Shima Yamaguchikan
"The hotel offered us a very nice experienced to stay in the classic yet cozy ambiance. With the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable and patient to answer all my inquiry and misunderstanding. The hotel itself is very interesting for me to explore and the onsen experienced is very nice and marvelous. The river view very scenic and everywhere I captured the photo it always turn out so great."
Shima Onsen Tsuruya
"Perfect design, the dinner and breakfast were very generous."
Spa Guest House Lulud
"Booked the Japanese style room with toilet. Shower room has to be shared on the 2nd floor. Room has no amenities at all. Basic hair dryer and hot flask are in the communal area. We had to set up the bed ourselves. Room was dusty and was freezing cold even tho there was heater from the air con on winter’s night. There’s instructions to learn how to kill the stink bugs. The hotel facilities are good but the overall experience wasn’t good."

"Great L-bone Steak Dinner!"
Shiriyakionsen Hotel Kozanso
Shima-Onsen Toshimaya
"With our children getting older, family trips have become more difficult. However, we were looking for a relaxing, soothing hot spring resort, so we took the Kusatsu Express and bus to Shima Onsen. A short walk from the bus stop, we found the inn, exactly as depicted on its website. We enjoyed a relaxing soak in the outdoor bath attached to our room, listening to the sounds of the river, and enjoying the elegant atmosphere. The children ate their generous portions of dinner, and we were so satisfied we went to sleep. The service plan was well-organized, and the staff were very accommodating, arriving early and helping us with luggage storage. Both the hotel and the rooms were very clean and well-maintained. The dining area was decorated like a sunken kotatsu, and I was impressed by the thoughtfulness of the facility. The private baths offered included two types of luxurious baths, including a rock bath and two with close-up views of the river."
Shima Tamura
"Although it is a traditional hotel, the overall hotel facilities are still old. The hot spring water quality is OK, but the sanitary environment is old and probably has not been renovated. The hotel needs to go up a big slope, and it is not very convenient to carry luggage. It is better to stay at the 40,000 grand hotel at the bottom of the slope. It is more cost-effective to buy a pass to come to this hotel."
Kayamoto – A Timeless Retreat in Shima Onsen
"The service staff are very kind. Almost every service staff has a smile on their face. The house is very clean and large. They also thoughtfully prepared ice water in the room and a family-style bath. The space is large and very clean. Especially the hotel's supply. The breakfast and dinner were really delicious. Thank you Jiayuan for giving our family a wonderful travel memory."
Sekizenkan
"I stayed in a five-star special room at Kashotei. The room was wonderful, with a cypress bath. It was quite spacious, with a bedroom, living room, and Japanese-style room. You were free to use whatever was in the refrigerator. The food was delicious, and the hot springs were wonderful. The service was also good (although some people complain that I'm not Japanese or that my Japanese isn't great, but I don't mind). The hotel is made up of Kashotei, the mountain lodge, and the main building, and is like a maze, so it's fun to explore. It's a wonderful inn."

Hinatamikan
"This was my first time using this service, but I have become a fan due to their wonderful service. I stayed in a room along the river, and it was spacious, clean, and a great place to truly relax. I was able to use the bath by myself and it was relaxing, and even after just soaking in the bath for about 10 minutes, my body felt warm and warm from the quality of the spring water long after I got out. The food used local ingredients, looked and tasted great, and was served to perfection. I felt that the hospitality and service provided by all the employees made me feel more comfortable than anything else. I chose this inn because I was exhausted from work and wanted to go to a hot spring, but it turned out to be a really relaxing trip. From now on, I would like to visit every year as my family's regular accommodation."
Shima Onsen Ichigekan
Morimata Ryokan
"It's a homely inn. Both dinner and breakfast were just like what you'd eat at home. There are separate baths for men and women, and one private open-air bath. There is only one washing area in the separate baths, so I felt it would be more convenient to reserve the private bath. Unfortunately, the open-air bath was closed at night due to dark circles. The coffee served after breakfast was delicious."
Ayameya Ryokan
"The hotel is located in the middle of residential areas and there is no parking space, which is very inconvenient for us who are traveling by car. We need to park our luggage in front of the door and then park the car in a free parking lot nearby. The hotel has only two floors and no elevator, so the luggage needs to be carried up by the staff. There is no toilet in the room, and you need to walk through the corridor to use the public toilet, which is very inconvenient for those who need to use the toilet at night. Of course, you have to go to the bathhouse to take a shower. The lady at the desk was very nice and friendly. Both breakfast and dinner are Japanese kaiseki cuisine, which is pretty good."
Itoen Hotel Shima
"Staff service is very considerate, the room is very clean"
Shima Onsen Kotobukiya Ryokan
"I was relaxed. It was a very beautiful room. The transfer was quick and polite and very helpful I would like to stay again if I have another chance"
Yumoto Shimakan
"The other day, we stayed for 2 nights with 2 people (17,000 yen per person per night, total 68,000 yen). In conclusion, there was a serious problem that cannot be overlooked as an accommodation in terms of hygiene and safety management, and I checked out for only one night. Only the facts are listed. 1. Room Cleaning Inadequate and Dust As soon as I entered the room, there was a large amount of dust at a visually checkable level everywhere, such as the corners of the floor, the table, the remote control, and the side of the massage chair. Especially, the exhaust port of the air conditioner was packed with dust, and there were multiple spider webs in the corners of the ceiling. During my stay, I often coughed because of the dust, and I felt painful. 2. Corruption of equipment and mold The open-air bath with a room was in a dangerous state because the wooden frame that could be lowered was damaged. In addition, the rust and discoloration of the handrail were also conspicuous. White cotton-shaped mold was also attached to the shoji screen of the private bath, and there was a spider web on the light. 3. Water Quality of Hot Springs After entering the indoor bath in the large communal bath, rashes and itching occurred on my legs. I have never had such symptoms in hot springs. Also, the open-air bath was pitch black without lighting and I couldn't see my feet, so I was injured in the rock. The hot water was cold and I couldn't warm it. 4. Response to the inn The next morning, I told the owner directly about the room situation on the extension and asked for the site confirmation, but only the employees were there, and there was no direct apology or explanation from the owner. We received a refund for the second night of unaccommodated accommodation. It was a very disappointing stay, far from the sanitary environment that is worth the price range of tens of thousands of yen per night. We hope this review will be helpful to other guests. Photos are attached."
