With a heavy heart we left here today after another week of utter bliss. Attention to detail is what makes here like no other place ,tiny touches that may go unnoticed by some but not by us Your favourite drink , extra pillows all remembered from last time Carstens breakfasts ,Yvonne’s cocktails and wines but most of all the lovely evenings all sharing a special meal We love it here which is why we returned and will again Many of the guests like us have been before and it’s like a wonderful big reunion of like minded people Carsten and Yvonne are the hosts you dream of and they become firm friends I developed sciatica a week before we arrived and Yvonne got Martin the masseur to help wow I can walk ! Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts see you again soon

My husband and i have just returned from seven nights at this wonderful retreat. We had the most relaxing time, which was complemented by the owners, Yvonne and Carsten. They went out of their way to make sure everything was right for you. We had a garden room which was spotlessly clean and Sophia did a good job every day keeping it nice. The views from the garden room and the pool area are stunning and the gardens are kept in good condition. They offer massage, reiki and yoga which we didn’t take up but I went to the well equipped gym every morning. Afterwards we had Yvonne and Carsten’s breakfast by the pool; thoroughly enjoyable with hot or cold food. We also had two evening meals here which were very good. There’s an honesty bar which has good wines, soft drinks and gin, vodka etc. If you like good wine this is the place for you! We can’t thank Yvonne and Carsten enough for catering to my husband’s dietary requirements and we can’t wait to return next year. Xx

We spent three days at the Cortijo, and we were very impressed by the professional and warm treatment we received from Ivone and Costen. The place is so peaceful that you can feel the noise of the silence, especially surrounded by this beautiful landscape. Ideally, to stay some days there and totally disconnect and recharge batteries. It is a five-star place and highly recommended!!!!!

How do you write about a place that has captured your heart and soul ? We arrived tired ,stressed after a very traumatic year and we leave tomorrow totally relaxed and rejuvenated .We are so thankful to of found this unique hotel and will return Yvonne and Karsten do everything they can to make sure you have the best stay ever . From the famous Karsten breakfasts , to the guest chefs and the sharing boards food is a big part of Cortijo El Sarmiento experience . The bar is the evening meeting place before dinner or after a meal out . Yvonne will advise where to eat out ,what to see and book for you . She’s a mind of information Our garden room was a lovely hideaway with its own garden and terrace . It meant we could be on our own or go to the pool for a swim We’ve traveled the world but never had such tranquility ,ambience and above all amazing service From the bottom of our hearts thank you

I spent the entire last week at Boutique Hideaway Cortijo El Sarmiento, and it was an unforgettable experience. Yvonne and Carsten are incredibly kind hosts who go above and beyond to make you feel more than at home—completely pampered! The views of the countryside, the serene pool, and the overall tranquility were exactly what I needed to unwind and relax. The peaceful nights, gazing at the moon and stars, accompanied by the soothing sounds of nature, were truly magical. The breakfast is fantastic, and even the other guests contribute to the experience—I met some wonderful people during my stay. Without a doubt, I will be returning to Yvonne and Carsten's beautiful home. Thank you for such an amazing stay!

The gardens at the Cortijo are beautiful, the views are spectacular and the rooms are pleasant. However I visited in the ‘off season’ when the spa treatments and dining experiences were unavailable. I would have appreciated being given that information in advance. In the ‘off season’, only cold platters of meat and cheese are available for dinner. The pool was available but a touch chilly. I paid the room rate which is for two people, so as a singleton this proved to be an expensive stay. The bottom bedsheet was seriously scratchy and I was only given a single duvet for my king size bed! I know that in theory that’s all that you need, but it’s not very luxurious is it? Drinks are self served using an honesty bar set up. Therefore I think this place may be great to visit when it’s warmer and busier. I expect there will be a livelier atmosphere and there will be spa treatments, yoga sessions and great food and wine experiences on offer, but in the ‘off season’ it felt like we were just an inconvenience to our hosts.

And again we stayed at the lovely Cortijo El Sarmiento. We love the location, we love the hosts, we love the tranquility. Once or twice a week a fine dining is offered. These dinings ar worth coming back for each year. You don't have to leave the Cortijo for an enjoyable vacation. But if you want: the environment offers you great places: a lovely (Mojacar) village, nice beaches and nice walks in the mountains. We will be back!
