to this place this weekend. So disappointed in the amount of money we spent to relax and couldn’t.

Just a wonderful property in the horse country outside DC. Large working farm, with several houses for lodging. We stayed in the Farm Cottage…also walked through the Manor House. Has a French Country motif…the stone and ivy are gorgeous. All, quite nice. We walked the 3 plus miles of trails around the farm twice….Easy with a little moderate level walking. We saw fox, hawks, tons of dear, heard fox hounds in the distance, Conservatory Dinner was also excellent. Visited nearby Middleburg which is a very nice small town to walk/shop.

My wife and I have been to Goodstone twice now over the past few years (most recently for a wedding this past weekend). Both experiences have been incredible -- from the grounds (whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying a drink by the fire pit, taking in the incredible Virginian vista, or canoeing down the river), to the gourmet dining (its own 5 star experience), to the extensive wine list (as a lover of red Bordeaux, I felt very much at home...), to the tasteful & elegant accommodations -- we couldn't recommend Goodstone more. For those looking to get married at Goodstone -- don't hesitate. The wedding ceremony and reception could not have been more beautiful, picturesque and memorable. You felt like you were in your own fairy tale. The staff at Goodstone are also extremely professional, helpful and hospitable... from check-in to check-out and everything in-between. Middelburg itself is a gem of a place (a much needed bucolic escape from the hustle & bustle of NYC... where we live). If we could give Goodstone 6 stars, we would. Incredible weekend in an incredible location. Great food, great accommodation. The staff was courteous and helpful and worked hard to have the wedding come off without a hitch. I would recommend to anyone considering a fun weekend away or large parties looking for a venue. Thanks again.

The Cottage that we stayed in was so charming. It had a great kitchen and living room. The 2 bedrooms upstairs were lovely over looking beautiful gardens which were in full bloom. We were touring the different gardens in the surrounding area. Quite wonderful.

Just returned from a lovely stay at The Goodstone Inn. We had originally scheduled this for our anniversary back in December, but due to a family emergency, we had to reschedule. They were extremely understanding and accommodating to us when we had to put the trip on hold, then eventually reschedule.  We ended up going the weekend after Valentine's Day, and we had a great time.  We stayed in the Hayloft Suite, which is in the main house, but pretty quiet and secluded. It was very clean, romantic, and well appointed. It also has a huge private deck with a great view, but it had snowed the night before and was pretty cold, so we didn't make full use of it, but it was a nice feature.  We ended up arriving two hours prior to check-in time, but it wasn't a problem. They immediately got us into our room, and we had a nice relaxing afternoon before dinner that evening.  Dinner in the Conservatory is where they really shine. I think they must have made some notes in our reservation regarding the unfortunate situation that caused us to reschedule, because we had reservations at 7pm and they had the best table in the house waiting for us...front and center of the room, right in front of the fireplace. It was perfect. Thankfully, they were still doing the tasting menu from Valentine's Day, which was a nice surprise. Every single course was excellent, memorable, and perfectly paced. The sommelier helped us choose an incredible bottle of wine, and the overall service was flawless.  Breakfast in the Bistro is included with your nightly rate, and it's not some weak, psuedo-continental breakfast. You get around 6-7 entrées to choose from, and both my wife and I loved what we got. Again, service was top shelf.  The grounds of the inn looked amazing, but as mentioned before, there was snow on the ground, and it was pretty cold, so we just enjoyed indoor activities.  One minor thing I'd mention would be the bistro bar. I think it was a staffing issue, but we came down from our room about an hour before dinner looking to get a drink and wait for our reservation, but oddly enough, the bar was closed. It wasn't that big of a deal for us, as we had wine in our room so we just grabbed a couple of glasses and poured our own, but 5-6 other couples showed up for dinner looking to grab a drink prior, and they seemed a little disappointed. I think having the bar open would not only add to the overall experience but also be a tidy profit center for Goodstone!  But the hospitality industry is still tough post-pandemic, so I'm not complaining. It was all hands on deck downstairs in the restaurant, and it was a truly amazing dinner experience.  Anyway, we really enjoyed our weekend at Goodstone. Thanks for everything!!
