Point de Vue Guesthouse

Great location for Rabat and Mdina. A historical hotel with some great features. It is a one star hotel but punches above its weight. The team are friendly and accommodating and the food and drinks are excellent value for money, as is the accommodation. Highly recommended for the budget conscious traveller looking for a genuine Maltese experience.

I stayed for 6 nights which included breakfast. Good choices from which to select. I used as my base because most buses went through Rabat to get me everywhere. Tallinja card waiting for my collection upon check-in (I'd ordered several weeks prior before I left home) All things explained upon check-in by staff 20% off dining at the restaurant - nice selection and lots of locals dine there, so that is a good sign for me! This suited me as I had big days every day, despite restaurants in Rabat only being a few hundred metres away from hotel. A neighbour of a friend emigrated here, so I asked to visit his elderly sister. Staff telephoned her in Maltese and I arranged to catch bus down to meet her. One evening I dined out in the back room of the restaurant and noticed RAF pilot photos on the walls. After dinner concluded, I went back to the front bar (where I had dined evenings previously) and asked about the photos - I did not know (despite my many hours of research for my holiday) that this hotel was used as the base for all RAF pilots - airstrip was only 2 kilometres down the hill (see photo) where they could see from the hotel and close to move when required during the war. I was chuffed! Room was unusual around a circular staircase (bathroom through small doors and toilet was up a step from the bathroom) but it was clean, large enough with two single beds, television (which I had some issues with and staff came up to help me several times during my stay) and had air conditioning. An affordable, central, clean stay with food downstairs for breakfast and dinner (if you'd like). I'd definitely stay here again!

We have just come back after a week at Point de Vue to celebrate our Anniversary. All the management and staff were very welcoming, friendly and cheerful. The building itself has a lot of history and we think a cut above a guesthouse! Our room was fantastic with a view across the green countryside. The location could not be better with Mdina Gate literally just a stroll away. We spent many a happy hour just wandering around there. The bus stops are also just outside the guesthouse and we went to quite a few places on the bus as it was so easy. The hearty breakfast included in the price set us up for the day and we had lunch or dinner quite a few times. The 3 cheese lovers pasta with walnuts was delicious, beware the portions are generous. The pizzas were also very good. The restaurant was also used by the locals which we think is always a good sign. All in all, it was a fabulous week and we were sorry to leave. We have been to Malta quite a few times and will return again definately to Point du Vue.
