Castello di Gabiano

We left...already paid for but we left. We were in Italy for 2 weeks and this wine was the worst we'd ever tasted (we tried a bottle from the room, bought different one in their shop, and tried another with dinner and all of them were bad). Wine shop said you need to open for a WEEK? WTH?? And NO Shower?? Who offers a room without a shower? The 'dining room' had folding metal chairs that hurt our backs and the food was unimaginative to say the least. Spinach, spinach, potato. Very French, not Italian. Construction outside our window. Pool covered/closed and the garden completely overgrown. Can't even go in the castle so what was the point?! Augh.

even though we had a reservation the castle staff booked a large group and automatically cancelled our reservation. To be honest our reservation wasn’t paid yet, nevertheless they didn’t notify us nor offered any alternative or future discounts. Very disappointing but we found another location not very far which turned out to be a better experience for wine tasting and lunch for 10 people.

An interesting and exquisite Castello with lovely views of the rolling hills. Dinner at the castello restaurant is a must.

Get off the couch and explore Castello Di Gabiano in the Piedmont region of Italy. This majestic structure sits proudly as the crown jewel atop a mountain, today as she has for centuries, dating back to the year 1000. What history may have forgotten, she has not. Drenched in old world charm Castello Di Gabiano is enchanting with a manicured labyrinth garden, private pool and grounds, ivy spilling over ancient brick walls and picturesque views of endless vineyards and gentle valleys below. Several buildings have been restored to offer rustic yet lovely apartments and suites. The staff are extremely gracious, friendly and accommodating. The wines Gabiano produces are deliciously crafted. An assortment of reds, whites and flavorful blends are available. They also produce a delicious prosecco. With an extensive wine menu there is surly something for every palette making a wine tasting worthwhile. During our stay a portion of the grounds were under renovation. We were informed the facility will soon include the addition of a second pool with spa amenities such as massage and other luxury services offering a more relaxing, retreat style experience. Knights in shining armor and beautiful maidens alike will enjoy experiencing the enchanting old world of yesteryear at Castello Di Gabiano in the piedmont region.

Misleading pictures Contrary to what some pictures might show, the rooms are not in the castle but in an annexe which was a big disappointment to us as we chose between this hotel and another one where the rooms indeed are located in the main building. You are not even allowed to access the castle as a guest. Furthermore, our room had an extremely strange layout that offered little to no privacy. And, despite being the only people in the hotel for the better part of our second day, the staff decided to do some non-urgent maintenance in our room during the few hours of the day that we actually spent in our room to plan for the remainder of our trip. On a positive note, the staff was very kind and helpful throughout our stay.

We stayed for three nights as part of our first stop through northern Italy. We had a great experience touring the castle, learning about the history & wine (the tour is well worth it!), and eating at the restaurant. The breakfast buffet is INCREDIBLE with a huge variety of meticulously laid out options. We also had a 3 course dinner with traditional Agnolotti that was superb. Our room was the gli-scacchi, which was quaint and comfortable. It was fun to take a dip in the pool as well! The service was great, and they did an amazing job catering to us as English speakers with very limited Italian. Alessandro was an amazing host!
