Sophie's Gasthaus

My wife and I stayed for just one night, but it was quite a memorable time. Our room was gorgeous, hugely comfortable, and well appointed, but the entire property was just a perfect jewel in the heart of New Braunfels. Sophie’s is a beautiful property that is immaculately maintained. It certainly had all our boxes checked based on these attributes alone, but our hostess Amanda really went the extra mile and put our experience well into the top tier. She was so nice and warm, and it was clear she cared about adding the extra touches that made our stay—and all of her guests’—as memorable as ours was. Thanks Amanda.

What a beautiful and peaceful home! My birthday fortunately fell on a date that Sophie’s Gasthaus was available. How lucky for me! My husband and I decided to spend my birthday in New Braunfels and I was looking for a hotel. But, I really wanted a place with a pool and hot tub. I saw this location on TripAdvisor at a very good rate and was so surprised to find it was available. The pool and hot tub are well taken care of. We stayed in the Karbach room which has a balcony overlooking the beautiful front lawn. It was comfortable and we had everything we needed. The home is magnificent, with fresh flower arrangements everywhere, beautiful artwork, and so many places to relax and unwind. There are books to read and games to play. If you love art, as I do, you must peruse each room and spend a little time with each piece. Thank you Amanda! We’ve traveled quite a few places over the years and I can say Sophie’s Gasthaus is absolutely the best place we’ve ever stayed!

Sophie's is the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. The home is so beautifully decorated, has several communal areas for relaxing, and every room is unique. Amanda, the manager, is unbelievably attentive and helpful, and just a genuinely kind person. I could not get over how beautiful the whole house was. My favorite part was the coffee bar in the butler's pantry - stocked with everything from nondairy creamer to cold brew to the usual assortment of accoutrements. The location could not be better, a few minutes' walk to restaurants and shops. There is nowhere else I would stay when visiting this area.
