Review of Onna Resort, Okinawa
About me:
I’m a frequent flyer to Japan and a long-time fan of staying at villas and resorts across the country. I enjoy discovering different accommodations across Japan. This time, I chose Onna Resort for a relaxing group trip.
⸻
👍 What I liked:
• Spacious resort– Very roomy and comfortable, easily fits 7–8 people. Perfect for families or groups of friends.
• Clean and well-maintained – The entire resort was spotless and felt well cared for.
• View exactly as shown in photos – Stunning ocean view that matches the listing. Great for enjoying sunrise and sunset.
• Beach nearby – A beach is within walking distance. While it may not be the best in Okinawa, it’s still nice for a stroll or quick swim.
• Washer and dryer setup – Includes both a washer-dryer combo and a separate dryer, which is especially handy for drying towels and clothes after swimming.
• Well-equipped kitchen – Good selection of cookware and appliances for preparing meals.
• Private and quiet surroundings – Peaceful setting with no disturbance from other guests.
⸻
👎 What could be improved:
• Inconsistent check-in information – The email offered early check-in, and a staff member via video call said I could check in at 2pm. But when I arrived, another staff said it was 3pm. This communication gap should be addressed.
• Missing basic items – No cups or glasses were provided, obviously an oversight by the cleaning staff.
• Limited towel supply – Towels are provided strictly based on headcount. Given the proximity to the beach, it would be more convenient to offer a few extra towels without needing to ask.
• Limited Coffee Supply - The resort provides coffee bags based on headcount as well, which was insufficient for guests who consume two or three cups daily. A more generous and considerate coffee supply would enhance the experience.
• Insufficient tableware – Only two large plates were provided. It would be more practical to include additional small dishes, rice bowls, and condiment plates (e.g. for soy sauce or wasabi), especially for guests who plan to cook.
• Lack of basic cooking ingredients – It would be helpful if staple items like cooking oil, salt, and pepper were provided to make meal preparation more convenient.
• No power outlets near beds – Most sockets were located low on the wall and away from sleeping areas, making it inconvenient to charge phones or devices overnight.
• Weak Wi-Fi signal in places – Internet connection was spotty in some areas of the villa, although it offers several wifi spots within the resort, but still weak

Guest UserLocation was convenient for travelling around Nago. The pool had no water when we were there but there was good seating in the area. There were multiple spaces where there is free flow of alcohol and non alcoholic drinks, choice of peanuts and popcorn. There were game machines and a pool table on the 11th floor. In the middle of the grounds were also seating areas to enjoy the night air. Being located across from a beach is another attractive point. There are a number of good restaurants within walking distance and also a Family Mart just right across the hotel. The room is fabulous and well equipped with a nice bath.

GhostaloneWe spent 3 nights this time in this 4 star hotel. You won't be disappointed. We had got upgraded to 13th floor. The sea view is spectecular despite the overcast weather. The room is spacious and clearn which same as the photos displayed on the web. The facilities and buffet breakfast is brilliant too. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to relax in Okinawa.

The location of our guesthouse was incredibly convenient, situated on a side street of Nago's main street. It offered excellent amenities, with supermarkets nearby for daily necessities and the popular Donmu Ramen – a must-try! Furthermore, the guesthouse was close to nearby attractions, such as the Churaumi Aquarium and Kouri Island, all within a 30-minute drive, a huge plus for planning our itinerary.
Our room type was very comfortable. The first floor had three bedrooms and a separate bathroom/toilet; the second floor featured a living room, an open kitchen, and a family room, also with a separate bathroom/toilet. The guesthouse provided a washing machine and dryer, which was incredibly convenient for us as we needed to do laundry during our trip.
We cooked our own breakfast and dinner in the kitchen, using groceries to prepare simple late-night snacks and breakfasts. We chatted and laughed together, creating a very warm and cozy atmosphere. In the mornings, we could also go for a run along the nearby coastline, breathing in the fresh air and relaxing both body and mind.
We stayed for two nights, and this guesthouse made our entire trip even more enjoyable. I highly recommend it!

We enjoyed our holiday. Perfect location, Good value for money, kind people, but a little bit strong rules about swimming (you can use only limited area and limited time (till 5 pm), after that is swimming forbidden at hotel beach area!!!) But OK, then you can use the public beach not so far away from the hotel.
And breakfast…., it’s a separated chapter. There is a big range for improvement, but maybe it is OK for Japanese. We alternated them with shopping something at the supermarket.

Pros: The rooms were gigantic and equipped with two ACs to keep the room cool. The staff was attentive. The location by the beach is nice. There is a lot of amenities but we weren’t able to use any because we checked in late. They seem to all close really early for some reason. Beds were comfortable and the little shops were super cute. I love the stamp rally that was happening when we were there.
Cons: all the amenities closed fairly early. We weren’t able to enjoy them. You need a golf cart to get around which was extra cost. They’re quite pricey and very slow. All the restaurants booked up really quickly. Meaning unless you get there early, you have no choice in dining. We just drove out and got amazing food outside the resort.

Ramil RakhimovFor a decent price you get a convenient location not too far from the bus stop. The hotel has everything that is needed, and if you don't need cleaning, they treat you with 2 free items of your choice (beverages or ice cream). There is a public bath on the top floor (artificial onsen). The water temperature was 43 degrees (they have the thermometer), but it is open air, so it was comfortable. The staff was ready to help even during the night, and they allowed me to extend my stay for 2 hours.
The hotel is not far from the road, but it was quiet during the night.
Also, there is Nago port nearby, so, you can take a boat to Motobu port at 10am, which is really convenient.

Almost self-catering accommodation. There's a large cemetery next door; I didn't pay attention to the comments when booking. The room was fully equipped, including a gas stove and frying pan.
There was a washing machine in the room; closing the partition door reduced the noise considerably. There was a coin-operated 100 yen dryer downstairs. There was also a clothesline on the balcony.
I was satisfied with the facilities, but dissatisfied because:
1. The air conditioning automatically turned off between 3:30 AM and 4:30 AM for two consecutive nights. Even when it turned on, it would only run briefly before stopping. 😠
2. The TV automatically turned on at 6:30 AM for two consecutive nights.
I don't speak Japanese; could you please check if the previous guest set the automatic on/off function with the remote?

Anonymous UserThis new hotel, which I chose blindly, was actually pretty good. It's very quiet and suitable for a relaxing vacation. There are convenience stores and a few restaurants nearby, so staying for three or four days isn't an issue. You can also take the bus to explore. Overall, I was quite satisfied. However, the children's entertainment facilities by the sea were a real eyesore. They made an otherwise pristine beach look quite tacky (as shown in the last picture).
