We spent one Sunday night here in March, as a little detour on our way back to Melbourne, after a weekend in Rutherglen. We booked at the last minute and it was a full house the night we stayed. Our room was attached to the main residence and was clean and cosy. The two rooms separate from the main residence looked a lot more spacious. We could have saved money by booking through an accommodation platform but we booked directly with Casa Luna and received two Brown Brothers orange prosecco spritz tinnies as a complimentary treat. We were asked to order dinner over the phone ahead of our arrival and chose the lamb main with a cheese platter for dessert. After reading the description of their food ethos on the Casa Luna website, we were underwhelmed by our meal. The lamb was moist and perfectly cooked. However, the accompanying vegetables were a bit plain and we were expecting something more exciting than Arnotts Savoy crackers with three small pieces of cheese and some other bits and pieces. We were stunned the next morning to learn that the two courses were $65 per person. We thought we had ordered a bottle of wine but our host had drunk some of it before we had finished our meal, so we discovered we had bought four glasses by the glass. Having spent $270 on the room and $169 for dinner, we felt we had gotten better value elsewhere. We highly recommend eating at Chrismont winery in King Valley - our meal there was excellent and we felt a lot better value.
