La Zambra Hotel

I just stayed at La Zambra for the second time, and unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment compared to my first experience in April 2023. Back then, the hotel had just opened, and everything was exceptional—5-star service, luxurious rooms, and an overall fantastic experience. I recommended the hotel to many people after that visit. However, this time around, the service has drastically declined. Most of the staff were generally rude, seemed unbothered, and acted like they just didn’t care. Everything felt like a big ask, and there was no warmth or effort to make us feel welcome. It was like they were doing us a favor just by being there. It was also obvious that guests were treated differently based on how much money or status the hotel thought they had. We were seated for dinner at the same time as another couple, yet they had finished their entire meal before anyone even took our order. The shower in our room had unreliable temperatures—either boiling hot or freezing cold. The room didn’t feel as luxurious as before, and even the products in the bathroom had clearly been watered down, especially the conditioner, which was practically water. On top of that, the fact that the spa is not included in the price is disgraceful. For the amount you pay to stay at the hotel, it’s unacceptable for the spa to be an extra charge. No matter what the hotel says, it feels like they’re simply trying to make more money out of guests. Children were also using the adults-only pool, which was supposed to be a relaxing space, and on two mornings, our breakfast orders were incomplete or didn’t arrive at all. Dinner service was extremely slow, taking almost two hours for our food to be served. The overall service did not feel like the 5-star experience we had expected. Most of the staff were rude or indifferent, with only a few friendly exceptions. To make matters worse, there were team meetings happening by the adults-only pool. This is meant to be a place to switch off and unwind, not to sit through business meetings. The hotel should inform business guests that this is not appropriate. We were seriously considering having our wedding here because of how much we loved it the first time. However, after this experience, we will definitely be looking for other venues. Sadly, the hotel has not lived up to the high standards it once had, and we no longer feel comfortable recommending it.

What a fantastic hotel! We have a place in Mijas but wanted to experience La Zambra since it opened. Our 20th wedding anniversary was the perfect excuse! We arrived a little early, but this was no problem for them, our room was ready within half an hour with a very generous upgrade for our anniversary along with some delicious chocolates!! Staff are professional but warm and friendly. The amenities are perfect as you’d expect with a super king deluxe room with pool view which was Devine. All the food and drink were delicious and spot on! I couldn’t rate La Zambra highly enough!! We’ll be back for our 21st anniversary!

Stayed at La Zambra from the 15th of September 24’ for 4 nights. Booked private transfer which took us from airport to hotel in 25 mins. A little more expensive than a local taxi but very comfortable way to start the holiday. A beautiful hotel and location. We checked in past midnight but was greeted with a friendly and cheerful Mario at the reception who explained everything fully around the hotel and amenities. We were also very grateful to receive upgrade to a suite with garden view for our anniversary adding to a perfect stay. Hotel is superb in all aspects, from the standard of the suites, food, service and amenities on site. The 205 suite we stayed in had massive comfortable bed with excellent facilities including a great mini-bar selection. The suite offered good living space as well a balcony and big bathroom. We spent time in the spa which was a very high spec and plenty of relaxation spaces. There is also a gym on site as well as a small boutique shop. Most days were spent at the pool side, with plenty of sun beds available and poolside service. We ate in both the main restaurant and the bar. Both areas very good for food and overall service. There were a wide variety of drink options and bar staff happy to accommodate drinks not listed directly on the menus. Breakfast daily in the main restaurant space was plentiful and lots of food options and very fresh. The hotel itself was very clean and in nice quiet area, overlooking a great golf course. All staff encountered extremely friendly and helpful. 100% on our list for a return stay in the future, highly recommended.

Wow - staff,grounds,food & rooms beautiful. So lovely we extended our stay. Fabulous Golf course. The gorgeous aromas around the hotel was beautiful.

We stayed at La Zambra for a long weekend (3 nights) and thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. The room was comfortable, meals and drinks at the restaurants / bar were delicious, the pool area was a lovely place to bask in the winter sun, and we enjoyed having a massage treatment and using the wellness facilities at the spa. We liked that the hotel wasn’t too busy, making the atmosphere suitably relaxed and the weekend a refreshing escape for us! The service at the hotel was generally of a high standard but the staff at the spa get a special mention for noticing from my registration form that it was my birthday and treating us to a glass of cava; this was a lovely touch. We’d happily return to this property!

Attentive staff, great food, spacious and modern rooms, highest technology conference and meeting rooms. An excellent venue for large or small business events, offsites and family holiday.

This is a great hotel and ideal location to relax. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would definitely return

What an amazing retreat with high standards of service throughout. Situated within the Mijas hills peace and relaxation is plentiful at this beautiful hotel. With free electric car charging facilities it was only 25 mins drive from Marbella and Malaga and less than 10 minutes to the beach.
