Les Jardins de l'Anjou

No WiFi- but decent Nice hotel/conference centre, it was quite quiet on our visit and we barely saw anyone else which was strange. My biggest complaint was that the WiFi (and hence smart tv) did not work in the room, and we were told that was just how it was. Staff were otherwise great and a nice restaurant with delicious French cuisine. Bed and linens fairly standard.

Accommodation was really small and it felt like we were staying in an old garage. Bare walls, all windows frosted and crampt. No evening food available to us and no messages in advance to say that - we had to walk down a busy road for 30 minutes to get a pizza at a kiosk by a road junction. Breakfast limited and uninspiring. Looks so much better on their website than it does in person.

After riding some 7 hours in the blistering heat we arrived in good time (5pm). Immediatley after swiping my credit card i was told the restaurant was full and there was no food. Periodically checking the restaurant it was 20% full at best. By 7pm i was pleading for food and water, the receptionist told us to walk into town, we did, everything was shut, and had been since 4pm. By 8pm we were offered a bowl of mash potato and a cherry tarte, needless to say we declined and enjoyed a half bag of peanuts for our evening meal. To the accomodation - our supposed bungalow was a small breeze block, damp, filthy squaller. I have no idea how these pictures have been allowed on trip advisor, or where the hell the reviews have come from - i can only guess from dummy accounts. The pictures suggest lovely well presented dwellings and the writeup an idillic countryside setting, no, its the french equivallent of a butlins overan with children and school groups (fine if you like that sort of thing). Never ever have i written a review like this - for any uk travellers AVOID, you will be left starving, living in squaller, with only the sound of your own regrets to comfort you in some sadistic way.
