U Hotel Fifth Avenue, Empire State Building

Decent location but bad service and cleanliness

This was great for our weekend getaway. The location was perfect, making it easy to explore. The room was small, but it’s what we expected for a room in the middle of NYC. It was clean, had hot water with good pressure, and a comfortable bed with soft pillows and linens. The people at the front desk were also very nice and accommodating. We were pleased and would stay her again.

Awesome location. Awesome rooms. Clean and tidy and they can do your laundry on the same day. There a Starbucks downstairs so coffee to go everyday. It’s a 20- minute walk to cinemas around , time square and Central Park. The no breakfast situation makes it a bit inconvenient but Starbucks offsets this.

This hotel is a scam, nothing advertised about it is right. The room is too small and the bed is not a queen size as mentioned “too small”. The room is dirty, grey walls and dark, no wardrobe, no fridge. Super noisy from the street, you won’t be able to sleep. I booked for 6 nights and checked out after the 1st night. They charged me the full amount of my stay. You better off stay in Brooklyn, same price for 5 stars hotels.

Over all rating of stay was average. Rooms are small but very clean, beds are comfy. There in a tiny lobby where ony 2 people can wait. We were in group of 8 and the process of check in was long. During our stay elevator don't work for a few times. We have had to use very narrow and not comfortable stairs. No restaurant in the hotel - only Starbucks.

The rooms were so small with no fridge, no big mirror in the bathroom, the hot water was brown (so we had to use cold water for showers), the toilet got clogged, the list goes on. Not at all what we expected and did not feel clean.

I first stayed at U Hotel in May and due to my experience, I booked it again for my next NYC visit. First, you can't get any better with the location. You are close enough to Penn Station and Herald Square, so you have a few subway options to travel around the city. The folks at the front desk and throughout were incredibly kind. I arrived a bit early and was referred to a nice breakfast spot. There is a Starbucks adjoined so if you just need a coffee fix or don't have the time to venture out, you are set. The room was so clean and cozy with a television on the wall and a desk. The bathroom was equipped with a shower and a sink with enough space to spread out your toiletries, also very clean. This spot is perfect for solo/duo adventurers who need a comfortable room to sleep and rest. I highly recommend the U Hotel. Thank you.
